beginners rotation question

I am a bit confused as I have been doing cathe's beginners rotation. On some days it specifies upper (or lower) body hand weights add-on from Basic Step and Body Fusion and other days it specifies upper (or lower) body tubing add-on. I don't see these as separate add-ons on my DVD, so I assumed this meant to choose only the hand weight exercises on that day, or the tubing exercises. What doesn't make sense to me is that when I chose the upper body exercises with hand weights, there were only like 4. Is this right? Should i really only be doing 4 upper body exercises on that day? is there any particular reason why I should not do the entire upper body add-on with both hand weights and tubing?

Appreciate some advice!

Although I don't know for sure my guess is that because its a beginners rotation the assumption is made that people doing it have never (or in a long time) lifted any kind of weights... if thats the case it would make sense to start off slow because muscle soreness is sure to follow... If you are more advanced than this you can always modify and do a total upper 1 day and a total lower 1 day. Thats the beauty of rotations, once you know your body you can adjust up or down on recommendations.

thanks for the feedback. I think I was assuming this was beginner as in new to Cathe not beginner as in new/returning to working out. I am DEFINITELY a beginner as far as the step routines are concerned, but I will plan to do the complete upper and lower body add-ons throughout this rotation. Wanted to make sure there was not some magic to breaking it up that way that I was not aware of...

thanks so much!
