bands for pull downs

I bought the Spri brand and used the purple (heaviest resistance) tubing just today for W1D2. While I did feel the muscles working, I'm going to have to come up with something else for pullups/chinups as I felt I could do the pulls with the tubing all day -- well, at least for a long time.

I know that doesn't answer your question, really, but just wanted to point out that the tubing may not be a good alternative for everyone.

I agree with Nancy, I have a heavy tube, but bought Cathe's red one too just to make sure mine was as heavy as it should be, but I too feel like I could just keep going.

Someone suggested doubling up on the bands, I have not tried it yet, but sounds like a good idea.

Nancy, I felt the same way -- even with heavy tubing, I didn't feel it worked as hard as it should.

I assembled my Valor squat stands (sitting in a box for months) and put a 9-lb body-bar across the top. I use that for pull-ups and find it is enough of a challenge that I can get through 30 seconds but it is work!

I don't have the doorway for a real pull-up bar, and let DH (who is doing STS with me) use the one we have on our gigantic weight machine, so I had to improvise. It works well, and I'll need the squat stand for the heavy leg workouts anyway.

Hi all!

Here's what I found while looking for challenging resistance tubing:

http://www.fitmag.co.uk/

I bought the 3 heaviest tubes (orange, black and blue) and the orange one is very challenging. Also, you have the option of combining 2 or 3 tubes to get the resistance you need.
There's a chart giving you every combination possible and the resistance it creates.

Thanks Chris...those look like the Bodylastics, which I was consdering. I want to buy the bands pretty much just for the pulldowns so want to buy wisely...glad you found those ones challeneging enough.

At times I have use the fitmag resistance tubing and I love them. They have many different resistance levels and you can also double up on the tubing for additional resistance. Se the link below for the fitmag resistance level chart
