Thank you Annette

For your reply to my post at the moment I am doing a cardio rotation with Circuit Max and Body Max at opposing days in the week. Included in the rotation is Cardio Kick (I don't do any ab work on that day). IMAX and whatever 30 minute (usually one of the CTX cardio tapes) or 1 hour (step tape) I feel up to over 5 days.

My legs are developing well as is my upper body I just feel that my abs could do with a little extra attention. I don't have Ab Hits DVD I'm not sure if I will be getting it I do whoever own a DVD player and recently got all of Cathe's DVD's.

My problem is I don't like working out outside the street no hills around where I live or work just concrete, also the area I live in is lets just say not good I tend to only walk to and from the station on my to and from work.

I love your suggestion and will incorpate them in my new rotation I will take a look at S&H superman planks and put them in as well as Superman's

Thanks again for this. :)

RE: You're welcome, Starbuck!

Glad to hear my suggestions and others' were helpful to you. You'll quickly fall in love with ALL of the CTX ab routines! And, just a suggestion, maybe throw in an ab routine after Cardio Kicks as well; yes you'll be working the core a lot throughout the CK workout, but then you'll "shock" the abs by a little something extra at the end.

Do consider the Abs Hits DVD. I'm a s-l-o-o-w-w-w woman with a dollar so I don't recommend parting with hard-earned cash easily, but the Abs Hits DVD is an exceptional value, especially because of its versatility, for what you pay for it!

Good luck! Let us know how you get on!

RE: You're welcome, Starbuck!

Annette

After reading your postI have decided to extend my collection and I will get Ab Hits once I have paid for the new DVD's which I have already preordered.

I had a look at S&H supermans actually this is one move I was taught at school (for some reason I'm not sure of we were taught a few yoga poses) anyway this is one I can actually do quite easily so I will add this in.

I am still thinking of how to design my ab rotation, but I did do Cardio Kicks with the ab section from Leaner Legs boy did that hurt I could feel it in my upper abs.

I will get back to you with my final workout plan once I have finally decided how I will do it but I will include S&H abs into it because it has some great back work.

RE: You're welcome, Starbuck!

I currently don't have a DVD player and was thinking that I would wait until I got one (Christmas) before getting AbHits. Is AbHits that much better in DVD form to wait a few months or should I get it now on VHS? BTW, I'm really desperate about my lower abs. My upper abs are fine from doing endless crunches but nothing seems to make my lower abs shape up.

RE: Ab Hits DVD

IMHO, it's worth the wait to get Ab Hits DVD; there are more routines on it than on the video version, and the mix-match features {I almost wrote "feathers" instead of "features" - it's been a long week! :) } make it much easier to be versatile. You can shuffle segments from various ab routines based on what your preference is during any given workout with the touch of a button, rather than rewinding and fast-forwarding and hoping you know where you're going!

For "lower abs", understand that there's no discreet set of lower abdominal muscles; instead there is the lower PORTION of the abdominals, and all of the major muscles (rectus abdominus, external obliques, internal obliques, and transverse abdominus) funnel into that area.

HOWEVER

If you're not doing planks both prone (face-down) and supine (face-up)(as performed on the CTX-Kickbox, CTX-Power Circuit, Slow and Heavy Chest/Abs {I think}, Circuit Max {very brief routine} and Power Hour) start doing these at the first opportunity! Planks do what supine crunches cannot: recruit the transverse abdominus, the cummerbund-like muscle that wraps horizontally around the trunk and compresses the internal viscera. Crunches cannot train the transverse abdominus because the t.a. has no motor function, but planks CAN train the t.a. because it forces it to work against gravity to keep the spine stable.

Hope this helps -

RE: Hi Babs!

I usually do the planks and pushups from Circuit Max after Cardio Kicks since they are on the same DVD. I tried to do a complete ab routine after CK before and found that my obliques were toast by then, but the push ups (which also work the core) and the planks, are a real nice companion to CK in my opinion. Just a suggestion, take it or leave it. Hmm...where have I heard that before? Have fun!

RE: Ab Hits DVD

Thanks Annette, I guess I'll just have to be patient (not one of my strong suits!). I've started doing planks while I'm watching TV. I just received Ciruit Max today (I think I'm going to try it today too after previewing it) along with PowerHour so I now have more tapes with planks.

RE: Ab Hits DVD

Hi guys

Yes I do planks I hate them but I do them I did MIC yesterday and then S&H superman, planks and supine planks then abs from CTX lower body.

I will spend today working out an ab day and post it here to see what you think.

Thanks so much for your advice.

RE: Ab Hits DVD

Planks are lying face down on your elbows you push up first to your knees and then unto the balls of your feet keeping your body straight in alignmnent. Holding this position breathing in and out and then down Cathe uses this in her CTX Kickbox vid, Slow & Heavy Chest and back not sure were else. Its excellent for working your core area.

Second plank is done with your with your arms out of your should like a full body push up again holding this position whilst breathing in and out.

When I did them at the gym my instructor had me hold the position for 60 seconds I can only do them for a maximum of 30 seconds.
