Anyone else can't bring themselves to part with Cathe VHS's?

I have so many workouts on VHS because when I discovered Cathe, she was having a big VHS sale and I gobbled up as many as I could.

I have slowly been replacing them with the DVD's because missing out on the premixes just isn't fair!;-)

Now I have many of the series' in complete VHS sets as well as DVD and I just can't seem to part with the VHS's.

Seems silly, but I think I'm going to hold on the VHS's just in case...just in case "what", I have no idea!?!

Yeah, I have all her cardio VHSs that were made up until I bought a DVD player about 3 years ago. So that's A LOT!!!!!!! My first Cathe VHS was Power Max & I brought it to the last RT for her autograph. Well, wouldn't you know the tape broke about a month later? And what did I do? I ordered another VHS so I could put it in the sleeve w/her signature on it!

Anyway, I packed them all up about a month ago when I bought my new TV (I needed the shelf for the HD box), but I'll never get rid of them.

RE: Anyone else can't bring themselves to part with Cat...

I use my videos as a Cathe lending library, if a friend wants to try her before buying. I'm more reluctant to lend my dvds (but I will if I really know and trust the person).

Hello,

I would say hang on to them, don't sell them for cheap. You could always lend them out or give them away as presents.

I used to have VHS workout tapes that I sold for very very very cheap and I have regretted it ever since. I have a friend who is keen to start exercising and I wish I could give them to her instead. The bloody shop I sold them to made more money than me!!! (I was ripped off.)

I won't part with my Cathe VHS either:) I still use them on occasion to mish mosh some workouts. I don't have a multi disc player so sometimes I'll cue up the VHS to B-max upperbody and a DVD say...MM upperbody premix, after MM chest I'll do B-Max chest..... Some DVDs like CardioKicks and Circuit Max don't have premixes so I use my VHS to mix those up with other workouts as well:)

RE: Anyone else can't bring themselves to part with Cat...

The VCR has been working its way through eating my Cathe VHSs.

Rhythmic Step was the first to be sacrificed. Now Slow and Heavy Chest and Triceps has been offered up to the videotechnology gods.

Those are all great ideas for keeping them. I like the idea of using the VHS's to mish-mosh with the DVD's since I only have a single DVD player.

In the beginning, I was considering selling them on EBay, but even my DH advised against it. He said that I wouldn't get anywhere near what they are worth to me and he's right. They are just about priceless.

I had a really tough time parting with mine as well, but I ending up trading them with a good friend for a really nice bed for my DD. Shame is I don't thing she has done a thing with them!x(

For heaven's sake! The only way I was able to afford my Cathe DVDs was to sell all my Cathe VHS tapes on Ebay! Then I used the money to buy the DVDs--on Ebay! (and some at an online swapmeet). Happily, this was before bootlegs started popping up all over the place.

I just got rid of several of my Cathe VHS tapes (since I had them on DVD's). I was hesitant at first, but then went ahead and did it. I did not, however, get rid of some of the very early VHS tapes that I have (Step N Motion I, II, Rock Bottoms, and a few others that are out of print) I do plan on selling those on E-bay soon (because I do not use them -- I only use and love her subsequent workouts!)

Anyhow -- I will probably be getting rid of the rest of my Cathe VHS tapes soon only because VHS will not be popular much longer!

I don't understand the reasoning for keeping VHS tapes. Are the people that are keeping them hoping the tapes will become collector's items - kind of like some LPs did when things switched over to CDs?

The problem is LPs don't necessarily deteriorate over time as quickly as VHS tape certainly does. And certainly VHS tape players will be a welcome thing of the past as well.

P.S. I hope my tone has not come off as snarky because that is not my intention! :)

My reason for keeping them: If I need to work out at someone else's house and they only have a VHS machine, I can take my tapes with me. I also have an attachment to Christi Taylor's VHS tapes, even though I have all of them on DVD. I say, if you have the room, just put them away - you never know.

I have a portable DVD player - a great investment if you can do it.

It keeps me quiet if I ever travel on a plane (I hate to travel).

However, they might object if I tried to do my Cathe DVDs. :p

RE: Anyone else can't bring themselves to part with Cat...

I keep them for sentimental reasons. Not hoping they'll be collectors' items, not hoping to make any money from them in the near or far future, they're just a reminder of my ongoing fitness journey. :)

I think that's it for me too Laura. Everytime I look at All Step, it brings me back to when I thought I could never do a workout like that.

Reminds me of how far I've come.
