Barbell plate collars that come off easy...

Alright, every time I do the pyramids, I am behind because it takes me so long to change my weights. Is there some special kind of weight collar that Cathe is using that allows her to do it so fast? I have the kind that looks like of like a close pin but with a loop on one end. Also, if there is a web site to get these, that would help. My barbell brand is Cap.

I bought a set of the slip lock collars on Ebay & they won't fit my barbell! (I have the one Cathe uses.) I guess they only come in one size? They fit my dh's barbell just fine...I was highly annoyed!;-)

I think that Cathe is using the same collars as you (and I) are. She and the gang are just fast movers....like Speedy Gonzales!

I'm more like Speedy's s-l-o-o-o-w moving cousin and I take more time when changing my weights. If I get behind the group, I just back chapter on my DVD player and don't worry about it. I feel I get just as good a workout, and I don't feel rushed.

I also have the bollinger slip locks and LOvE them! Sometimes I can even change my wts faster than Cathe!

I thought they did come in different sizes. Hoever, could be wrong!

Definitely worth the $4.00 I spent on them! I also got mine on eBAY!

I got my Sliplock off ebay too... LOVE it. The guy is great. I think they only fit 1" (standard collars). Won't fit 2" (Olympic) or the threaded kind.

Is there some kind of clip that would work on the threaded kind? This is what I have and you talk about taking forever to change weights. (They weren't my choice - hubby bought them.)

I also have the one Cathe has and not as fast as she is, I just pause my dvd if I do get behind but am getting better at it.

Slip locks!

Slip Locks are great and make changing plates sooo much easier. Also, I have 1" and also the 2" for my olympic size bar, so they do come in at LEAST two different sizes. I have no trouble keeping up with Cathe and can actually be ready before her. I also have the spring clips but they hurt my hands to squeeze so tight to get off & on, plus they take longer. Good Luck!

I am not sure what Cathe is using. I have a threaded barbell with star collars that you screw on. It was taking me so long. I went and bought some of the kind of collars that you squeeze and that has sped things up alot. I still cannot do it as fast as Cathe & crew though. I don't think the speed makes a lot of difference. I keep the remote close to one end of the bar so when I put it down I can pause the DVD till I am ready.

Diane Sue,
I, too, have a threaded barbell and would like to know what kind of squeeze collars you bought. Can you please tell me the brand name and where you got them?? Thanks a lot!

Sarah :)

Hi Sarah,
I don't know what brand they were. I bought them at Acadamy Sports for $2.98. It was a good investment. They had two kinds there and they both looked the same to me. I would think you would be able to go to any store tht sold weights and equipment and ask.
