I am all about the "fluffy mind candy" and make no apologies for it.}(

It was a well written, fun escape, just like "Friends".:D Oh I am sooo excited! I did love Aidan though, wasn't he sexy??:p

Me too! Without my mind candy (or my "stories" as DH likes to say) I'd be mental. Nothing wrong with escape, and actually there aren't many happy and escapist shows or movies these days, so SATC is doing us all a service IMO.

>Oh I am sooo excited! I did love Aidan though, wasn't he sexy??:p

I'm super excited too. And yes, Aidan was the dreamiest of all of Carrie's beaus, and the sweetest. But I like Big too...occasionally!

Ah yes, Mr. Big. Hot, hot and then hot some more!:9 So is Smith...oh boy, I can't wait.
Plus, I like that all the gals are my age and older, I think its pretty cool. And hey, every gal has a little Samantha in her--after a few cocktails!;)

You know, I do think it's very well written, but this show is about as formulaic as Three's Company. I mean, the formula works brilliantly and I like that you can count on it, but I sometimes wonder if the plots could have been produced by a computer program. Sort of like those "What your man really wants in bed" articles in Cosmo. I mean, can a real human being actually be writing those? There's like a gazillion of them ya know?! :p

Well, I took the quiz on Facebook and it told me I'm a Miranda. So that was easy.

I never had any great love for that show. I have only seen it in reruns, and I've probably seen fewer than half the episodes. But I always liked Miranda.

I've never seen the show, but I must say I'm intrigued by all the hype! I expect I will end up seeing the movie - they tell me I will end up hitting the stores and buying clothes. :)

>Add me to the never-seen-an-episode list either. :p

Same here never was really interested in that series

I LOVE LOVE LOVE SATC..... Maybe it was that I was newly divorced - in my early 30's when it started on HBO - so I was really drawn in. I think there is a lot of misconception about SATC - that the people that havent watched it think it is just about sex, clothes and drinking - but it was MUCH more than that. It is about 4 best friends and how they support each other through the good and the bad. And there was a lot of bad - it is not some formulaic friends type show. Throughout the series I laughed a lot and cried, and was very touched.

That being said - 8 other gals and 1 are having a SATC Saturday - we have tickets to the 1pm matinee and then heading over to a gals house to have drinks and play games. I cant wait!!! We have been planning this since we found out the date...

As for my favorite - it is hard - I love them all for very different reasons. Charlotte's optimisim and beleif in love - Samantha's go for it attitude - Miranda's strength - Carrie's shoes and hope. :)

Cant wait!!!

I wouldn't say that I'm like any of these women (although like Carrie, I do love myself some puns!:p ) Count me in as another one who is DYING to see the movie. As I mentioned in another thread, I'm currently running through all of the episodes before the movie hits here. I just finished the episode where Carrie walks in on Samantha and her 'World Wide Delivery' guy. :)

Carolyn -

Thanks for a good chuckle - that one is SO funny... hehe... I keep thinking of all kinds of moments and just love it.

I have a group of gf's that will have SATC days and get together and watch a season.... SO much fun!

I didn't watch SATC when it was on (no HBO then), but I've watched most of it now that we have HBO on Demand. I'm not obssessed with it, but I definitely appreciate the humor and the show's theme of the importantance of our gal pals and how they can become like family.

Don't know which character I am, but the one I love to watch the most is Samantha. The episode where she rates the vibrators (oh, excuse me "neck massagers") at Sharper Image is priceless.

But the episodes that really stand out to me, surprised me at their seriousness. Samantha's breast cancer and how the people around her reacted to it. I lost one of my best friends to the disease a couple of years ago, and those episodes made me revisit a lot of emotions that I had at the time.

Another one was when Miranda and her husband walk into her mother-in-law's apartment after finding out she had had a mini-stroke...that one hit me hard. My mom's place looked just like it before she was put in a nursing home after suffering from several mini-strokes. I think I actually gasped when they opened the door to the mess.

Anyhoo, mostly it was a fun show; I'm not sure whether the movie will be good, and I don't really care. I'm taking my best gal pal to see it (we're playing hooky from work...such bad girls!) and then we're spending some much-needed catch-up time with each other.

Well I enjoyed SATC and make no apologies for it! I actually saw most of the episodes as reruns. I intend to go see the movie, and that's saying a lot as I've not been in a movie theater in years.

Hey, wonder why so many people feel the need to come on this thread and proclaim they've never seen SATC? ;)

Its tough crowd.;-) :7 Thats cool though, I knew I would find a few fellow SATC fiends! :7

I wouldn't have you any other way Miss Shelley!:+

I'm in a category all my own. Can't say I've never seen it ' cause I got the first disc of season one from netflix. Didn't care for it enough to watch any more even when I had HBO. I thought is was well made and well written I just don't care for shows the are basically about dating. Other shows I've only seen one episode of include Desperate Housewives, Lost, Boston Legal, The West Wing and Friends. I'm currently looking for something to fill the void left by the ending of The Wire. I know the creators, David Simon and Ed Burns have a new mini-series coming out in July. I might even get HBO again when it comes out. As far as movies go I'm looking forward to The Dark Knight, I love Christian Bale.
