best fitness magazine

I get Shape and Self magazines and I barely skim through them because every month they are almost the same. BORING! I used to get Natural Health and for some reason I stopped. I think I might get that one again. I know it's not a "fitness" magazine, but it makes you think about other avenues of health.

I also need to renew Oxygen, but I got an issue of Muscle & Fitness Hers at the store yesterday and I liked it. It used to have more of a bodybuilding focus, but now it seems like a cross between Oxygen and Fitness/Shape (I think it's owned by the Shape people too). It wasn't all about eating 10 egg whites and protein shakes and no carbs- it even profiled a diet that included bread! But it wasn't a lot of fluff either.

It just depends on what you're looking for. One thing I hate is those 7-page "special ad sections"!!!

I don't like Muscle&Fitness Hers anymore, this is my last issue and I am not renewing. I think the best fitness magazines out there are for men. I subscribe to Muscle Media and Mens Health and I have got some great information from them, they always come up with new ways to do your strength workouts, and great information on nutrition. It seems that the female magazines are full of workout routines that we have all been doing for years, I am so beyond that.

It sounds like we all agree that Shape has gone downhill as far as a "fitness" magazine goes. I just picked up the new Oxygen mag and I found lots of very helpful information and articles in it this month. Now, to find the time to sit down and really read them through. :) Fall seems to be just as busy as summer around our house.

I also put my vote in for Energy, i wish that one was every month and not every two months.

It's weird somebody started this thread!! Coincidentally, before logging in here this morning, I had just posted a letter to the editor of M&F Hers to tell them how disappointed I was with their new format. I used to totally love that magazine, now its indistinguishable from Shape or Fitness.

I was sure glad to find out that I wasn't the only one who thought it had changed!

I'll let you all know if I get a response from the editiors.
