Athletic step versus step moves

Hi Everyone,

I really would like to know what is difference between Athletic step and step moves. Precisely I would like to know what make one more enjoyable than the other.

I do not like "dancey" step moves:(. I prefer athletic moves and Plyometrics ones.

I would really appreciate if you could give me your thoughts on both or any of them so I can make my decision.

Kind Regards;) ,

Nathalie

Nathalie,

If you prefer athletic-type step, DO NOT get Step Moves. Very complex choreo (but very fun once you get into the groove ;)). Athletic Step, although more athletic in nature, still has a learning curve IMO. There are some moves that require a little bit of "thinking", unlike the basic power 7's or 15's where you can just go at it. With that said, I place Athletic Step in my top 5 fav step workouts that I own! Not intense like the Imax's, but you will still get a nice little sweat going on by the end and your HR is elevated nicely. Fun factor is high, music is great. I love it :). A must in your collection if you want a more athletic-style step workout with a small dose of complexity to work your mind. Variety is the spice of life ;).

Athletic Step is for you, then...
I prefer athletic, linear moves, too. Step Moves is beyond my cranial abilities.

Thanks to both Bonnie and Natasha ;),

To Natasha, I love and enjoy the learning curve using my brain to really get the move. I love dancing, do not get me wrong. I want to keep both separate in my brain when I am doing each activity. Working out is a no-nonsense time for me:D:D:D.
Dancing is more a relaxing time. That is why I never felt connected to Zumba. No disrespect to anyone into it but I just do not feel it. I love dancing cuban salsa and various afro moves but I just can not get both my heart and brain into having a no-nonsense time based on a dancing concept. Hope I have explained this clearly.

Kind Regards,

Nathalie

Athletic Step is one of my favorite of the Cathe step workouts! It does tax the brain a bit, but in a really good way. It's fun and tough. I've only tried Step Moves once, and it'll take me a while to "get" it, so I can't really comment there. I think I'll like it once I learn it, but I prefer the style of Athletic Step.

Other than that, they both consist of 3 step combos, a finished product and stretch.

I love Athletic Step. Its a lot of fun. It is not too dancey. Step Moves is very complex in terms of choreography ( it took me a long time to learn it all.) That said, AS is more involved than any of the Imaxes or Cross Fire or HIIT. Its very intense, especially when you add risers. I think you should get AS.

Nathalie,
I also have both and agree that, based on your description of your preferences, Athletic Step would be a better investment for you. I would also add that I find Athletic Step to be a more intense workout. Step Moves does not really get my heart rate up. It's definitely one I reach for on a light day when I don't want to workout out at all, but know I should. I would rate that a low-intermediate workout in relation to its cardio level, whereas Athletic Step is more high-intermediate. It's a relatively short workout, at under an hour as well. It gives a shorter, but still intense step workout that is fun. I definitely enjoy it.

The only Cathe step cardios I have are Low Impact Challenge, hiit and Intensity. How does LIC compare with step moves? It seemed fairly complex to me.
