Hi Debbie,

I'm going to try it tomorrow. I'm trying to follow Cathe's December rotation. I'll let you know how it feels!! I have one stupid question. When she says 2-pound weights, does she mean one pound on each leg, or two pounds on each leg?

Val~Ankle Weights!

When she says two pounds, she means two pounds on EACH leg! Now...How scared are YOU??? Ha! I used 2 & 1/2 on each leg. Each segment is not too long til she gets to the floor work and does 80 zillion inner thigh leg lifts. Wooo-boy, you feel it bigtime then. Have FUN!

RE: Hi KathyH!

I just got notification that my DVD will arrive today! Can't wait to hear this Jurassic Park music you are referring to. I never saw the movie so doubt I will recognize it.

I can't believe PP has only one set of each exercise. What did Cathe have in mind with that??? How am I going to make any strength gains?

Very curious,
Nancy

Nancy, re: Push Pull

Nancy, if ya never saw Jurassic Park, rent it. Great movie -- lots of fun, terrific scenery, cast, great John Williams music. A super popcorn flick. The music's great whether or not you've seen the film, but the film score is really gorgeous and majestic.

Push Pull is a gem. It's just a fabulous workout and believe me, if you heavy up you'll feel it with only one set. I was definitely sore. Cathe intended to create a time-saving option for us, I think, but also set this up so that if you have an hour or 90 minutes to spend you can add concentrated work on one, two or more areas. Here's what she has to say about Push Pull on the DVD order page:

Push & Pull:
Push Pull is a 45 minute total body workout which features many new and refreshing exercises to keep your muscles stimulated in new ways. The focus of this workout is to promote muscle balance as well as strength and endurance gains through exercise variety and balance challenges. We use the stability ball quite a bit in this workout to create this added balance challenge which in turn promotes even greater muscle recruitment. It's important to point out that when using a stability ball you should use a lighter weight than you typically would for a given exercise since the unstable environment makes the muscles work harder to stabilize. As your body gets acclimated this "wobbly" environment you'll find that you are able to gradually increase your weights again.

The soundtrack to this workout is filled with soft rock classics. Here is a list of the songs:

Walking In Memphis
Freedom
Our Friends Are Electric
Breakfast at Tiffany's
In The Living Years
Dreams
Sleeping Sattelite
This ain't a love song
Missing

Keep in mind that for muscle balance we are doing one muscle group then the opposing muscle group. In most cases this is anterior (front) and posterior (back) but when it comes to shoulders we have both anterior (front delt) and posterior (rear delt) as well as superior (mid/top delt) and inferior (lats) which are directly beneath them.

The exercises for Push Pull are as follows:

Barbell Squats (legs with focus on quads)
Deadlifts (legs with focus on glutes/hamstrings)
Static lunge with heel lifted (legs with focus on quads)
Leg Press (legs with focus on glutes/hamstrings)
Bench press on ball (chest)
Deadrows (back)
flys on ball (chest)
Y's on ball (thats the Push Pull picture where we had our arms going back with thumbs up...for upper back)
Inverted shoulder press on high step (top/mid delt)
One arm row (back/lats which are beneath shoulders)
Front raise on ball (front shoulder)
Rear delt raise on ball (back shoulder)
Bicep curls with ball (biceps)
Slow Dips/immediately to kickbacks (tricep)
Outer thigh on ball
Inner thigh with ball
Superman on ball (low back)
Crunches with ball (abdominals)
Calve raises
Tibialis Anterior w/ball (shins)
Full Body Stretch

You may initially find this workout to be easier since you are learning to make adjustments for the new variety, but once you have worked through this, form and concentration is of the utmost importance for optimal muscle recruitment. Feel free to add sets to any of the exercises for an even greater challenge. The DVD version will offer premixes with multiple set options.

Equipment needed: a High Step, barbell, various weighted dumbbells, and a stability ball.

RE: BB DVD's & that Jurassic Park music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Hi everybody! Do you get that cool Jurassic Park music on the main menu screen for the Timesaver DVD? Mine is completely silent. My other DVDs play the music at that screen, but not Timesaver. Please tell me everyone else's is like that too;-)

RE: Hey Deb re: L&G

Hi Debbie and Kathy,

I did L&G today with the Push Pull tape rotation, as suggested by Cathe. Boy, what a workout. I did it this morning, and I'm feeling mighty sore now!! Glad tomorrow is a rest day!!

Timesaver Menu

Hi Kari! The main screen on my Timesaver is silent as well. This is the only one that is silent.

Love the Jurrasic Park music, too. The song during the SS cooldown is cool, too. I want to get up and start dancing which would be really scary considering I have absolutely no rhythm!

RE: BB DVD's & that Jurassic Park music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Vickie & Kathy, thanks for your replies. Glad to know it's not just me who has a silent Timesaver screen. Vickie, unfortunately I'm one of those few who got the Timesaver DVD (so now I've got two) in my Supersets & Push Pull case so I'll have to wait a bit before I can hear the cool music in the cooldown of SS. Something else to look forward to!
Kathy, I loved your description of sitting there with a goofy grin staring at the TV - - I can relate & my husband has caught me doing the same! He thinks I'm an absolute nut about Cathe, but he indulges my obsession ;)

RE: BB DVD's & that Jurassic Park music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Oh dear! You got the wrong DVD in the PP case? I just opened mine when I read that, but it's okay.

Based on the description that Kathy S. gave, I think I may start with the extra sets. I was one of those who asked Cathe for shorter workouts, but I didn't mean the WHOLE BODY in less than 45 minutes! My dream workout would have 3 workouts that are EACH less than 45 mins. But each one would cover different muscle groups. This may sound silly, but the problem with doing a whole body workout is that there is nothing to do the next day because every muscle group is recuperating!

Anyway, I am excited about trying PP and SS and fooling around with all the available variations! I won't have time until Sunday to get into them, but I can't wait!! :7 Karri, I'm sure SNM will get the right DVD to you very soon.

Kathy- how is your DSL doing? Isn't it awful when the DSL goes out?? I feel for you!

Hi Kathy!

Thank you for your caring! Julie is still the same. Spends MOST of her time in bed or on the couch. We try to get Kennedy as much as possible. We were SUPPOSED to pick her up yesterday for two days but Dave came down with an awful cold and Kennedy has brochial problems when she is exposed to the common cold. :-( Thank you for asking. Hopefully, maybe after a few more weeks she will get a lil' better. She had a couple good days about a week ago but has reverted back! I'll keep you posted. How ya' doin' down there in sunny Atlanta?http://www.click-smilies.de/sammlung0903/natur/nature-smiley-006.gif[/img]

What's the deal with that one song ( I think in KPC) - the music is going along (instrumental I think) and all of a sudden there's a sound like the dryer when it's done with a load. It goes off every minute or so. I wasn't doing laundry at the time. It's in the song. It drivres me crazy, but doesn't go for the whole song thank God. But otherwise I like most of the music and love some of it too. .

RE: Hi Kathy!

Debbie, your poor daughter. I can't believe what she is going through, and having to care for a child at the same time!! And as her Mom, we can all relate to how difficult this must be for you. Please let her know that we are all thinking of her on these forums. And you too!!

Nancy!

Thank you so much. That really, really means a lot to me and I will tell her. You're so sweet!
