Anyone from Long Island?

I used to be! I was born in Massapequa, but moved to the area I currently live in with my family when I was 10 yrs old (currently 30). We used to go back and visit a lot but I haven't been there in years! Good old "Laaawngiland" ;)

Oh my.....I was raised a long time ago in Bay Shore, Long Island. The NY accent never leaves...lol.

That must be interesting....a lingering LI accent mixed with a Texan one:p.

I live in Deer Park, but I grew up in Patchogue.
Doesn't seem like anyone is from the area. I may have to find recruits!!

Chrissy, we're going out to Long Island today for Father's Day. My DH grew up in Great Neck and his whole family is still out there in Nassau County. We're going to Plainview today.

i grew up in east northport, not too far from deer park. my sister lives in northport. i miss long island!

I'm here I'm here! I was born and raised in Southampton. Lived in New Jersey for 10 years, but moved back here to SH. We missed the water and family too much.

I was born in Rockville Centre and my parents grew up there. We moved when I was 8 (now 49).
Not to be snobby, but no one in my family ever said "Laaawngiland." ;)

Ha -I always thought it was pronounced lawnguyland-;)

Thanks for the responses. It's nice to know I'm not the only one out here.
Laura-Southampton must be nice. I haven't been out that way in so long. Do you live on the water?

jnka825-My parents and sister still live in Patchogue. My sister is a teacher in PM school district.

If anyone ever wants to meet for coffee, lunch pm me sometime. I would love to meet more Catheletes. Actually none of my friends (but 1) even workout.

Hey Chrissy - Yes, I am sooo lucky to have been raised here and to still live here. We do not live right on the water, but we are within walking distance to a lake, two minutes from the bay where we can launch our boat, and five minutes from the ocean. It is truly a water wonderland. The only drawback are the increase of crowds in the summer. But you tell yourself that it is only for a couple of months, and it's okay. My sil and myself work out to Cathe three days a week...Hey, are you going to the NYC trip?

Born in Brooklyn, moved to Mineola, L.I. when I was a freshman in H.S. - went to Mineola High. My brothers live in Levittown and East Meadow.

Hi Laura-That sounds really amazing.
No, I am not going to NYC. I have too much going on that day. My kids only have 1/2 days wed, thurs, fri. I am also taking them camping in CT as soon as they get home on Friday. Are you going?

I will, however, be on the RT. Can't wait for that one.

Do you still live in Mineola?
Do have birds...is that the significance of your logon?

Hi Chrissy,
Actually my mom has alzheimer's and lives with my brothers in Levittown and East Meadow. The house in Mineola is still there and we go there weekly to maintain it.

Yes, I have cockateils and one parakeet. My teils are extremely old - one is 23, the other two brothers are 21. I originally had 11 birds, but am down to just 4. Said when they get told. Avian vet said the oldest teil he has seen was 23.

I live in Smithtown and I am originally from queens. I totally agree with the "lawnguyland" that is so funny.
