I do! I use it to talk to my husband overseas when the rare occasion is blessed upon me.

Who else has one?! I think it's really fun and an easy way to stay in contact will all kinds of folks!!!

We have Skype! We also use a new program through gmail! Of course my DH isn't gone much these days!

I know! The last time he went anywhere was in 1994 (I know, we're super lucky he hasn't gone more.) and we didnt' even have a computer then. We were only able to communicate through letters and it took 2 weeks for a letter to reach him.

I got a taste of just doing the snail mail communication while he was in boot camp. That was dreadful. He would write on a regular basis so I had a really good idea when i was getting a letter.

However, for 3 weeks I didn't get ANYTHING from him...I was sooo stressed out and scared! When I finally got a letter from him....I could hear the angels sing!!! lol

Skype's a life(and $$) saver!

Hands up to testify for skype as well Since I now work overseas it's a huge financial help in talking to my mom back home for as long as I want. Phone bills used to be COLOSSAL! I'm now on the hunt for a new laptop with a built in webcam and a mic so that I can move anywhere around the room and still be seen/heard.

A friend who goes back & forth from OH to TX told me about it yesterday. I'm going to look into it.

I'd like to do this so I can talk to my DD at college. She has a Mac, so that has the video and mic. I have a regular PC desktop. Do I need a headset? I have an old webcam that I can use. How do you get in touch with the other person. Do you acutally call a number or just hope to catch them online. Thanks for the help!

Hey Phillis! YES, you will need a headset to hear and a microphone to that others can hear you talk. That is if you don't already have those built into your computer/lap top.

You can catch poeple online when they sign on to chat/video chat with them....OR...you can actually call peoples' cell phones and landlines and talk to them that way! (that way costs money though).

If you and your friends have skype, that way is totally free!
