Autoimmunity: A major women's health issue

Sandra, you are already a winner and victor! :D I know you have had tough days, but you are still fighting and just as importantly...reaching out to others! How awesome of you...even in the midst of your pain and fatigue, you are still taking time to *pay it forward* and share the information and education you are gaining! You are amazing!
Hang in there! It will get better....because I know you will refuse to let this defeat or define you!
Talk with you soon! (i just sent you an e-mail, don't worry about replying...you've got a full plate...i'm praying for you!)

Thanks everyone. I am so thankful for the support of the wonderful people here on the forums, you are all amazing and gracious and caring people. Makes me smile. :) There are just wonderful people all around.

I made it through my spinal tap on Monday (to test for MS), it went well and was not as painful as I thought it would be. The worst part was the lidocaine injections, which stung like crazy. The actual needle going in was just uncomfortable pressure. I immediately felt woozy and thought I was going to throw up, but I luckily I didn't. The guys taking care of me were great. I spent an hour in recovery and then went home.

Tuesday I was in bed most of the day, not too much pain. Wednesday night I went back to work and my back was killing me. I took Tylenol but that is like water for me. I couldn't take Motrin due to my upcoming surgery and obviously couldn't take anything stronger because I was working. It was a rough night to say the least. I kept taping heating packs on my back every hour, which helped some. Thursday was much better. I am still waiting for the resuts.

Tuesday I'm having surgery to remove my toxic thyroid, which has been compressing on my airway for three months. I hope to feel much better in a few weeks!

Thanks for all the support and prayers. :)

Just an Update

I am three weeks post total thyroidectomy and now doing well. The first week was NOT pleasant but I am feeling much better and a lot of my symptoms have gone away. One complication is that my right vocal cord is not working and I have a very weak/hoarse voice but it's getting better. Energy wise I'm not 100% but getting there and I've been exercising again for a week and doing my Cathe in moderation and so grateful I can!! Yeah. :D

My spinal tap came back negative for MS! I am so relieved about this and am keeping a positive attitude about everything. I feel like I am on the road to recovery. Thanks again for all the hugs and support. :)

I've said in another thread that I have one as well. As someone who lives with Ulcerative Colitis, I can sympathize with anyone who has an autoimmune disorder. Bringing this up made my day. I sincerely thank you for spreading the information on something that is not talked about enough. I myself wanted to become a CCFA spokesperson. You already know that you're in good company among women. Know now that you're in good company on this forum. Let me know if you need any form of support.
