I have the same symptoms but if it gets really out of hand, nausea and vomitting
The hardest thing is that IBS is so "individual". What sets me off, might not set the next person off. If it helps, what i do is the following:
If I am in a severe bout of IBS:
Nothing for 12 hours but broth or popsicles
Next 12 hours add crackers, bread or pretzels
Next 24 hours add CC, apple or peach yogurt (not sure why these two flavors but that is what is listed on my print out)
Next 24 hours add bland chicken
Usually by 3 days my symptoms have resided.
Things that set me off:
Dairy that is high in fat
Anything spicy
Onions, bell peppers
Waffles
Pancakes
Doughnuts
I do well with a clean type of diet:
Chicken, turkey, red meat (usually I try to eat it before dinner meal tho), eggs/egg beaters, breads, brown rice, fruits, veggies, potatoes, oatmeal, Cottage cheese, yogurt, etc.
I've also seen an ad on tv for a new medication for Women with IBS that have constipation as a symptom. I haven't asked my doctor about it since I already take 7-8 meds a day for chronic pain and carpal.
