Best Cathlete Advice Ever

Natasha, I have to share this with you since you mentioned the 50yrs+ folks! I will be 60 in November and I literally had to fight back tears today when I completed TTM! Not sure why, but when I finished, I just had such an awesome, emotional feeling with such a FUN workout and thinking about the fact that I'm not a youngin' anymore but I was able to get thru it and survived to tell about it. I'm indebted to Cathe for sharing her talents with me and making me push beyond what I'd ever do on my own if that makes sense. Just thought I'd share.

Debbie,

Your story was so beautiful :). You don't look anywhere near 60, I can tell you that! I hope to tell your same story one day. Thank you SO much for sharing :).

Debbie -

You are amazing. I know what you mean about Cathe pushing us to new heights and am truly grateful for her. I saw you at the Chicago RT and cannot relieve you are almost 60. You are so inspiring to me! One on,y has to loom at your avatar pic to see why!

Thank you! That's so kind! Yes, Cathe pushes me to work hard! I'm trying to figure out who Trixoo was at the RT? :D

Omg Debbie I thought u was at then most 40! I cannot beleive it! Have u always been fit?

Renee, Thank You...you made my day! :D I started getting into fitness back in the early 80's. I've lost all my grandparents, aunts, uncles and my Dad to heart history and just decided way back when that I needed to do something to ward it off! One of the best things was finding Cathedotcom in December of '99! She's taken me beyond anything I'd ever do on my own and every year her workouts get better & better! Again, thank you, that was so sweet of you to say!

Thank you Natasha! You're so kind! I know you will be saying the same thing at 60! I always have teased my students by telling them I'll be 90 in Spandex! Ha! :p

Sorry for hijacking this thread!

Debbie It was only true! You should be her success stories and proof that working out is truly the fountain of youth.
May I ask how you eat? I need to lose 25 to 30 pounds. I feel then low fat way helped me yrs ago and thinkibg of dping it again. Paleo seem hard to sustain.

Curious as to what is ur opinion. Hummm should I have PM about this? I figured others may want to hear ur advice as well.

My name is Pam, but we never got a chance to actually meet/talk at the RT; however, during Sunday morning's boot camp, when we split into two groups and did walking lunges across the ballroom floor, that was me who said "Hi Cycle Max Debbie!" as we passed each other headed to the opposite ends of the room. :).

That brought tears to MY eyes Debbie! Thank you for sharing.

When I was younger, I used to think that 60 looked like Aunt Bee on the Andy Griffith show, which of course I thought was ANCIENT. I look back at pics of the actress who played Aunt Bee now and I can see it was just the hair and the dress. Here she is at age 62 and (if you ignore the matronly hair and dress) I think she looks great. And here's another before she moved to Mayberry. ;)

Long story short, 60 isn't that old to me anymore, but even so, Debbie makes whatever age she is look fabulous. More importantly, she's keeping her heart healthy so she'll be with us for a very long time to come! :D

Oops, sorry for continuing the hijack.

First of all, let me say that Debbie looks fabulous period. She doesn't just "look good for 60".... she looks good for any age.

When people tell me I don't look my age, I always thank them because I know they are trying to compliment me, but then I usually tell them that this is what 56 (or whatever age I am) looks like. Who is to say what a 56 year old (or 60 or 70 year old) looks like anyway? Like mentioned above, what 50+ looks like now is completely different from what it looked like in years past. Fashions change, people take better care of themselves, and as the generations go by people just look better in general. In twenty or thirty years, who knows... people may look back at my photo and say that I was matronly or dated or older looking ocompared to what a 50+ year old looks like at that point in time.
