Anyone else in last trimester?

I am at 35 weeks (due April 3rd) and was wondering who else is closing in fast on their due date! I am feeling really good and am still exercising three or four times a week. I'm still doing Cathe tapes - both cardio and weights. I thought by now I'd have scaled back a lot, but I'm just modifying things like impact and intensity as my body tells me.

Does anyone else notice that people around them freak out a bit when they find you are still exercising and doing sit ups and other things? I'm finding that exercising during pregnancy (especially this late) is an exception rather than a rule among the people I associate with.

I'm getting very excited for this little person to arrive! I can't wait to see if it's a boy or girl. I'm starting to stock up on diapers and baby supplies and I guess we'll set up the crib here before too long.

Hi Michelle,

I'm at 28 weeks and counting. I;m trying to enjoy it because this may very wellbe my last pregnancy(#3). Lately I've been having more discomfort(feelslike my bottoms going to drop out!) Other than that, this has been a pretty easy pregnancy.

Take care!

Hi Michelle! I'm not pregnant anymore, but I exercised hard until the day before I had my baby girl (last August 14). I did full Cathe weights tapes and did Spinning (up until August 12) & walking for cardio. I also kept up with abdominal exercises, including supine crunches.

People did kind of freak out when they found out I was still exercising. I got lots of questions like "Are you sure your doctor thinks this is OK?"

BUT... boy, was I glad that I had kept up my program. I had a C-section and my recovery was very quick. I never took any painkillers after my epidural wore off, and I was up walking within 24 hours. I was completely back into my routine at full intensity by 8 weeks after delivery.

Keep it up as long as you can -- you'll be happy you did!

Stebby?

I'd love to hear more about your fitness program during pregnancy. Did you continue to do Cathe? What modifications did you make? I'm only 6 weeks and I'm in the tired stage. Any input would be helpful.

Thanks.

Valerie - I know what you mean about the little things that come with being pregnant! The past few weeks my hands have been getting numb and tingly when I lay down and even when lifting my dumbbells on certain moves. Luckily these things go away!

Stebby - Thanks for the encouragement! I will be having a c-section and I've read your posts about your recovery and you inspire me! With my last c-section I didn't exercise past about 25 weeks and then I was on bed rest, plus I had twins which was hard on my body in its own right. Anyway, I had a terrible recovery and was so out of shape. So this time around I know it will be easier and I am so glad I've stayed in shape. Just this morning my husband told me he could't even tell I was pregnant from the back and that only by belly made me look pregnant! It feels good to be exercising and it helps to know that I have an advantage for recovery after my c-section.

Letswork - I remember that tired first trimester. I moved my step to four inches at that point and just listened to my body tell me how intense to work out. If you do a search you can find other helpful posts on general modifications during pregnancy. Just listen to your own body, though!

RE: Stebby?

Hi, Letswork! The only modifications I made were to lower my weights (e.g. used 15 lb dumbbells where I used to use 20; 12 where I used to use 10, etc.) and eliminate impact in the last 8 weeks. Some days I had to lower the intensity of my cardio, but other days I was able to go full out. Since you are tired right now, you may find that you have to cut your program down a bit -- just listen to your body and you will be fine! In my first trimester I replaced some of my cardio sessions with walks, but I was able to go back to Cathe tapes and Spinning in the second trimester. Good luck with your pregnancy!

Hi,
I am also in my last trimester. I am 33 weeks today. I feel really good and I attribute that to exercise. I have worked out at least 4-5 days a week throughout this pregnancy. I did take 3 weeks off when I had bad morning sickness though. I am still using most of my Cathe workouts and just modifying the impact and lowering my weights.

Baby #4 - due April 23rd.
