Does anyone with this or now about it know if pilates would be ok to do. I need something for awhile until the pain lessens but I don't want to quit working out and I don't have a stationary bike.
I used a stationary bike when mine was at it's worst. I would assume anything where you are not on your feet would be ok. I seems like I remember being able to keep up with my upper body training, but you can only do that so many days of the week! Good luck, it does get better.
The main thing you need to remember is to NOT go barefoot. I didn't stop doing any of my impact workouts when I had PF. I also continued to run. If you're wearing the right shoes, you should be fine.
I had PF for about a year, but it's been gone for about a year. Like someone above said, it will get better!
I've been wearing New Balance and haven't had a problem in several years. I think you just have to find what works for you. I really think Nikes and Rykas were the start of my problems, and it's probably just a combination of shoe design and foot structure. I also never go barefoot. I wear Birkenstocks quite a bit of the time because they distribute the weight across my entire foot. I just found Keen and although they are not that stylish, they feel great on my feet. Stretching and ice also help.
My husband has the same problem. He practices certain foot stretching exercises we found in an article highlighting the condition (it was a few years back) in the Dallas Morning News. He also wears Z-Coil sneakers:
The sneakers are odd looking and run a little bit of money.
All in all, his condition has improved quite a bit, but it's never totally gone. He is not sure if the exercises or the sneakers were what helped the condition because he started wearing the sneakers at the same time her began the early morning foot stretch routine.
