Are you related to anyone famous?

No famous relatives, but my best friend dated Bruce Willis when we were in high school. He wasn't even near famous then, though.

I used to work with a guy years ago who was Tom Cruise's BIL (the guy was married to Tom's sister).

Well... My grandma has our entire geneology all mapped out - pretty cool to check it out - but to start with we are direct descendants of the Mayflower and belong to the Mayflower Society - and in a funny twist - from the same person that the infamous Mayflower Madam Sydney Biddle Barrows is a decendant of too..

Our family names are Hyde and Howe - so they are all over history - and in 2 School House Rock episodes... :D The first is Elias Howe - my grandma's great grandpa that invented the sewing machine (who later sold the patent to the Singers). The second is Julia Howe - who is one of the main women involved in the 19th Amendmant - Womens Right to vote - (in the suffering for sufferage episode of School House Rock). Julia Howe also wrote the Battle Hymn of Republic.

No movie stars or anything - but American History... :)

I recently found out that my Uncle's nephew by marriage is the director of Wedding Crashers. My Aunt and Uncle were invited to the premiere of the movie. My Uncle was so funny because he thought he was such a hotshot. He has a photo of his head behind Owen Wilson's elbow or something, which he sent to everyone he knew, and even a lot of people he didn't know. :+

I'm not related to anyone famous (that I know about), but I did WORK for Peter Cushing. If you don't know who he is, shame on you;)

I think there are other "famous people" stories in my head, but I can't for the life of me think of them right now.

I'm not related to anyone famous that I know of, but my husband's secretary is related to Jeff Foxworthy--they are first cousins.

Noone famous in my family that I know of. But my moms dad was hired as the carpenter for Marilyn Monroe's first house.:)

Hey,wait, 2 of my uncles were on the news in California in the past for high speed chases. Does that count? Just kidding. That did happen , but they were just stupid. They stole a Harley Hog and during the chase it flipped over w/ the truck they were in.

Daniel Boone is my 7th great grand uncle. I descend through his brother Squire Boone. How is that for removed? :)

Valerie

Well, one of my husband's brother in law is well-known in Puerto Rico for being...well, I don't know his exact position, but he is related to the Banco Popular.

I have a cousin, Everet Aponte, who is a movie director but he is just starting. If he become famous, remember, he is my cousin. LOL!

Oh yeah! I almost forgot. My friend and running partner was a bride's maid in Valerie Bertinelli and Eddy Van Halen's wedding! Of course we're not related but it's the closest brush with fame I can offer!

Hummmm, my maiden name is Jennings should I claim Waylan or Peter?!?!

As far as I know I am not related to either but it was always a fun ice breaker.:+

Charlotte, why am I SO NOT surprised! LOL

I will tell you a secret; in high school, I had a serious crush on Napoleon Bonaparte. Hehe.

Cheers,
Marie

Not related to anyone famous that I know of, but I had a distant relative who was named George Washington. :D Also, my Mom's friend's daughter dated Ritchie Sambora of Bon Jovi.

On my mom's side there is supposed to be a connection to the Wright Brothers, and with my husbands family the story is they are directly decended from Jedediah Smith. Though he had no children, it was a brother of his that the connection comes through.

The fun one is from highschool. One of my close friends was Kathy Sabine who is the weather girl in Denver. She is on the Today Show sometimes too, but her main job is in Colorado. I am told she is quite well known, but I only get a chance to see her when she works the holidays (for Al Roker) in New York. Very nice, lot's of fun memories...and her younger sister was actually my dear dear friend. Love them both still!

I had to piggy back this one. I've always had a special place in my heart for Harrison Ford. When I was in 8th grade (way back when he was in Star Wars) I wrote a letter to him. It read and I quote, "Dear Mr. Ford, You are such a hunk!" I'm sure there were little hearts scribbled in as well. hehehe Still makes me chuckle. Hey, but I did get an autographed pic from him!

According to my mother (who is a kind of mythomaniac, so who knows if it's true), an uncle of mine (her brother) invented the yellow "smile face" button. He didn't get anything from it, though, or not much, because he worked for some mining equipment company or something (I don't remember that part of it), and was an inventor, and anything he invented at that time was considered the property of the company.

If it's true, he's not really famous, but the inventor of something famous (so has a kind of "hidden fame").

I love Lionel Richie!!!!! I had the biggest crush on him as a kid. I used to sing his songs from my front porch - I was so good I should have charged the neighbors to listen!;)

Clara Barton, founder of the Red Cross, is an ancestor of mine. I've actually met a number of famous folk cause I worked for Entertainment Tonight back in the day. The coolest person I ever met was Sir Laurence Olivier. I sat next to him at the theatre though, he was not on ET. :)

My DH is a direct decendent of Daniel Boone too but I don't know exactly how. So I guess we're related by marriage, right? :)

Sparrow, that is really neat! I am not related to anybody famous, nor do I know anybody famous. John Travolta used to live in my town, and you run into the occasional race car driver at the dentist office or grocery store, but that is about it.
