Beginner Rotation - starting Monday, August 15, 2011

Good morning, I got up early and got my workout done!! Yay!

I did 25 minutes on the recumbent bike followed by KCM's Split Sessions Upper Body, another good little workout!

Tomorrow I'm taking a rest day, Mondays are bad enough and after working all weekend (and working Monday), I'm going to look forward to coming home from work and doing nothing!

That workout has a nice little quote..."Don't quit because it's hard, keep going because it's hard".

Today was weigh-in, down a bit but basically no real scale progress since I started tracking things about 3 weeks ago :( Maybe it's my age?? (And I could really do without these irregular cycles....grrr!)

I'm sitting here contemplating what workouts I will do this week. I managed to get in 5 workouts this past week. I usually only have time for 4. I've narrowed it down to these two rotations, however I doubt I'll do the whole month, just pick a week or two here from either one of these and make substitutions/modifications where I need to. Most weeks are 6 workouts but that never happens with my work schedule, but these are giving me some ideas. I find I get too complacent and do a workout just to say I "worked out". I've been really trying to incorporate a vision or goal with each week or even each workout. As I was riding the stationary bike this morning, I thought next time I'm going to either increase the time, the rpm's or the level.

Here's the two rotations I'm eyeing...

Stacy - you did a fantastic job on your workouts this past week. I don't know how you do it with your long work schedule, but you did !!! Way to go !!!

I agree that having a workout schedule planned for the upcoming week makes it a whole lot easier to get it done. If I don't have a set plan, I don't do it. Both of those look good. The 2nd one appeals to me more because I'm more familiar with the DVDs in it.... which one calls to you?

I got to the gym and did about 1 1/2 miles on the treadmill... then decided since it was almost time for the step class to start that I'd go join in. So I did the one hour step class. It was fun. I need to start doing that every Sunday.

Deanna - how was your little cousin's birthday party? I'll bet it was a lot of fun. I hope the weather in Vegas is continuing to be nice. It's been absolutely gorgeous here in NC for the last 7 - 10 days. It's about to turn though.... rain will be here Tues, Wed and maybe part of Thursday. But I'm not complaining.... we desperately need rain. We had a super hot and super dry summer.

FnV - I hope things are settling down a little bit. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Hang in there...

Off to do something.... lol.. not sure what..... but something...

Hey Gang :)

The birthday party was fun yesterday.

My butt is killing me from that hill at the Golf Course yeserday. I mapped out the Walk/Run my son and I take around the neiborhood it is 1.5 miles, that is a good distance. There is a 5K 1 Mile in my neiborhood next Saturday I am thinking about participating. :) I am actually looking to join a Walking/Running Club. I have not been lucky enough to find one in my area, they are all across town, so I may just have to continue to open my front door and Walk the 1.5 miles.

Okay Monday is Low Impact Step on the Beginner Rotation, I am going to try to do it before work so that I can do the 1.5 miles in the evening.

I have been relaxing all day so I better get up and at least do the laundry. So you ladies have a great night and I will check back in the AM.

Deanna

Good evening...ate too much today, but it was a relaxing day!

Deanna...your walk sounds fun! Too bad we dont live closer I'd love to be your walking buddy! I used to have one but we work opposite hours :(

Susan...I looked over the rotations I posted and decided not to do either, lol. I dont want any major commitments. My general goal is each week, if i'm not too tired or my knees dont ache, to try one workout that I consider "too hard" and just push myself out of my comfort zone a bit even if I dont finish it. Your Sunday class sounds fun! I'd love to join a gym only for a spinning class but my work schedule is so crazy that I'd never be able to know for sure if I could make any of the class times.

FnV...sending good vibes your way!

To all the group

Dear ladies,

How are you? Hope you are taking shape.
I am so glad I found your group, I have not read all your posts, but I read how you all started recently and have been great help to each other.
And since all of you started Cathe only a little while ago, you might well remember how you felt as total beginners and that;s why I turn to you.

I need your help regarding OFFICIAL CATHE BEGINNER ROTATION, as I am nearly ready to kick my butt!! but I am lost.

According to the workout plan, there are 3 featured DVDs-
1. Basic Step and Body fusion (she says they are both on ONE DVD)
2. Low impact Step and Total body sculpting (also both on ONE DVD)
3. Total Body Stretching

My problems/questions are as follows:

Firstly, on the download list I could not find downloads with exact names on the website. So I ended up buying
1. Cathe body fusion download
2. Cathe low impact step
3.Cathe total body stretching

HAVE I PURCHASED THE RIGHT DOWNLOADS????

Secondly, After the purchase I began to realize that my problems are only about to begin: The downloads are not chaptered,

I mean- without contents page, where you can jump between introduction, pre-mixes, add ons etc. ( I do not know- is it just the downloads that are not chaptered? I have a few Cathe DVDs and they are chaptered.) So- my LOW impact Step download is as it is- a whole in one piece, so how am I going to do Basic Step + upper body hand weight ADD ON, for instance,on Wednesday and One segment of Total body Stretching + the abdominal ADD ON from basic Step on Sunday, if the download is in one piece????
Ladies, PLEASE< HELP ME!!!!

With Love, Leanne

Morning Ladies, I am up and dreading working out it's just one of those Morning. The hardest part is doing it and before you know it, its over and behind you.

Stacy, I wish we lived near one another as well I would love to have you as my walking buddy. :)

gudzi2008 (Leanne) - Congrats on starting your Cathe workout, she is great.
I apologize I am not knowledgeable with downloads, I only purchase DVD's. I think our buddy Faithnveggies would be the expert in this area. Hopefully she will be able to answer your question. Today starts our 8th or 9th week of the Beginner Rotation, however please feel free to post your workouts and any questions you may have. Good Luck. :)

Okay ladies I have to let this computer go and go do Low Impact Step. I will post after I complete it.

Deanna

Good morning everyone !!!

Stacy - I know you'll do well on your workouts no matter what the plan. You've been doing really really really well !!!

Deanna - Love your walking plans. There is nothing like getting outside with all that fresh air and sunshine and taking it all in while you walk. I miss that. You are inspiring me to get outside and start walking again... even if it is without my precious best friend.. my dog... sigh...

FnV - Sending good thoughts your way for a better week !!!

Leanne - Welcome to the group !!! Jump right in. We are all very supportive. Deanna and I are on Day 1 of Week 8 in the Beginner Rotation... although I'm being a rebel and doing my own rotation these days... lol

Unfortunately, I can't help you with the download questions... I've never tried to download a workout and I have never even looked at the list.

On the Body Fusion download - I think the first question.. on that one and the Low Impact Step download is whether they are just that or whether they also include Basic Step (with Body Fusion) and Total Body Sculpting (with the Low Impact Step download.)

You will need all of these to do the Beginner Rotation:
Basic Step
Body Fusion
Low Impact Step
Total Body Sculpting
Total Body Stretching

So... for me.. that's the first question... do you have them all or not?

Leanne - see my later post further down....... I found some answers for you...

As to chaptering.... I have no idea on the downloads.

Perhaps Stacy or FnV will know..... and/or perhaps you can post the question about the downloads in the Downloads forum... I think there is one?????

Once you get the technical issues resolved, this is the place to be for motivation and support !!

We CAN do this... we ARE doing it !!!

cause we ROCK (tm FnV) :D

Monday morning report - I'm heading off to the gym for a meeting with the treadmill as per the Susan Rotation :p

I weighed myself this morning. After 3 1/2 days of good eating and 3 1/2 days of so-so eating.... I lost 1 pound this past week. Yea !!!!!!!!!!!

Of course, that only makes up for the 1/2 pound gain the week before and the 1/2 pound gain the week before that... lol

So I'm back to 2.5 pounds total lost in 6 weeks. Not great but it is a loss.
When we started, I was hoping for a 2 to 3 pound loss per month, so I'm a little behind schedule, but that's okay.. as long as the overall trend is in the right direction !!!

Progress, NOT perfection my friends..

Onward we go !!!!!!!!

back later......

Leanne - I just went to the download website and did some exploring.

In the search box at the upper right, type in Basic Step and it will take you to the Basic Step download. Same with Total Body Sculpting.

The DVDs are 2 workouts on the same DVD i.e.
Basic Step & Body Fusion
Low Impact Step & Total Body Sculpting

but for the downloads they are separate workouts that you have to buy individually.

so ... once you buy Basic Step and Total Body Sculpting, you'll be ready to start.

I am guessing there are no chapters because each is a separate workout.

I have no idea whether you have the 3 add-ons though ... I guess the only way to find out is to watch the Basic Step and Body Fusion downloads all the way though and see if the add-ons are included with one of those...

okay... off to the gym I go..

see y'all later...

Make it a good day and don't let the negative people at work get to you !!!!

Okay Ladies I got it done, 320 Calories burned this morning. :)

Again, I am going to really kick my workout up by walking/jogging 1.5 miles per day as often as I can. The weather is in the 70's or 80's and I am taking advantage of it. :) I am going to look into that 5K 1Miles in my neborhood Saturday the 15th. If I do not participate in that, I will just go right outside my front door and Walk/Jog.

I have not weighed myself, due to the fact that I find the scale depressing. I know I have lost inches because my clothes fit different. As a matter of fact I put on some old shorts this morning to do Low Impact Step and they were falling off. :) I have some skinny jeans and a Jean suit in my closet, I try it on once a week or once every two weeks, that is my guide. When I can get those clothes over my THIGHS, I will get on the scale. :)

Okay, running a little late let me get moving so I can get to work on time. Will check back later while at work or after my 1.5 Walk/Job.

Have a Blessed Day
Deanna

Feeling healthier, having more energy and having our clothes fit better are all better indicators of how we are doing than the scale !!!

gym report - I did my 3 miles on the treadmill. I also have to do my squats for the Squat Challenge program..... first, I'm having my 2nd cup of coffee as I always do when I get home from the gym..... after I've eaten some protein, of course. Plain Greek yogurt.... the best... I don't have any berries to put on it this morning though.... I'm out... that's not good...

Have a great day Team !!!

We ROCK (tm FnV) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello Ladies, I am still at work viewing the forums and I noticed my status changed from Member to Catheite. What determines you a Catheite?

Thanks
Deanna

FOUND THE ANSWER BY DOING A SEARCH, THIS IS THE ANSWER. You are a member until you've posted 100 then you become and Catheite. After 300 you are a Cathlete. I'm not sure but I think it's like 10,000 before you graduate to a DeCathlete.

Hey Workout Buddies, I do not know how long this energy or determination is going to last but I am going to take advantage of it while it is present. I did Low Impact Step this morning before work and came home this evening and did a 3 Mile Walk/Jog with my son and the dog. :) The dog was much better this time around but she is exhausted...LOL I like doing this with my son because he will push me. He would take the dog leash and tell me to try and run to a certain point. I tell you this Walking/Jogging is addictive and almost orgasmic....LOL..Total Calories burned today with the two (2) workouts 538. Deanna is doing a happy dance. :)

I am going to attempt this 3 times per week on my Cardio days. The other 2 or 3 days I am going to do weights, squats, Lungs, sit-up, dips and push-up. I am going to continue my Cathe workouts in the AM and in the evening I will do the others, whenever I can. This should through my body into some type of shock, and hopefully kick up the toning process.

Everyone have a wonderful weekend, will check back in the AM.

Deanna

Sounds like everyone is doing great!!

To our newbie, I'm afraid I dont have any download knowlege :( But, welcome aboard!!

No workout for me today, and I actually got out of work at a decent hour to boot! I "celebrated" by getting 4 loads of laundry done!

I never got around to figuring out a workout plan for the week, but I'm leaning towards a circuit week this week. I have some errands to do this morning and some relatives coming in town this weekend, so circuits may allow me to get in a little of everything this week. We'll see what I'm in the mood for tomorrow!

I'll check back tomorrow!

Hi guys, been really busy and worried about my dtr but hopefully all is ok there, she has a lump under her skin. New class at school has been even more work than I thought....anyway...

Yes, I have some downloads but I haven't been too happy with how they play (slight lag w/ sound and vid) and can't figure out if it is my computer or not. But, if you use downloads, download the Workout Blender (as opposed to the Workout Manager which has body stats page, wt and bmi goals, plus calendar for planning workouts), stuff like that...Anyway, with Blender you can mix and match chapters of different workouts or dble up on stuff---me? I'd leave stretch out or warm up, or maybe take a step section from one workout and a section of step from another. I am pretty much sticking to DVDs tho.

Thanks for the support and good vibes and good ideas on how to stay on track. Everyone is doing so well, it is awesome. I'm trying to think of this time as extra rest for my improving knee. I've eaten apple, egg white wake up wrap from DD, coffees w/ cream...

Yesterday had a huge treat, good friend made a traditional English high tea and we had celebration for one of the besties....ttyl

Morning Ladies, I am up dreading doing my workout. Once I get started I am fine but getting started is the hardest part. It is nice and cool in my house this moring around 70 degrees, which mean I will not have to have the fans while working out. Okay let me get my butt up and get started. I feel so much better once its over, a since of accomplishment.

I am schedule to do Total Body Sculpting from the Low Impact Step dvd. Okay I will check back after I have completed it.

Deanna

Okay Ladies I completed Total Body Sculpting. I am gong to ATTEMPT additional Upper Body and Ab exercise after work by doing Push-Ups on the Ball, Sit-Ups, Crunches and Dips. I am also going to ATTEMPT to do exercise for my saddle bags (Plie Squats, Roundhouse Kicks, Side Lunges, Soccor hop and Side Leg Raise. Wish me luck. :)

Good morning everyone !!!

Deanna - I love your enthusiastic new plan !!! It's similar to what I've been trying to do... i.e. add treadmill time in addition to doing the Cathe workouts. It sounds like you and the dog and your son are having a great time on your evening walks !!! Great job !!!

Stacy - laundry is important :D Circuits sound perfect for your busy schedule. Cathe does a lot of circuit DVDs... I guess I should give them a try sometime. I'm more of a cardio one day, weights the next day kinda person... but ya never know.

FnV - sending good thoughts and prayers for you and your daughter. It is so scary when we think something may be wrong with our children. It sounds like you are optimistic, so that's terrific !!!!

I'm sitting here... finish up my coffee..... debating whether to go to the gym and do the 45 minute dancing aerobics class before I do my upper body workout at home ... or... just stay home and do my DVD.... hmmmm.. I need to decide soon...

I'll check back later..

Make it a great day team !!!

Progress, NOT perfection.....
