Anyone here lose 50 pounds with Cathe?

I am not new to cathe or to working out. However, I've not worked out in about 18 months. I had my 3rd c-section in June, moved to a new city in october and somehow convinced myself I looked ok. WRONG! So, i'm very serious now. I know that ya'll hear that a lot, but for real...I'm serious. We changed out diets in November, but i was eating more than I should be, just of healthy foods. So, now i am cutting the food and upping the exercise.

So, any of you lose 50 pounds with cathe? My birthday is in 10 weeks, and I want to be 20 pounds lighter for my first goal. Doable? I also, more importantly, want to be a size 12 down from a 16. I am 5'2, 190 pounds, and really hide it well.

Encouragement needed, from those who have BTDT!

Thanks!!
Jessica

Hi Jessica- I am on my way to losing 50 pounds with Cathe. I have lost about 33 pounds so far and am hoping for another 20-30. It has taken me since May, so it has been a little slow. My dad passed away during that time though, so to say I have been stressed and upset would be an understatement. Cathe cardio has been a great escape for me... It is so much fun to workout with Cathe and I look forward to my "escape" each day. If you watch your diet and commit yourself you will succeed. Good Luck!

As of yesterday morning I have lost 70 lbs with Cathe weight training and CardioCoach (Cardio Coach is my main cardio exercise). I started in June/July 2008 and went from a size 22 to now a size 14/16 and dropped 11 % of bodyfat so far. I still have a long way to go but it's a good start :D

2 lbs per week is doable, if you have a lot to lose it will probably be more in the beginning / first couple of weeks and get less and less as you approach your goal weight. My advice would be to watch what you eat but don't go too low in calories either, exercise alone is not going to do the trick.

Just from my experience as a former yo-yo dieter, I would suggest that you set a goal but focus more on enjoying the journey than obsessing over reaching certain numbers on the scale.

I lost 75lb and competed in a Figure Comp and Cathe was one of my staples as I didn't always have gym access.

Everytime I pull out Hardcore Extreme I have a grin from ear to ear.

Hey Jessica!! I am very petite also (more like 5'1" or 5'0" haha) and I was similar in weight to you after the birth of DS. I started by putting him in the stroller and walking for an hour a day, then I joined a gym, but when my relationship with DX fell apart, I couldn't really afford the gym, or a babysitter, anymore.

That's when I found Cathe -- I had always wanted to try step, and the beginner set I bought came with Cathe DVDs. My life was FOREVER changed. She also introduced me to serious weight training, which has also changed my life forever.

Today I am about 134 pounds, about a 50 pound loss altogether -- some with Cathe, and some before.

You CAN do this, and we are all here to help and support you whenever you need it!!

Oh I love these stories, good thread, keep 'em coming! I want to have a story this year too! Congrats to all of you! :D

You can lose the 20 pounds

In that time frame. However, I don't know about being in a 12 at 170. If you are in a 16 now expecting a four size (number I know its really two sizes at the store) it might be demoralizing to not hit that size. Cathe is definitely the way to go. I broke an 8 month plateau with her help, a heart rate monitor, cardio 6x a week, cutting out dairy, and calorie cycling. What I like about her workouts is that (especially with step) I can modify my intensity based on what my heart is actually doing not just one intensity because thats the intensity of the workout (if that makes sense). Also, at a certain point you need the workouts just to be more advanced. I don't bother with anything that says "beginner" anymore. It just doesn't cut it (except with running. but thats another story.) In the past 6 months I've lost 32 pounds with Cathe. I'm 5'3" and I started at 210 in June. I'm down to 178. I had been stuck because I was eating too little protein. Circuits with Cathe 3x a week plus running intervals (not HIIT) for about 45 minutes three times a week and yoga a couple nights a week seems to work for me.

Hey, Jessica. Congrats on the baby!

I lost 48 pounds about 4 years ago, using Cathe workouts and Weight Watchers for my eating (glad to say MOST of it has stayed off, lol). It CAN BE DONE! And you'll get plenty of support here!

To all of you who have lost weight: CONGRATS!!! You should be very proud of your accomplishments.

To those still struggling to lose - I know this is sound weird to say but I'm so happy to know I'm not the only overweight Cathe girl around! :) I've gained 10 pounds since August due to stress at work and before that I wanted to lose 27 so the grand total I have to lose now is 37. (Actually, 34 since I've lost 3 already. :D)

Anyway, I just wanted to say

YOU CAN DO IT!

WE CAN ALL DO IT if we approach it with the right attitude, keep our expectations realistic and stay focused.

Jessica - I think your goal is realistic. How are you planning to track your calories? I use FitDay and love it. I know some people don't count calories but I'm not much of an intuitive eater. If I see it, I want it. LOL Good luck to you.

Me, too! Almost like Name Up In Lights thing... I have 40 or so to lose... I'm also 5'-0" so I figure on 10 pounds per size... I'm a loose 16 right now, 20 lbs would be a size 12 for me... (I have BTDT too) and would be happy somewhere between an 8 and 10... HOWEVER, last time I lost all that weight it was mostly from diet, not exercise, so who knows what I can accomplish with the assistance of STS and Cathe's other workouts!

knowing that there ARE people here on the forums that HAVE been successful is a definate plus!

I lost 47 lbs in about 10 months a little over a year ago. I started with slowly correcting my eating habits. I had a lot of emotional eating issues (parents deaths, extremely stressful job, sibling fights over the estate, etc). After I got some of the eating under control I started a more intense exercise program (I had always walked the dog). I started with Jari Love and that's how I found Cathe and then from there Cardio Coach.

I'm in better shape now than I was 20 yrs ago, but I still don't fit into my old ski outfit from my 20's....I fit, but it's too snug to move :). My body has probably changed a bit since then with giving birth to 2 boys. I'm running now (6 miles in an hour) whereas I never did ever in my life.

Anyway, I did it one step at a time. Sure I wanted a slimmer body, but what I really wanted was better health. I saw my sister getting diabetes, I already had high BP and acid reflux( those are now gone for me).

This is a fabulous place for support and knowledge! I continuely try to refine my eating habits as I learn more.

I need to also remind myself at times that I am worth the effort. Sometimes you need to put yourself first, it's hard for us women to put ourselves first as we are natural caretakers of others and skimp on our needs.

Good luck on your journey, enjoy the trip, you will reach milestones but the journey is endless.
