Hi Guys,
JUst want to run this by anyone who as most of her videos. Here's the dalima:
I don't need any more weight tapes but I would really like to have some just cardio workouts. Most of Cathe's new workouts have weights included. They should be here sometime this week:7.I saved a bit of money by changing my mind and going with the VHS so now I feel as if I have the perfect excuse to buy some more workouts.
Should I buy interval express and action packed? Are they worth the investment? The music in Interval express sounds pretty good. I don't have all of Cathe's older videos and I REALLY don't like buying older videos.
I just figured that someone could help me out with this one.I have alot of aerobics vidoes but I am getting tired of doing the same ones;
Thanks everyone,
Lori

Hi Lori!
I don't have Mindi's tapes (but I used to have IExpress). But please remind me/us what Cathe tapes you already have. I have all Cathe's videos that are on DVD and the music is pretty great even on old ones. The workout attire is.. well... let's just say the participants and Cathe shine through them beautifully.

So tell us what you don't yet have, or what you do have.

And in case you don't have it, Christi Taylor's Hi Lo Heaven is very good and versatile...

I guess it is kinda like (For FIRM fans) who started with the new Goodtimes FIRM, and going back and trying the older classics made in the 80's. It does take some getting used to the older videos of course-the style of the tape, the music the hair etc, but if you can get past that, you have a whole new world of things to try! (I started with the FIRM real early on though)

I kinda agree. I started with Cathe in mid 2001, with MIC, then Cardio Kicks, and since then, have aquired many of her newer-ish videos (Imax, CMax, BMax, etc) and am just now getting her older ones on DVD as well-the "look" is different, and it is hard to adjust..I guess it just takes time!

I just borrowed Interval Express from a very nice fitness friend of mine to try, and it is pretty good I have to say! She uses dynamix, what Cathe used in some of her videos, and the workout itself looks very good (I haven't had a chance to do it yet, I have been doing all of my new/old cathe's lately!) I may buy it, and she has a new set coming out as well for only $15 a workout presale!

The only thing is-I found her to be a little...chatty. When I was watching it, she talked almost every second of the tape!
She puts in little funny comments, I wonder if her chattiness doesn't seem so bad during the tape? Anyway, it looked like a fairly hard workout!

Interval Express is a tough workout. I'm not a huge Mindy fan because of her chattiness. Traded Strength Express away because of that. I really do like Interval Express. The intervals are tough. It's not quite as tough as Cathe's but still a good one. Another of Mindy's interval tapes I like is Extreme Intervals and Pump Party. Her chattiness doesn't seem to take over in this one either. You might want to check out the video reviews at videofitness.com. I'm pretty sure these 2 have been reviewed and get more perspectives.

Hi Connie,
The only ones I don't have are:Step Jam,Step max,Step heat, mega step blast and step in motion 1.Like I said I have most of them and I don't like buying old videos.I just want some new and tough cardio workouts.Chances are if I buy the Cathe ones that I don't have I probably won't use them b/c I hardly ever do the older ones that I already got. They are nice to dig out ever couple of monthes but I would never do them every week.
I don't think I have ever tried Christi. Is she any good or is it just a low key workout?.
Thanks
Lori

I thought about ordering her new ones to but I am in Canada.I order all of my videos from cksales and they didn't send out a e-mail saying that they were taking pre-orders for her videos.
I agree with alot of you.She is a little to chatty but I guess with intervals you don't have to worry about her talking to much.I already have pump party,I just hate buying videos and doing them and never sweating. That is one of my biggest pet peeves.:7 My sister did pump party when she was home on vacation and she loved her.She thought she was a riot.
I think you guys helped me make up my mind.I am going to order them.See what would I do without this forum.I love the crowd around here.:*

Hi Lori,

I don't know if the presale is still on but the new Mindy DVD's were only $15 US each, even for a Canadian (like me!) that was a great deal, and I preordered. Also, on Mindy's site, many of her tapes are only $10 or $12 US, still cheap even with the exchnage and shipping. I really like extreme intervals; it is good value cause there's a body bar/endurance style weight workout at the end. It is also simple choreo. Interval express is a great workout but I warn you: if you're used to Cathe's cueing, you might find IE frustrating (I do!!). Mindy doesn't build seuqences like Cathe does, nor does she cue..much at all. I have action packed, and although it looks like fun, I haven't tried it yet. I love Mindy, I love her chattiness, I love her workouts, I love her personality....but there is a big frustration factor in some of her step tapes for me.

I don't have alot of Christi but I do have totally cool step, and it seems fun enough. Much more dancy than Cathe but still quite intense. And, she cues very very well.

Christine

P.S. are you in Toronto? I don't remember....you could always borrow my "Action Packed" if you are, and let me know how it is!!!

She is good and it is not low-key. Slightly lower than Cathe maybe; it is a hi-lo workout that is more steady-state cardio (no discernable interval blasts) with intensity you can control by how high you jump.

The music is awesome and Christi's personality is great! Her cuing is impeccable and the participants are all guys in this workout. They bring a smile to my face.

It has three segments. The third one is a circuit workout that I have never tried. But the first two total up to about an hour(I think).

Christine,
I'm in Newfoundland. You could always drive to North Sydney and put it on the Caribou and I will go to Port a Basque and pick it up! ;-)
I already placed my order for action packed and interval express.I had a Kari Anderson video ordered to but then I e-mailed them a cancelled it.I don't think it is what I am looking for.
Thanks for the offer though.Very kind of you.:D
Lori

Lori,

I really like Christi's tapes as well as Cathe's. She has some great step tapes. I have been doing Cathe's tapes for 7 years. Christi has a great Step Heaven - it has three segments - first segment is 30 minutes including the warm up and the step is horizontal, the second step segment is 25 minutes and the step is vertical and the third segment is some intervals with light weghts. I favor that tape alot.

Christi has Still Stepping tape that is really good too. It is an hour long. She has quite a few high low tapes. I would really recommend her. Cheryl

Hi Lori, just did a Mindy yesterday. I love her too...she and Cathe are the only ones in my video collection. I weeded out the others. I love the Interval Express tape. :) I also think that CIA 2KO2 is great (Slammin Sports Cardio) as well as Extreme Intervals (Pump Party) I also preordered the new cardio tape she has out. I am not as fond of Action Packed...I don't mind the step part but the floor part isn't my favorite. My daughter loves it though, so we are all different!
Have fun with her tapes! ;)
Karen

hi LOri
I would say get the Cathe vids you don't have. I have all of Cathe 's tapes and all off them are no. #1 I go back and do old tapes all the time. They are classic they are fun and when you want to work out hard, and had a real bad day ,they bring you back on top again . You can have an awesome workout and because you know Cathe you know it will always be tough !ps the only Cathe tape I don't own is Step in motion.

hi there I agree with you . I have Interval express and sports cardio (slammin) by Mindy. Pay close attention to cuing and be very carefull with some of the double time moves over your step . I found you could experience some foot and ankle pain even with the best of shoes.

hi Lori its Bri again ,
I buy the other tapes for variety, I have tapes by every Instructor I respect , thats a good thing its good to have that alternative when you need it. With all that said a Cathe vid is usually is what makes it in to the machine 99 per cent of the time. Yesterday I did pyramid lower body by Cathe ,I was so wiped instead of doing half of Imax 2 like sugested in one rotation I did Kathy Smith's "Great buns and thighs step workout" and then I called it a verry great day. Variety , moderation, and knowing when to give it your all is the spice of life keep cooking girlfriend.

Hi Lori
check with ck sales because I did receive an e mail about a new cia/mindy tape which I pre ordered (2 I think).I am not sure if this is the same tape you are refering to.Mindy usually is associated with cia.I just got Action Packed and I love it.Have you tried Mindy's boot camp.Sargeant M rocks............
