Ben Wa Balls ... You HAVE to see this!

Hey y'all, bookmark this post and come back when you have time to spend 15 minutes.

I ran across some FASCINATING discussions over at Video Fitness about Anna Benson (founder of The FIRM) and her latest DVD's, which are workouts for women with a special focus on your pelvic floor. To do these workouts, you need a little fitness gadget that Anna sells on her website (http://www.fitnessfavorites.com) called "Smart Balls", or you can buy an alternative product known as "Ben Wa Balls". Here's the thing that caught my eye: during the workout you wear your Smart Balls or Ben Wa Balls internally, ladies.

In deference to Dave's and Bill's and Jerry's presence here (hi guys, how ya doin'? ;-)), I will not venture another word of explanation. You're gonna have to research this for yourselves. :)

Here are the VF threads:

http://forum.videofitness.com/showthread.php?t=110874 (Don't miss Anna on Youtube, as linked in this thread!)

http://forum.videofitness.com/showthread.php?t=111129&page=1&pp=10 (Discussion of Smart Balls and Ben Wa Balls)

And here's a particularly, um, lovely set of Ben Wa Balls at Amazon:

One more IMPORTANT thing -- We're such a diverse community now that I wouldn't be surprised if we have members here who are familiar with all of these gadgets and techniques, or who use them, maybe with Anna's DVD's. More power to you, ladies, and I really do mean that sincerely. (No pun intended! :)) I'm sure Anna Benson is equally sincere in her passionate belief that these workouts fill a need in the fitness market, and perhaps they do, who knows? I just know that in my book there are very few topics that can't benefit from or withstand a little gentle humor. This is, IMHO, DEFINITELY such a topic, and I can't resist passing along these discussion threads -- and the unintentionally hilarious Amazon sales page -- to you all. I hope you enjoy them in the spirit in which they're offered to you! :)

Oh I have seen these babies!:7 I thought they might be a good idea to help one "remember" to do the Kegels.

Blush.I actually have a pair of these but they don't have a string attached to either side, I have honestly never used them, wasn't sure how, and I sure wasn't going to ask the dork that works behind the counter of an adult toy store--yeah, you can get 'em in those places.;)

Sigh, yet another set of "muscles" we have to worry about keeping toned..albeit, at least they are "fun" ones right?;) :7 :7 I try and remember to do about 50 Kegels after my ab workouts....gonna run over to the VF forum and take a lookey now that I have totally embarassed myself.:*

***Tries to wipe tears from eyes and coffee off computer screen after reading the VF threads***

Those threads are WAY too funny (all I can think about is the "coochie crunches" and "Jingle Bells") - hee hee! :7 Yes, I've heard of Ben-Wa balls before, but haven't had the guts to try' em out yet. . . . maybe this will inspire me . . . oh, and Kathryn, I loved your new name for Obi! ;-)

***still laughing and chuckling***

OMG! I nearly spit my wine all over my laptop when I read about the "human jingle bells!!" I don't have a problem with instructors helping people who are trying to firm up certain muscles. I could use some help myself, but THIS set of equipment is handsdown hilarious! You made my night with this posting! **snorts again and goes off to refill wine glass**

Chocolate IS the answer, regardless of the question.

I guess with this one, DH wouldn't fuss about spending $$ on yet another piece of "fitness" equipment!!

Everything old is new again....:) The first time I read about ben wa balls was in the classic, must read, "Everything You Ever wanted to Know About Sex but Were Afraid to Ask". Fascinating, I remember a reference to elderly asian women happily whiling away the hours in rocking chairs:eek: ;-) }(

The thing that irked me about the Anna Benson clip was that she incorrectly referred to the perineum (pubococcygeal muscles) as the peritoneum (membrane that forms the lining of the abdominal cavity) but I digress....

I'm thinking ben wa balls are going to be a growth industry, working muscles, heavy breathing, breaking a sweat, maybe even a little 'woo hoo'... hmmmm...maybe I need to invest..;-)

Take Care

Hahaha! Lost her marbles! Get it? Marbles? Lost 'em? Fell out, perhaps?

Heh. Well, I thought it was funny. Heehee. :p

Omigoodness, I can't believe reviewer number 2 on amazon! :7  :7
Thanks for sharing Kathy. I needed a good laugh.

OMG, I am laughing so hard right now. I read the reviews on the amazon site and was hysterical over the human jingle bell comment. LOL!!

I had no idea that one had to wear them while going about ones business!

I thought they were used when you wanted to "workout" those "special muscles" only? You know, like any other muscle group?

Oh dear, oh dear....thats all I can say about this right now...
