Biggest Loser - HOLY COW!

Awwww, thanks LAJ. You're too kind. Did you see I nominated you for an award in the Cathe board award thread?

Thanks for confirming my thoughts about the elimination. Every time they showed a shot from the show, someone was crying because of the elimination. (I almost don't want to ask, but what excuse did they give for eliminating people? That the others didn't believe they had what it took? If so, shame on that show for fostering such awful negativity. I just can't stomach that kind of stuff).

Nancy, those are my 2 nephews. One of them is a Wheaton Terrier boy and the other is a human boy. :D

Who is Gillian? Was she the host? I didn't care for the host. Not enough personality. Most of the contestants had more personality than she did. And her hair and outfit were awful. Sorry, that's the cat in me coming out too.

Am I the only one who liked Jillians dress? I have to wonder about the extra skin as well. They all looked freat though and should be very proud! They mentioned a workout dvd coming out soon. Anyone going to get it?

Terri

Amazing!!! That's all I have to say! What a complete inspiration! They all looked so wonderful! I can't believe the one guy didn't even come. The second girl (I can't remember her name) that only lost the 16 pounds wasn't even clapping for the others. They all had much bigger transformations than the first season I think, as a whole. Now we have to wait for the next season.:-(

Oh, so much to say.
I didn't care for Jillian's dress. In all honesty I thought she looked a little bigger than Suzy which must have made Suzy feel great. Jillian has an amazing bod and something more form fitting would have accented that - maybe she didn't want to "one up" the contestants. She's so natural when she trains, but I din't think being interviewed is her thing. Bob is pretty smooth and wonderful.

Nick was not on there because Jillian called him "a baby" in the final workout and that made him mad. I read an interview with him somewhere and he said that his experience was totally negative. That situation is not for everybody. He is a stand up comic and my humble opinion he was trying to use it to launch his career. He would have fit in perfectly with the infighting of last season and probably would have had a better experience.

I saw Ryan - the winner from last year - on a Honda commercial (not even on NBC) just before the show. I guess BL can launch an acting career!

Everyone on that show just looked incredible. Suzy and Andrea just couldn't have been more beautiful. And the relationships between Mark, Seth and Suzy were wonderful to watch. For once a reality show that is not petty and cutthroat. I loved it when they interviewed him and he said "I'm never going back, I wouldn't wish that on anyone." I don't think many of them could lose any more weight and they were ripped.

I felt badly for Kathryn, but at least she had the stones to show up. It must have been just awful for her to get up and to have actually gained a pound - I think she lost 17 when she left and only 16 at the finale. Hopefully when she is ready, she will lose it.

Totally inspirational for me - Suzy and I weigh the same now (I think). She is the first BL finalist that I didn't weigh less than. I have about 8 lbs to lose and now I want it BAD!!!!

Matt getting sober is the best thing that ever happened to him. That must have been tough for him to be with his friends. He never really said anything about his drinking (but at the finale he made that point) so maybe he was so moody because he was also in detox. That would be tough.

Charlotte Rae looked great too.

My DS's and I were blown away. They looked amazing. My DS's kept saying all the girls looked like models. Could Suzanne had looked any more like Jessica Simpson!! It was great to see how they have changed in their personal lives as well. Pete's wife had also lost 70 lbs!!! That is just amazing!!!

I can't wait for the next season either - it is such a great opportunity for the people choosen. Man - to be able to just back out of the day to day rush and just workout and focus on yourself for 3 months..... :)

Nancy -

Gillian is one of the trainers. She was in charge of the men while the teams were based on sex. It is a competition - therefore it is necessary to make eliminations to get a winner. They have the second chance 100K prize to reward one of the people that were eliminated to still win for the best transformation. Most of the eliminations were very tough for the competitors - lots of tears and all.

Carolyn Rhea - the host - showed a little more personality during the show - but like Survivor and Jeff Probst - the show is not really about her - they kept the focus on the competitors.

Hope that catches you up a bit more on the show... :) Glad you were able to see the final one - maybe get you hooked for next season... :)

I say what does it matter what Jillian was wearing, she must have liked it, and she looks great.. why do people tend to pick on others...

The show was great, I was disappointed in Kathryn, but hey.....

The other girls were fantastic....

We all watched the finale last night. My dd7 really was getting into it. LOL!

You know what I find to be the most remarkable is that each and everyone of those contestants lost the weight with some sweat, tears, and hard work! :7 Good for them! I would think that would help them to keep it off.

Pete, who won the $100,000, is that right...? He looked awesome! They all did.

Seth looked great. He did have a little bit of extra skin. How does he get rid of that because his abs looked amazing?

I felt bad for Kathyrn that she didn't learn anything from the show to help her lose. However, wasn't she one of the first to go?

Someone mentioned that Matt had a drinking problem. I hope that will be a thing of the past now.

That was a good show. Thank goodness for Tivo. I was able to fast forward through a lot to get to the end.

They didn't really talk about Matt's drinking problem, but he didn't drink when his friends were downing tequila shots and on his interview he said that if he had one drop of alchohol "it would all start again". I didn't think much of it, but just before he weighed in and Charlotte was compimenting him he said, "Well, the best part is that I have been sober for 9 months today." So, that must have been in the background? Good for him!

I recall when this show first aired I read or heard on TV that there were viewers who complained that it was a dumb show and that it made fun of overweight people, that they were discriminating against them. But I totally disagree! I find it so inspiring and you can't help but root for them and wish them success and it's so gratifying when they achieve it because DANG they work hard for it! I hope they can all keep the weight off after all that hard work too.

Oops, I must have ff too much. I must have missed that. He looked great.

I forgot to mention Suzie, holy cow! She looked so pretty!

I don't generally watch this show, but watched the finale. Wow - those folks looked amazing. Very inspirational! I wanted to work out right away - so I did pushups. Straight legged ones - two sets of four, then a set of eight then another of seven before my arms gave out. Up until this weekend, I couldn't do any straight legged pushups!! (or so I thought) I'm one of those talls folks. I'm going to do some every day now to build up!! Woo-hoo.
And, Jillian's dress - tacky. It was hideous and did absolutely nothing for her. It looked very, very cheap. She should get a stylist if she can't dress herself.
Anyway, everyone else looked great. I can't imagine losing 200 pounds. I think I'm the biggest loser goofing around with this 20 I want to lose. If they can do what they did, I have NO excuses.
Congrats to all of them.

I liked Suzy, but when she cried at the restaurant, I thought "Geez girl, give me a break. If you that worried you may be eating something fattening, just get a plain salad or something". Is she gonna cry everytime she sees fattening food from now on?

Yeah, World, there's your winner! I'm glad Pete won the $100,000.00 - he's one of the better examples (next to Jeff!) who I think will keep it off long term. Andrea, Suzy, and a couple of the other gals looked amazing, Suzy especially. I just hope they can keep it up after the cameras are turned off the the attention goes away.

I liked the show - did not watch it last year - and think it's a great advertisement for doing it the "hard" way with diet and exercise. No magic bullet, just hard work and determination.

As for Jillian, I won't say anything - I didn't like her any better after last night. I certainly won't waste my money on any book or DVD she puts out ... or go out and try to find a copy of that outfit she had on!!!!
Just Do It! :)

I saw the last 70 minutes of the program and was in awe of everyone's accomplishments! Andrea and Suzy looked amazing. Did you see Suzy's big guns? Wow! Even though you could see the loose skin on her arms, she certainly had well defined arms... Seth had a nice six-pack, too. Still was hoping Seth would have won, though. However, all of the contentants in my mind were winners! Good for them! :)

I don't know if this has been mentioned, but Matt needs to get some new friends. did you hear the way they were outing him? That made me really mad and I felt so bad for him. I don't see how he can succeed if he continues to surround himself with people who aren't too concerned with building him up. Did anyone else want to reach through the screen and slap them?

I am really so proud of everyone who lost the weight and kept it off. Seth has such a cute face, and you could never tell before with the fat hiding it. Suzy and Andrea, OMGosh, they are total babes now! DH was practically drooling over them!

Missy

missy,

like i mentioned above, my "friends" did the same thing. i usually told them "you have a long drive, drink up". most of them will be dead with some sort of preventable disease before they reach 40. they all drink, smoke, and have the most horrid diets. it's amazing i ever found my way here with a pack like that.
