Anyone have a Vita-Mix (or similar) blender?

Hello everyone. My husband and I have been thinking of getting a powerful blender, and I wondered if anyone has one and what you think of it. They're quite expensive, so I want to ask around before spending so much $$.

If you have one, has it been worth it for you, and what do you use it for most?

Thanks for any input.

Have a great holiday weekend!

I have a vita mixer. I purchased it several years ago after my sister (the most frugal person on the planet) kept raving about hers. She mixes a lot of veggie drinks.
My vita mixer is the most used appliance in my house. My entire family uses it to blend smoothies so I would consider us heavy users.
I'm thrilled with the power and the quality. It has lasted like no other blender I've owned. Most of my blenders would choke up, leak, or both.
I've replaced the blade twice since my original purchase. I want to say I've had mine 5 years.

I don't have one, but a good friend of mine does and she loves it. She calls it her blender on crack! In addition to the normal blender stuff, she makes soups and ice cream in it and she even grinds grain to make her own flour.

I have one and I love it. I mostly use it to make smoothies with frozen fruit which it has no trouble with. I also use it to make whole veggie juice and it handles all of the fiber with no problem. Periodically I use it for other stuff like grinding flax or making peanut butter. It has always handled beautifully.

I don't have one either, but I've been meaning to get one. I've never heard anything but good about them!

Oh get one! Love mine!! :D:D The motor is super powerful, I use it everyday mostly for protein drink smoothies with frozen fruit, or I just make frzn fruit and water smoothies, like a huge blender full to last a couple of days. Every blender before this breaks or cracks, so although this one is expensive, I was racking up quite a bill buying $100 blenders over and over again.

My father has had is I think for over 8 years. He bought the extra canister to blend dry grains and stuff, but I didn't need that.

You can even make a soup right in it, and because the motor is so powerful, when you let it run for a few minutes, it will even make the soup hot right out of the blender!! Cool, huh?? I tried it, it works :p

We have had ours for 10 years. It is a great piece of equipment. I would totally buy another one if I had to.

We have a Blendtec blender, which is like a Vita-Mix. It is awesome. We both use it to make smoothies and I use it instead of a food processor for soups and to make oat flour and grind up flax seeds. It is very easy to clean and is very powerful. We used to have a to buy a new blender every 2 years or so but this one has lasted 4 years so far and is going strong.

I've also got one and also cringed at the price, but absolutely love mine now. It is mostly used for smoothies and protein shakes but also used for ice cream, shakes and soup from time to time. I've made bread in it (and ground my own flour). My husband was in heaven but I wasn't crazy about the texture. Maybe someone has some hints there (the dry container is extra for this function though).

The recipes that come with it are very good.

My Vitamix was worth every penny. You can also buy refurbished ones off of their site that carry the same warranty, but cost less.
