Bento's ASC

I'm recently new to Amy Bento, I have KB Extreme and really like it, so I figured I'd try a step w/o. I picked up ASC at DeepDiscount for cheap and tonight is the 1st night I've tried it. Holy Smokes!!! That's an ankle twister!! I had the step on 4 inches and the 1st combo is a doozy. What she calls the front of the step (the far side) I consider the back. The front is the side I work from (the close side) I was all turned around and mixed up and on the wrong side. And I could do the crazy feet around the world thing in the demo, but for the life of me couldn't get it in the workout. That woman moves FAST!!!!! The other combos were a bit easier, but I notice she mixes right and left up a few times. I think I'll like it and burn major butter, but there is a learning curve on this one. Please, someone tell me it will get easier!!!

I can't say this one will get easier! I don't do it all that often but I have only mastered the first two combos...and still have not done the fast feet shuffle or whatever she calls it. The only way I was able to finally get the first two combos was just repeating them over and over again until I got it. For a workout I would do warmup, combo 1, combo 1, combo 1...cooldown!! Amy Bento is not kidding when she calls her workouts Advanced Step. I keep buying them though because they are different and I like Amy's personality.

I LLLOOOVVVVEEEEE Amy Bento. Her choreography is so fresh, energetic, and works not only your body but your mind as well. It will get easier over time as in you'll get the moves down better but won't get any easier heart wise. Everytime I pull this one out I get a great workout. Can you tell I love her stuff!!! For all of her workouts it is worth it to take the time to get the moves down because once you do, it is so fun to just flow and go with the music. Awesome!

I can't say that I've mastered ASC yet, but I know it well enough to be able to get through the whole thing with just a few stumbling moves -- like most of us, I do lots of different workouts, so in complicated ones like these it's sometimes hard to stay proficient.

I'm a stickler when it comes to learning step choreography, but at the same time I don't think I pick it up very fast. I learned ASC a combo at a time, rewinding and retrying until after about the fourth workout I made it through all of them. I just started with ASC II and after 90 minutes only made it through the warmup (whew!) and the first combo -- but I had fun and will relearn that one and tackle the next when I get a chance to put it into a rotation. And I have ASCIII on preorder ;)

Like the rest of you, I learn Amy's workouts one warm up, one combo at a time. There is a learning curve to her teaching/cueing esp. since she uses different names for moves than Cathe does. (Amy's arabesque = Cathe's leg extension). ITA that its sooooo worth it. I love her stuff. BTW, I've heard from those who take her LIVE classes, that her dvds are a LOT slower. Yikes!!

Don't give up. I put that one back on the shelf for about 6 months after trying it once! I pulled it out again, and worked on it until I had it. Now I love it. It is well worth the time to learn.

Amy's ASCs are definitely not something you can just jump into. I'm choreographically challenged & I have to preview her step DVDs 5-6 times before I even attempt them. Then the first 5 times or so I do them without turns, pivots, etc until I have the basics down. But don't give up--it's a ton of fun once you nail it!

Oddly enough, I don't have the same problems w/her hi/lo, which all seem to be pretty similar so once you get one down the rest are pretty easy.

ASC is probably the hardest to learn, because it was one of Amy's first dvds. She has improved greatly from ASC to ASC 2, and cues much better. Using her tutorial is a great help also. Her choreography is still very difficult, but I find her later workouts are so much better ( especially after going to Greg Twombly for production ).
ASC 3 should be rolling out soon, and I cannot wait for it to get to my door!

I started with ASCII and fell in love with the fun factor. I just now managed to get through ASC without problems on probably my 5th time through. Again I found the fun factor huge. Don't forget the power ups, I didn't find those until my 4th time through it. I too am psyched up for ASCIII. I hear it's on its way within the next couple weeks or so. Yeah!
