August 09 Check In ***Weekend 22nd-23rd**

Cathlete
Good morning ladies..

Today I start the last week of the August rotation...I am doing STS Meso 3 first week chest, shoulders and biceps...

I am going to get it down now as I have some errands to do today...

Be back later..

Hey Kathy!!
Good Morning to you and to all that follow....

I can't believe you're (we're) starting week #4 of this rotation. Holy COW , where did the time go? Will you be using your 1RM's to do Meso 3 this week, Kathy? I guess that's how you have to go, huh? No other way to do it. (Unless you just guess). Let us know how it goes!.... So I couldn't convince you to come wash my kitchen floor , guess I have a little bit of housework to do today then. bummer! ;).... Hey , what are your plans for workouts for the few weeks in between now and Sept 14th, when we start STS?

Today on the rotation is RS & Abs. I did abs yesterday and I think I could benefit from a good stretch. So I'm going to do IM3, the first 5 or so intervals, and then some stretch, probably TBS.

A few GOOD things for me today. Zach's blood sugars FINALLY straightened out, and Greg came home this morning , and said he doesn't have to work Sunday night this weekend. It was going to really suck on Monday, because of his new work hours, with him coming home at 6am and having to stay up until 12n and then sleep only about 6 hours, and have to go back to work. So for us!!!

Off to feed the kitties and get on with my workout....

I changed my mind when I got ready to work out. I ended up doing HardCore Extreme High/Low Intervals. I did the first 5 intervals. It alternated Lowmax and IM3, so it was pretty cool, and fun, and KILLED my lower body. And also skipped my least favorite IM3 interval (the 1st one)!! :)

I did TBS #2 with the ball. It felt good. I thought about doing more, but I have "stuff to do" so I just added a few leg stretches on my own....

Great workout Chris!! I never did my 1rm figures. Last time I did STS I just knew how much I usually used and went a little lower for Meso 1, used normal for Meso 2 and for Meso 3 I used a challenging weight heavier then I normally go. I seemed to work for me..So, that is what I did today. I went just a little more then I would normally when I could...Sorry no floor mopping today. Right now I am doing some more laundry and when Vic and Lauren get back from taking Buddy for a checkup at the vet, I am going to hit Walmart for a few things...As far as workouts after this rotation, I will probably wing it a little and do cardio and cardio/weight days alternately...Maybe throw in Body Max 1 or 2 as well. They are tough ones that should make me feel good. I don't know what kind of workouts I will have at the hotel when we go. They usually aren't as intense as when I am home..What did you have in mind?

Ok, done with the workout...I was confused though. The rotation I printed out said the first disc of meso 3 chest, shoulders and biceps. But, the disc has triceps on it instead of chest. So, I did the triceps, biceps and shoulders workout...I also added segment 1 of coremax and segment 1 of stretchmax that I didn't do yesterday. I needed them both..

Talk to you later..

Good morning! Strange morning..... we were lying in bed and Larry said "did that fan just go off?" and I said "the power must be out". Sure enough! And, they claim it won't be back on til about noon, so we took some dark showers and all four of us are at the office -- I had planned to come in today anyway -- so far behind! Anyway, today is rest day for me -- I was going to stretch and how pathetic is it that I couldn't get interested in stretching without a dvd?! Sheesh! I'm so lame....

Chris, great workout!!! Kathy, too bad about not cleaning our houses. :) I did notice that sort of typo with the rotation -- I'll just do whatever disc that is, too.

I'm not sure what I'll do leading up to STS -- I really would love to go back to total body workouts -- I guess I really do like those better -- but, I missed the 4DS week, so I could do that one week...... oh, I guess it was S&H for you guys, but I was going to sub in 4DS.

Ok, I've got to get some work done! Let's work! ;)

Beth: A 4 day split week is a great idea. I think I will do that! Hope you are home soon with power. Our skies are looking DARK..I think a storm is a brewing...

OH THAT's right, Kathy.. I do remember you not doing the 1RM's now that you say it. it's cool you didn't have to. Did you print out sheets or just pick what you felt at the time? I guess I'll just do the Meso 3 , Week 1, Day 1 workout on Monday too. Weird it said something different.

Oh a 4DS would be cool for the interim weeks! I love 4DS and haven't done them in forever. I know there's a rotation out too, I think just follows the 4DS in order.

Beth: I understand about not stretching without a DVD. I'm not that "creative" or motivated either most of the time!! LOL!.

Off for my nap in a few. Sadly enough, I've been "Saturday eating" today. Doh!

Hey! Now I'm home from work -- have power back, obviously. Don't know what the deal was, but probably a tree down somewhere -- that's usually it. I did not get as caught up as I'd hoped. Larry started feeling really stressed and just wanted to leave. We have too much awful stuff going on these days! He's feeling tightness in his chest. Yuck.

4DS -- ok, next week let's do that -- in order, as is. I'm game for that! Also really looking forward to this coming week -- I like the way Cathe mixed things up.

Oh Chris, I forget if I ever answered your question about re-printing the workout cards -- I don't think I will. I'll want to refer to the weights anyway, so not much point. They may be a mess by the time I've done this round. :)

I think we will be doing something mindless here this afternoon.......

Chris: No, I didn't print out any of the workout cards. I just guessed. Sometimes I picked up heavier and sometimes went lighter..So, basically picked up what I wanted to. Hope you get a great nap in and have a good night at work..

Beth: I agree. This week looks like a good one...I am in for the 4 day split week!! Which workout starts us out? I will probably start it next Saturday...

Raining here...just reading and fooling around on the computer...

Off to work in a bit :p

Next week does look cool, with a taste of STS in it! And yes, 4DS it shall be after that! :) It is fun to do similiar workouts, I like it!

But now off to worky-poo, that I'm always a little bit afraid of....

Good night, Friends!

Chris, two things I don't want to forget (if I wait until tomorrow I will). I know you're at work -- hope it's going well!!!

First, that Hunt Sisters book sounds good! Second, has Greg started P90X yet, and if so, what does he think of it?

grrrgrrrgrrr..computer hates me. futzed forever finally got in IM2+super crunch slim down. Looking forward to a good day tomorrow too...with less internet issues...hope you survived Chris!

Good morning! How is everyone? Kathy must be at church, Chris still getting going after working all night. How was work? Hey, when you have older patients who are cranky, do you not like them? I guess it all depends on the personality. Larry's mom can be difficult (but she can also be a hoot -- she's intelligent and has a good sense of humor) and he always assumes people don't treat her very well because they probably don't like her because she's a pain, but I'm not so quick to come to that conclusion. I know, too hard to say. The lesson for all of us here, though, is to work on being a nice person now, because I think those kinds of habits get so ingrained, and I think it is really tough to be an older person relying on people who might not want to be around you, ya' know?

Wow, that was a long tangent.....

I started the last week of the rotation today, so Meso 3, disc 1 -- chest and back. Strange to be lifting so heavy again!!! The workout seemed to somewhat drag for me this morning -- I think part of it is that I'm not used to doing splits again yet and also not used to the rests. I actually thought about doing some ab work during the rests, but.... I didn't! :)

Today is the only day this week I might get a run in, and so afterward I went outside and started doing cc volume 1 (the shortest one) -- but after about 5 minutes I thought "this is insane! I have worked hard enough!" so I came in and did Cathe's extended stretch. Larry woke up in this time and came in and hassled me and made funny comments while I was doing the stretch. He got a sort of touchy feely tone in his voice pretending he was Cathe and saying "drink the cool-aid..... drink the cool-aid" Maybe you had to be here -- it was funny!

Joanne, yoo-hoo! I'm worried about you, woman! Hope everything is ok. Vilma, do you lurk here anymore?

Hottie, I saw your LA comments -- I think that woman would be crazy to move to LA if she's wanting good schools and affordable housing, but I didn't really want to say that in such a public place. I'm sure she is somewhat excited about the prospect of moving to California -- well, at least somehow I inferred that from her post.

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Hi Beth - yes I lurk here LMAO

Not much to say as I am just playing catch up on the house and also getting the kiddos ready for school which start this Tuesday.

Today is the 4th yr anniversary of my father's death and I'm a bit wishy washy that plus my Chloe's boyfriend Sam is flying back to Bagdad after being home mid tour for 2 1/2 weeks so I'm worried with that also. He is nervous and scared he has this feeling that he won't come back alive and was doing his bucket list w/ my daughter these past few days. It's been quite sobering. I just pray he gets back home alive, mentally & physically well. :(

My workouts have been sporadic at best and I do plan on getting the Physique 57 workouts soon. I figure once everything settles down here and we are back on a regular routine and can get back to being consistant w/ my workouts 6 days a week. At the moment I'm averaging just 3 or four

Well classes have been good so far and I need to go back out and get myself some nice tops to go w/ my slacks I'm trying to limit myself from wearing jeans to once a week :p

Take care all and big hugs

Vilma, that is tough stuff -- at any age -- but especially for two people so young. I sure hope his feelings prove wrong. And, I'm right there with you and your dad. It's been about 15 years for me, and still I miss him so -- it's still nearly a daily thing for me -- I guess especially lately with the stress my family is going through.

But, it must be very fun and exciting for you to be going back to school! That is very cool.

Ok, Larry and I have a lot to accomplish today -- better sign off.

HI ladies..

Checking in today with STS plyo legs. I did week 1 plyo legs..Great sweaty workout!!

Beth: Yes, we went to mass this morning instead of last night. So, I was busy getting breakfast and ready for church this morning...Now, I finally got done with my workout and lunch and cleaning the kitchen...I still need to iron some clothes...Later!! I know I have been doing the other weight DVDs for a few months and the breaks are nice. I gotta say I really like the STS program. I like doing the rounds. Gives one muscle a break while you do another muscle..

Vilma: Big hugs to you for your sad day and your daughter too!! Way to go with the classes..Hope you have some luck finding clothes!

Quickie check in for me today...

First work. it was pretty good, actually. BUT..I am at the TOM where I am WICKED fatigued and I ended up with a one-sided stabbing headache. It's weird that it's not my usual kind of headache, since it has been responding to tylenol. That is a good thing! Hopefully, work will be ok tonight, though we have less nurses, and it's going to be busier...

Beth: So far I'm liking the Hunt Sisters book! I'll let you know the more I get into it. ... And no, Greg hasn't started P90X ..yet. Maybe tomorrow. We were struggling with what we were going to do with it, since we bought it from eBay, and it has some marks on the DVD's, though they do appear to be new. Maybe just from storage/shipping. We have to make sure they play alrite though. The seller is being okay with it, said he's willing to "make it right"

Sorry so abreviated, *BIG WAVES* to VILMA!! HOTTIE!! KATHY!! JOANNE!! (miss ya, you!)...

Subway is here, gotta go!...

Oh and Beth.... It all depends on what kind of cranky elderly women are. If they're just cranky and not annoyingly demanding , I kind of like them! I esp. like ornery little cranky old men. I don't know why. I can usually get a smile out of them. I deal with all my patients , even the annoyingly demanding ones, with a smile and respect. (But I talk shit about them behind their backs! LOL!)

Hi ladies. Awww, you are all so sweet! :) I'm fine, my funk is disapaiting (oh my, I can't spell!). Not sure when I checked in last, but I've gotten a few workouts in. I did KCM's New You Coming I think Friday. Really good workout. Saturday was Kickmax. DH was sleeping in the basement this morning, so no workout. I've been fighting off this cough but think it's on its way out. OK - I made a decision. ;) I'm starting Insanity - I think tomorrow. I think I need to do a fit test first, so I might not start till Tuesday. I'll probably stretch it out a bit, though and add in P57 a couple times a week. I don't think this old body can handle the rotation as is! But, we'll see. I would like to be on the same rotation with all of you, but I'm just not feeling STS right now. It's mostly because I need to concentrate on losing this fat and I think Insanity will be better for that.

Beth, too funny about "older" people. I know, sometimes I worry about how I'll be. I hope my kids will still like me! And what kind of DILs and SIL we'll have. Our power went out a few nights ago for about five minutes. Right after DH left for work. The boys thought it was the coolest thing and Caitlyn started freaking out. Of course, I had no idea where any flashlights were. But, they came right back on.

Chris, hope you have a good night at work. I had horrible headaches the past couple days. Don't know if it was because of my eye or TOM. I got some extra rest (or at least tried to!) and that helped a bit.

Vilma, I pray your daughter's boyfriend is safe. How scary. It really puts everything in perspective to hear stuff like that. How hard on them.

Oh, my big news - I got an iPod Touch!! Today is my birthday. I think my DH has been worried about me - he knows I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. He knows I've wanted an iPod forever, but always said I didn't need one, you have an MP3, etc. Yesterday he asked me to go get his wallet out of his truck. I opened up the glove box and there was the iPod. I started crying!! It was so sweet of him. So, I've spent most of the weekend loading it up. I've got to get my itreads and cardio coaches on there. It's so cool!! I have to learn how to use some of the cool stuff and find some apps for it.

Have to go....just wanted to check in and say "hi"!

Joanne

Joanne! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! If I were Chris there would be some cute singing, dancing birthday cake here, but I am Lame. What a cool way to get a great birthday present! Very nice of hubby!!! I would have cried, too! I do hope you're having a really fun day and weekend. Start loading up those podcasts, too! You guys know I listen to podcasts to help me fall asleep, right? Well, the other day I was driving and had the radio on NPR, and one of my podcasts came on and I had to change the station right away for fear of the guy's voice putting me to sleep while driving!!

Re: cranky old people. Chris, I love that you like some of the cranky old people. Funny what you said reminded me of what we just recently heard from MIL's new helper. She said she asked Hilda how she'd like to be treated, and Hilda said something and included "respect" in there, and the helper said that she replied with "well, that's exactly how I'd like to be treated." and that apparently shut up Hilda for a few minutes. :) My own mother absolutely adoredher MIL and they loved spending time at my dad's parents' house. My mom said she thinks it was because her MIL was always nice to her, never criticized or acted like my mom wasn't good enough for her son, etc., so my mother is already coaching me on how I should be with my son's partners if I want them to keep visiting us!! Cracks me up. Ok, something strange happened while typing this paragraph, so I have no idea how odd it may end up looking.....

I hope the P90X dvds are ok. Tell Greg to get off his butt! JK!!

We got some work done on this end -- Larry's now running errands and we will hit it again when he's home. It's work - work, so the kids are being ignored. I'm about to go do something with them when their Batman episode is done. I feel horrible about how much screen time they end up with when we have to work! But, I did get their hair trimmed while they watched!! Whoo-hooo! Travis has not let me cut his hair for quite a while because he wants his hair to look like "Edward's" (Twilight). I keep telling him it's not the cut so much as the gel. Well, the other day after he took a shower I noticed an old bottle of my hair gel on the counter!

Chris, I hope you get through the night headache- and cranky-patient-free!
