Anyone else here can't do yoga besides me?

Not just for the reason that I fell over most of the time, but I found it really boring. I tried for four months and that was it. Anyone else?

I have never tried yoga...I just have no interest. I have done pilates and liked it. Intend to get back into it again one day but yoga...I just don't even want to try it...I don't know why!?!

The first time I tried yoga, it turned me off of doing yoga again for several years. It was very new age, and meditative... the instructor was going on about how we should 'feel at one with the air and water and earth' etc etc... Not the best choice for a newbie yogi.

Anyhow - fast forward 4 years, I tried a vinyasa class - and I really love it... Not meditative at all - it is actually QUITE a workout.

Having said that, I do prefer pilates - but I feel that the yoga compliments the pilates practice.

I've tried yoga in many different ways: instructor, class, DVDs...and I've disliked it every time. I can do about 15 minutes before I want to scream and move on to something more active. I used to be upset about it but now just figure I don't have to like everything that comes along.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming ‘Wow - what a ride!’ — Peter Sage

I like yoga but more than 30 minutes is too much for me. I took a class that lasted for an hour. I got bored with it because the instructor wasn't the best.:-(

I don't care for it either. I took a few classes at the gym, and I didn't like it nearly as much as the other classes. I've tried Karen Voight, and most recently Yoga X, but it's just not me. I found myself dreading Thursdays during the 6 weeks I did P90X until finally I allowed myself to just let it go. (OTOH I really enjoyed the rest of P90X, and I made incredible gains during those 6 weeks. I just don't have a 12 week attention span :) )

Have you tried Sara Ivanhoe's 20 Minute Yoga Makever workouts? She has several and each one really is only 20 min. This is the only yoga I have and own right now and I really enjoy her. I wouldn't say yoga is my favorite activity but it is becoming something I do more often now that I own these workouts. I'm now researching what the next step from Sara Ivanhoe would be and I'm thinking of the Crunch yoga series. I do own MTV yoga and now that I've done and mastered the 20 min. workouts I may give that a try again and see what I think. The thing that I've tried and don't care for so far is pilates.

I've tried yoga on and off for years, without really getting into it. Strangely enough, it was Yoga X that got me intereseted in it (I like the more athletic approach). I haven't kept up with it, unfortunately, but I do see the value in it (for strengh, flexibility, etc.).

I agree that Sara Ivanhoe is quite approachable. The "Quick fix yoga" workout is nice, too: three, 10 minute sections (and maybe a bonus section as well)? so you can do yoga in small doses (some say a little bit every day is better than a longer session less often).

I've also tried yoga on and off for 7 years now and I just can't get into it. I've enjoyed some of the specific stretches and used them at the end of workouts but that's about it. I haven't tried the Yoga X but it does sound a little interesting to me. Maybe I don't like it because I'm already pretty flexible so I don't really need to work on that. Also, I find that being flexible doesn't equate to being strong and for me, being strong is WAY more important. I know that yoga does incorporate some body weight stuff but there just isn't enough of it in classes or tapes to keep me interested.

I have tried yoga on and off as well. I take a class at my gym which I enjoy, but I also like Sarah Ivanhoe's Crunch Candlelight Yoga. It's relaxing, and not over the top.

My biggest challenge with Yoga, is that I have to learn to relax. Like others that have posted, I'm ready to move on to the next thing after a couple of minutes!!LOL!!

I have only tried Denise Austin I liked the yoga Buns. To many interruptions with my children to feel or become one with anything. I would like to go try it at an actual facility.

I just finished an hour of yoga. I like it because I used to absolutely HATE it, and I don't like very many of the DVD instructors. I'm afraid to try it in a classroom setting. Ick.

I like power yoga and won't do regular yoga. It's harder for me to do, so I feel like I've accomplished something. I do have noticeable improvements, which keeps me going. I maybe get around to it once a week.

Cannot STAND Pilates. HATE IT. ;)

I too find yoga really boring. I took a 6 week class a couple of years ago with some friends. I just kept watching the clock. I wish I liked it but I guess it is just not for me as it is too slow.

At first, I couldn't get into it. I have to force myself to slow down,a s I tend to be a hyper person, but I think I really need it. I have done some yoga I disliked, but more recently, I'm finding practicing that are sequenced so well for me that I end up feeling so good afterwards. I think I get a "yoga buzz". I tend to like practices that start with sun salutations, warriors, etc. and then move into numerous hip openers, twists, and forward bends followed by inversions. This sequence really detoxifies my body and relieves stress in my hips (which hold a lot of stress and toxins). Yes....I need to force myself to slow down, but the end result is always better than a 15 minute stretch session.
