anyone else??

This thread is deviating towards decision making whether to go totally for online access, downloads, dvd or a combination. For this we all need to be aware of requirement. Here below are requirements for downloads. The information need to be updated.

Are you ready to download?

There are a few things you should check to make sure you are fully ready to download and enjoy a CatheDownload video:

1. Are you using an internet connection capable of downloading files of this size?

Make sure your internet connection is able to handle downloading large file sizes or that your ISP (Internet Service Provider) does not put a limit on how much you can download. We recommend at least using a DSL, Cable, or faster internet connection. We strongly ADVISE AGAINST using a Dial-Up connection, there is a very good chance you will not be able to complete your download.

2. Do you have enough time to complete your download?

We do not put any time limit on our downloads, we only limit the number of attempts (or clicks). You can always purchase one day and download on another. To estimate the time it would take to download our videos, try this online tool: http://www.csgnetwork.com/csdlspeedcalc.html. Just enter the file size found in each ‘product details page’ and click ‘MB’ (megabytes). Then find your connection speed in the chart below to see your estimated download time.

3. Do you have enough hard disk space?

Many of our download files are at least 500MB – 1GB. Check that you have enough disk space on your computer to adequately store these downloads. We advise against filling your computer to its maximum capacity.

4. Minimum Hardware/Software Requirements

Mac

  • iTunes 9 or later
  • QuickTime 7.5 or later
  • Mac OS X version 10.3.9 or later
  • Macintosh with a 1GHz PowerPC G4 processor or better
  • At least 2GB of RAM
  • At least 128MB of Video RAM
  • Broadband Internet connection (DSL/Cable/LAN)
PC

  • iTunes 9 or later
  • QuickTime 7.5 or later (included with iTunes 7.7 for Windows)
  • Zune Software 3.0 or later
  • 32-bit editions of Windows XP Service Pack 2 or Vista
  • 64-bit editions of Windows Vista
  • 2GHz Pentium class Windows-compatible PC
  • At least 2GB of RAM
  • At least 128MB of video RAM
  • Broadband Internet connection (DSL/Cable/LAN)

I don't think the service is better or worse based on your operating system, to be honest. It more likely has something to do with connectivity with your ISP or maybe WiFi, or perhaps issues on Cathe's servers or with their ISP.

For someone living in the contiguous US, I'm more tempted to point at the OnDemand servers and their ISP because my internet is spot-on 99% of the time. And I'm saying this as someone who works remote and has to access the cloud for pretty much everything I do for my job. And I work with some pretty massive files on top of it. If something goes amiss it's usually the cloud servers, not my connection or operating system.

Anyway, OnDemand still bugs out too many times for me to feel it's worth paying the subscription. Which is a bummer, because I did actually like the Workout Blender and having automatic access to ALL her titles.

I mainly work from home and do not have any issue connecting remotely.
So my connection here in Europe living in a big city is pretty reliable.

Good to know.....I was thinking to re-subscribe next time I travel but will leave it for later.
I just hope that the developper will fix issues.

I loved the workout blender from the offline version. It is not sufficient to justify the subscription cost though.

Well, I have a new Samsung tablet and all of our smart tvs are Samsung. I was viewing a down load on my tablet and found the setting to connect with smart view to the TV. Easy easy and excellent picture. I think I will view Live this way and see if It is less glitchy. I am really happy I figured this out. I was originally using an older tablet that obviously didn't have smart view built in. Yay for me!

This morning Box and Burn stopped at 4 min. 30 sec. and I could not get it to start again at all. There is no way I am going to renew this subscription to Live, and I regret it, since I have been a subscriber for years, and mostly only once occasionally and rarely would I have a freeze. But lately it's just too frustrating. I really don't know what has happened to this streaming site lately.

As it has been suggested, a mail to address the issue is what anyone would do.

Without any knowledge of what is happening internally at cathedotcom, I am assuming there are some work operating prior to the series release. DVDs no longer being sold individually, there is a change as far as business is concerned. Downloads sales will eventually increase and this require some change within the cloud platform/server. That is my 2 cents!

The connection you are referring to is a very easy wireless way to connect anyone owning and android device ( tablette, tv and phone). Good info to anyone reading, in need of setting up for downloads. Glad you mentioned it.

All the best!

I did contact customer service and was told to reboot the server. We do that every week. That was it. My solution is simply avoid aggravation and don’t resubscribe.

I am sorry you could not get the issue resolved. Thank you for getting back to tell the outcome.
