Bike riders

Ok I could not spell the other way LOL. Anyway I want to get me a new bike for the spring and summer, I do love riding in the winter but when the roads are wet you end up looking like you peed your pants LOL.
My question is what kind of bike do you recommend, I bought one from Wal-Mart but it fell apart and doesn't shift right anymore. It was only a year old if that. I am looking at a Schwin bike at Wal-Mart now for a little bit more money. I plan on riding alot this spring and summer.

I agree with Mary, purchase a bike at a specialty bike store. The staff will help you choose a bike for your goals & budget, & make sure you purchase the correct size.

I have a Trek and I love it. I've had it about 12 years and it still works great. I bought it in October (which is the end of bike season here) and got a pretty good deal on it.

I would definitely purchase from a bike shop. They would be able to answer any questions you would have and help you decide on which type of bike. I've had my Trek for about eight years and I love it. It now has a child carrier attached and my son and I really enjoy our bike rides. Can't wait for the spring weather to arrive but I heard groundhog Phil has predicted six more weeks of winter -- yikes.

There is a bike shop just down the street from me, I think I will walk up there and take a look, how much did you spend on your bike?

Another Trek fan. Mine was quite expensive, but my husband has a Trek he paid around $200-$250 for three Christmases ago. That's barely more than a Wally World bike. It's been a great bike for him, and he has several thousand miles on it already. They also have incredible customer service. I wrote complaining because my front spokes kept breaking and my local bike shop wouldn't help. Not only did they replace BOTH wheels with upgraded versions, they also threw in a new set of tires.

Hi,

I also have a Trek, that was relatively expensive, but I love it. Just make sure that you get the correct size. I am 5'2" and got a women specific bike frame. I never have any weird aches after riding it. I can't wait to get back out.

Eight years ago I paid $350 and it was money well spent. I've rode a lot of miles on my Trek and it's still going strong.

Good luck and let us know which bike you buy.

cute work out clothes are good for AT LEAST an additional 10-15 calories burned!

I am so excited now to get a decent bike!! thank you all. Now is to talk my hubby in a bike shop bike instead of a wal-mart bike LOL. But I think I can win this one. It is doctors orders that I ride and I can use that on him LOL. Plus we get taxes back this year so I am looking forward to riding a good bike.
