Anyone doing plyo as cardio...?

And if so how is it going and does it feel like effective cardio.?
I think it would be good if I got an extra leg workout in and since I do not do legs till Saturday I thought about doing plyo legs tommorow:eek:
But I wanted to get an opiion from those who have tried it.
I thought it might help my endurance and stamina too.
Thanks in advance...

I did plyo legs with the intention of it being a cardio/legs workout. Most of the workouts are under an hour 45-50 minutes so I added my favourite 15-20 minutes of cardio at the beginning to make it a full hour. I also find that cardio (not too much) warms up the legs so they don't feel so heavy during the plyo moves. I added the cardio at the beginning for fear that I would be too tired at the end - or talk myself out of it after the leg workout. I was sweating throughout - and my legs were tired! It felt like a good workout. I think the extra cardio at the beginning helped get the cardio factor going (started the fat burning effect). Anyway - it went fast and was fun. The weight segments felt like a break next to the plyo - you do get pretty winded toward the end of the workout. I would definately do it again - but not more than twice a week if already doing another leg workout. Hope this helps.

I am doing the plyo legs each saturday. I am considering it my second leg day but cardio also. I want to wear my HRM this Saturday just to see what it says.

My schedule is this with STS
M - upper body
T - cardio
W - lower body
Th - cardio
F - upper body
sat - plyo
Sun - REST

I wanted to get the legs twice so I put the leg workout in between the two upper body and Cathe said this was fine if that is what I like.

I'm keeping the rotation as written, but I'm subbing one day of cardio for plyo.

Monday-Chest/biceps/shoulders
Tuesday-Plyo
Wednesday-back/triceps
Thursday-Cardio
Friday-legs
Saturday-Cardio
Sunday- stretch/walk(active rest)

I like that, Cynthia, putting the plyo in between the two UB workouts. I'm going to have to remember that next week!

I've been doing a plyo workout each week as a cardio/lower body workout and I love it!! The first week I used pretty light weights because I was afraid my legs would get too tired but the next week I really upped them as you are mostly doing sets of 12 reps, which isn't much. I feel the exercises much more this way. I love, love, love the Plyo Legs workouts!

This is what I'm doing:

Sat. STS Meso 1, chest/shoulders/bis
Sun. Short cardio (like SJ&P step segment) followed by Plyo Legs
Mon. STS Meso 1, back/tris
Tue. Non-step cardio (Kick Max, KP&C, Cardio Kicks, 4DS Cardio Power premix, etc)
Wed. STS Meso 1, legs
Thu. Step cardio
Fri. Rest

I'm looking forward to Meso 2 as the leg disc falls between the two upper body discs. But I am loving Meso 1. Who knew muscle endurance workouts could be so tough?????

Great suggestions! This sounds fun to get more use out of Plyo Legs than just saving them for the last Mesocycle.

Thanks everyone!
I did the plyo legs yesterday and I too am thinking about making it a weekly thing. This was a really great workout. My maximum hr topped out at 212. I was working my butt off. How about those 180 jumps...mine were more like
90's on the second set:D But they were lots of fun.
I am doing a 5 month rotation. Repeating meso 1 and 2 and then going through meso 3 only once since it is repetitive. So I think I will repeat the plyo legs 2 times each also.
I do not know about anyone else but I do not want this to end. It is so much fun when everyday is a surprise.
