I was 21 when I first tried Bare Minerals, and I had a bad experience as well. I didn't have bad acne at that time, but I did have some, and while it covered up my face pretty well, it made me break out even more in blackheads and the like. It also aged my face big-time while I was wearing it, and my skin was never dry, either. It settled into lines, pores, etc., and made me look several years older.
Recently, I decided to try another kind of mineral makeup called Natural Minerals. So far, it has really been great. It doesn't seem to break me out, it doesn't settle, and it looks pretty darn good. It has no crappy stuff in it, either.
The one product from Bare Minerals that I love and still use is their Pure Radiance powder. I use it as a blush, and I think it's nice. Very subtle, pink, and sparkly . I also use their black powdered eyeliner occasionally. I love the look I'm able to get from it, though it doesn't seem to last too long.
I've heard Glo Minerals are really good, but I've never tried them.
