BFL Check-in Wk 2 Continued......

Tonight I went to the gym and did 35 minutes of a high intensity step class. It rocked! I just left after 30 minutes of true cardio.

I talked to a trainer at the club tonight (a female). She gave me some advice about cardio and BFL. She said many of her clients do BFL. She recommends that for women who have a lot of body fat that we do increase the cardio to 30 minutes (not including warm up). She said no longer, though. She said particularly for women who are not running, sprinting, or on another machine and are doing step or other aerobics it is hard for us to keep the intensity that BFL requires. So... the solution is if you are going to do aerobics do 30 min. She said unless you did exactly what bFL calls for with cardio then 20 min. is NOT enough! I am going to listen to her I think and move my step stuff up to 30 minutes. It just seems to make more sense. When I do the treadmill etc. I will do it exactly like BFL!

I also think I am going to start working other videos in. I am going to also try LL and S&H. I had excellent results the last time I did S&H rotation. I wonder if it will work well? I don't even remember what those 2 videos have on them it has been so long since I did them!

You all sound like you are doing so good. LoriHart... congrats on the 3 lbs loss. Must feel good. I can alread feel my body getting a bit more lean. Isn't it amazing what a good diet will do??

I have been good every day on the diet so far. I am so determined to follow this thing 100% and make a real go of it. I haven't been hungry at all or had any cravings hardly. I can tell though when it is time for a meal!!!

Gotta get to sleep! I am so tired!
 
Oops forgot to mention.... I am soooo confused with my workout schedule. I started this thing on a weird day... last Saturday Formally. I want to take my free day on Saturday, not Sunday. I am really sore from my workouts this week and really don't know what I should do to workout when I get home in the evening.

I did cardio tonight, PUB yesterday and PLB the day before. I switched the PUB and cardio around so I could do cardio at the club tonight (EAS said that was fine). But now I need your advice on what I should do tomorrow (friday)! The guy at EAS said do lite cardio.... however, my legs are sore and I am afraid of overtraining them. Maybe I should just wait and see how I feel tomorrow night. I am thinking I might even do some PS or MIS upper body if I am not feeling sore because I won't be scheduled for upper body again until Monday.

What do you guys think?

p.s. I am soooo ready to get on the formal BFL schedule that is in my journal I got from EAS. I really messed me up starting off track.
 
LuvCardio, I hear you on the book thing.I started off on a Wed.So I am really messed up.But I didn't take a rest day last week,or my so called cheat day.Tuesday would of been my day off but I just kept on going.I went right into lower body.Now, I am only 1 day behind the book.If I keep going again this week and not take a rest day,I will catch up exactly like the book.Last week I thought about catching right up to the book and doing my weight and cardio on the sameday but decided against it.I didn't mind not taking a rest day b/c I am not use to doing 3 days of cardio,more like 6/7 and then I usually take a rest day b/c I think my ankles are gonna fall offx(
Why don't you do your upperbody.It's been 3/4 days since you did it.I wouldn't go to long between strength workouts b/c you don't want to lose the strength your gaining.I have read before that it only takes a couple of days to go back to where you were when working out.I don't know how true that it but I did read it in a fitness magazine.Then if you want you could put a little bit of lite cardio in there later today?
I don't buy magazines anymore ladies.So, I know nothing about this challenge that anyone is talking about.I spend a fortune on mags in a month.I buy fitness,shape,self,oxygen,muscle and fitness hers,fit....and in the last few monthes I have learned NOTHING from them.I never do the workouts they put in there b/c I stick to my videos.So, I am offically giving up buying them!
I had a little chat with myself today.I told myself I had to stay on track.The first 3 lbs were easy comming off b/c it is probably water so the real stuff may be a little harder.I only have 7 weeks before my vacation so there is no room for failure.I will not tolerate it!!:+ :+ I don't mind a cheat, when it is cheat day.But not any'ol time at all.
My workouts are down pat as well.I like getting up at 6 in the morning.But then you have to go through the rest of the day.I may try...over the next couple of days to eat my meals 2 1/2 to 3 hours apart.I have been eating every 2 hours b/c of my schedule.But now that I work days for the next week it may be easier.I may get a little bit hungry then.Not that I am complaining!

Hi Everyone,

Did PUB this morning but I did it the BFL way. I agree Lori, that when she is back on her second set of 12 reps I fall right in line. didn't have to pause or fast forward. I think it works great. I also went heavier than I ever have with Hammers 17.5 pounds, it was great and made me feel good. Actually I think I went higher on a few exercises when I got to the 6 rep section.

Saturday is cardio and I think it will be our cheat day also since we are having friends over in the evening and will most likely order pizza, unless hubby surprises me and wants to BBQ.

I won't be back on til Monday since I look at the boards at work.

How would you guys rate animal crackers, only for cheat days or could I have a serving during the week? How about Nuts?

Hi Kristi!

That's okay about the sauce! I usually only have dishes with the erd sauce because it is so much lower in fat than the white sauce - I'm talking most jars not homemade, that I would know nothing about! :D

But what I do is make sure that I have a nice lean protein when I make spaghetti for instance. Like last night I made spaghetti, made turkey meatballs for the kids but I opted for grilled salmon. Normally I would have the meatballs but I really wanted that salmon! :)

I really try to save pasta for my cheat day but my youngest two are out of school today and I wanted them to have something easy to heat up for lunch. When they're off and get to cooking for themselves I come home to a sink a counter top full of dirty dishes. I don't so them - just make an announcement that certain teens need to have the kitchen spotless in 30 minutes or no dinner! :) Usually does the trick!

But I think the sauce would be okay just try to balance it with a good protein. And if the higher carb count continues to bother you just have an extra protein shake some time during the day or even just before going to bed.

LuvCardio - thanks for the tips from the trainer. I always wondered that about the cardio issue. I have a steper but don't always feel up to getting on it. And the jumprope is hard to gauge for levels especially if you can't jump continuously for 20 minutes without any breaks. So good, this means I can do Step & Intervals, Rhythmic Step and...... can I do IMAX 2? Would that count if I did 30 minutes of the actual workout? Are the time periods between intervals enough to be BFL cardio? Know what I mean?

I think I need to invest in more cardio tapes? Any recommendations? Do you think the CTX cardios will be enough or should I look for something else? Here's what I do have that I'm willing to work with from my small collection:

CTX Step & Intervals
CTX Power Circuit (would you even do this one? of course no weights during the leg circuits)
Rhythmic Step
Kathy Smith Kickboxing workout
Cardio & Weights (I could fast forward thru the weights)
Ropenastics
Power Step (K. Smith)
And IMAX 2 - how could I forget :)

Hmmmm, even to me it looks like I don't have much to work with!

I have to brag!!! I rolled out of bed at 5:45 and did Blast Mania on an empty stomach. Since we started I have done it 3 times. About 50%, but I am working to make it 100%. I think that is a good BFL cardio. It is more like HIIT, but it works good. I also will use my treadmill and do the Aerobic Solution, I just felt like following along today.

Angie- I think some of the CTX's are fine!!! All Step is tough and so is 10*10*10!!! That one is the worst to me. Even Step and Intervals is good. I will probably use some of them too from time to time. I just get so bored with doing the same thing day after day and then I start failing. It might not be perfect, but to me it is better to keep yourself interested and keep going than to quit.

So, my mom was right when she said I didn't listen to anyone! Remember I had a chat with myself today? That went in one ear and right out the other.I had ANOTHER bad day.But this one is diffently going to be considered as my cheat day.My next cheat day will be next saturday when it is my daugthers b-day and I will have a piece of cake.
This is also why I am eating easter eggs,b/c they are for her loop bags.If I don't watch it then I will have some BIG loop bags!I don't even want to tell you how many easter eggs I ate today(partly b/c I don't know ).I lose control once I let go.
I got my EAS products today.That will give me a reason to start fresh tomorrow.The CLA doesn't look anything like it did on the website.It says 100% safflower oil.I went into the website and the nutrition label is the same as the bottle but it doesn't mention anything about oil? I am confused.So I asked the question on BFL.Hopefully I will get an answer.It still says food supplement. BetaGen is a really small bottle for $90,hopefully that will go along way.I have alot of hopes today.
Another hope....hopefully, I will get back on track tomorrow!It has only been 10 days and I am already seeing results.You would think that that would be enough reason for me not to be eating easter eggs.I wouldn't even of went into that aisle if it wasn't for those damn loop bags!:+ :+ :+ :+

I am not having a good day either. I decided to take my cheat day today, and I am cheating a little more than I would like. I don't know if it is PMS or what, but I am totally swollen, and want to eat terribly. It is not supposed to be here until the 25th but maybe it is coming sooner??? Sometimes the week before the week before is worse for me. Well, I will be back on track tomorrow with PY UB. We are going to my mom and dad's for dinner, but I hate poork roast and will bring my own food.

Today is going good so far.I got up and did PLB and then I wanted to do some cardio b/c of all the easter eggs yesterday but there was no way that my legs were going to take me through cardio.I tried but they were just to weak.I wanted to try squats with 60lbs but there was no way it was going over my head.
I drank my BetaGen before my workout and it was yummy! Very tasty.I thought the bottle was small for the price but the scoop is only small so that makes up for the small bottle.I never did find out about my CLA,I opened the bottle anyway and started taking them.It is getting really complicated now.
I have to take BetaGen,coffee and Xendrine before my morning workout.I have been taking xendrine to wake me up but I don't know if it really works.Then eat my breakfast,take two CLA.Have meal #2.Meal #3 ,take BetaGen,two CLA and my food.Meal #4.Meal #5 two CLA and before I go to bed some more BetaGen.I am going to be really impressed with myself if I remember to take all that stuff.
Anyway,must go eat Meal#3,CLA and BetaGen:7

Hi girlies. You girls quit worrying about cheating on your cheat day! We are suppose to! You have worked so hard the past 2 weeks! Don't get down on yourself! Think of all the things you have done right! Write it in your journal and go back and look at the previous pages and all the hard work you have put into this program. Doing this has helped me a lot.

Enjoy your free day... it is your day. I figure I will have some good free days and some bad ones. Hang in there and be proud of all the things you have done right!!!!

Today is my free day too. I was good for breakfast and only had egg beaters with some veggies in it, then I had a wheat english muffin, and a morning star veggie sausage patty. We are going to the mountains today! It is beautiful outside. We are going to eat at our favorite mexican place in this little mountain town and then who knows where we'll end up for dinner?

I had to take a free workout day yesterday since I was all messed up with my book days. I stuck to the diet though. I called EAS and they said it was better to take 2 workout rest days than to over-train. I was really sore in the legs from the days before and it was too early to lift my upper body according to them and BFL. They said even if you aren't sore your muscles are still recovering and that you should have 72 hours between mucscle wt workouts. It is hard for me to do this because I would have loved to do upper body yesterday but I listened to their advice x( Hopefully it is right!
