Basic Step and Body Fusion

Cathlete
So I did my first Cathe work out ever this evening after being a devout "Firmie" for almost 2 years now!:)

I did the basic step portion of the Basic Step/Body Fusion DVD. I ended up doing it 2x in a row (but only did the warm up once). I don't have a step yet so I did it on the floor with a towel as my "step". It was alot of fun for me, and the choreography was great for me for right now as I am a beginner stepper as far as that goes. As far as intensity tho, I DEFINATELY need that step to up the work out to the intensity that I am used to! I did the work out 2x thru because I just didn't feel I had worked out enough after the first go around. I asked for a step for Christmas so hopefully I will receive it. If not, I will be getting a step as soon as I can afterwards.

I also have ordered the Cardio Hits DVD which I don't have yet...I can see by the video clips that the choreography is MUCH more advanced! I will probably be doing that work out on the floor a long time just so I don't take a fall!:+lol

Anyway, my first impression of Cathe is a good one. I like her teaching style and her personality. She's personable, friendly and motivating. I think I will thoroughly enjoy taking my work outs to the next level with her!

Good night all!

Good job Wendy! You will definately enjoy Cathe's workouts and don't worry! it wont take you long to get the coreography down! Hope you get a step for xmas!

2 thumbs up!

I managed to do Basic step last night using the purple part of the fanny lifter. I was very careful about my footing and obviously I couldn't "stretch out" like on a regular size step but I did it and what a difference in intensity it made! WOW! I have never done a non-stop step routine like that. The Firm only has the step patterns that last a few minutes at a shot...Now I am really looking forward to getting my step! I'm gonna have some real fun then! :7

Happy Holidays to all!

Hi Wendy,

So glad you enjoyed the workout...you'll love Cardio Hits too. Here's hoping Santa comes through with that step!;-)

Ruth:)

Hi Ruth,

I think cardio hits should be delivered today :) but I'm not ready for that yet:-( ...I still have not attempted the body fusion step work out. I have pretty well mastered Basic Step though. Once I get my step I will start the Body Fusion work out and hopefully within a couple of weeks after that I will have the nerve to try one of the cardio hits work outs!

Happy Holidays!:D

Don't you worry about it Wendy...you'll get there. I'm the biggest klutz in the world and it used to take me a long time to learn a step workout, but it was fun just trying! It's easier for me now, probably because I know her choreography but also my body has "step workout memory".
My recommendation...when you feel ready, just do it! (Preview first.) Use your rewind. Use your "slow". Whatever it takes. You might get frustrated occasionally, but mostly the learning is part of the fun. When you "get" something you've been working on, the feeling is just wonderful!:7

Enjoy,
Ruth:)
Merry Christmas!

Hey Ruth-
I was previewing the cardio hits workouts yesterday when I got home from work. Some of it definately looks tricky but for the most part, they don't look as confusing as I had imagined...ofcourse, my outlook may be VERY different when I'm actually trying to do it! LOL

I was sooo tempted to change my clothes and just "go for it" but it was my rest day so I didn't want to push it. Since a Cathe work out is new to me, it's been "tougher" on me then the work outs I am used to so I forced myself to rest as scheduled....even tho I won't have any time to do anything today...hmmm...I really could have snuck one more work out in there!;-)

Oh well, there's always tmrw....all we have on tap for Sunday is finding homes for our gifts and sleeping in...so I'll have ALL day to play!:D I am determined to become a good stepper!

My first Cathe step workout was Step Blast (talk about starting off with a killer). I had to break it down the first few weeks I did it. It was a higher intensity than I was used to, so I could only get about 15-20 minutes into at the most. And the footwork was so much more advanced that I had to do just the warm-up and first part of the first routine the first few times I did the workout, oftentimes rewinding and doing it over in one workout.

Well, now I can do the entire Step Blast workout all the way through, and while the footwork is still challenging, I don't have any problems with it (unless I stop concentrating, then I make a stupid flub-up such as missing a turn or doing a knee-up on the wrong side of the step).

I like the idea of constantly challenging myself with the footwork and then with the intensity once I am more secure with the foot patterns so that I don't get bored. I just worry that I will get frustrated and give up before I learn the hard ones.x(

I was thinking of doing all of the warm ups from cardio hits in one work out at first and once I was comfortable with those moves then maybe take out a warm up segment and add a more difficult segment and so on and so forth until I can do one whole routine.

I just received the All Step video with my step I got for Christmas. I checked that out and that's a toughy too!

I just did Basic Step this morning with the regular step for the first time. I started with no risers and halfway thru I added a riser. I made it thru ok so I think I can move on to Body Fusion now. As soon as I pick that up I'll probably move on to the Cardio Hits. I think I'm gonna save All Step for last....it looks the hardest to me.

In a about a half an hour I'm gonna give my Gazelle a try. DH put it together for me today. I was gonna use it right after I finished Basic Step but it just didn't work out that way so I get to sweat twice today! lol :)
