Any opinions on the Spinning program on informercials?

RE: Any opinions on the Spinning program on informercia...

Hi Darli Ann,

As a certified Spinning Instructor, you can rest assured that what you're getting is an authentic home version of the spinning program. The DVDs are excellent and really stress the key fundamentals of spinning. The bike is a home version of the popular club bikes. I highly recommend looking up www.studiocycles.com. Jeff Wimmer is THE authority on bike maintenance. I just recently bought a spinning bike from him for my home gym. He also has a GREAT deal going right now on eBay for an upgraded model. Jeff is contracted out by Madd Dogg Athletics (the body that certifies spinning instructors) for all of their bike maintenance. He tunes and rebuilds every single bike he sells. I received mine a few weeks ago, and it was well lubricated and rides smooth as butter. Anyway, let me know if you have questions. Jeff throws in lots of goodies too, and I think he offers a better deal than spinning.com. However, the program is PHENOMENAL (as long as you follow it), and a great way to bring spinning workouts from the gym into your home.

All the best! Nia :)

P.S. Someone just asked a similar question earlier this week on spin bikes. I responded with the link to Jeff's current eBay auction and eBay handle.

i got the johnny g spin bike and workout tapes from the infomercial. while it was good i thought it was boring and got some other spinning cardio workouts from college video. i was so used to gym spinning classes that doing it on my own just wasn't the same. i don't use the spinning bike at all.

Darli Ann,

No problem. You can also use your spinner bike with Spinervals DVDs and cardio coach. There are many options, just depends on how much you personally like indoor cycling.

As for bikes, I've heard that from a longevity perspective, the Spinner Home version bikes aren't as durable as the commercial grade bikes like the Spinner Pro/Elite/NXT. Not to sounds like a commercial for Jeff, but he has a deal right now on a 2007 Spinner Pro that is comparable to www.spinning.com's home version super sport package. Again, the fact that Jeff tunes the bike for you is worth it's weight in gold. He also gives you a great manual for preventative maintenance procedures, as well as (depending on your deal), clips, DVDs, music, as well as free lifetime support for as long as you own your bike. No bike will be maintenance free, but it's good to know that the bike has been tuned before you get it. Anyway, I'll certainly let you make a decision on your own, but wanted to make sure you had more feedback to make an informed decision.

I just got the Spinner Fit from the infomercial. If you go to their main website (www.spinning.com), you'll see the bike is, as Nia stated, just a scaled down version of their gym bikes. They gym bikes are very expensive. The Spinner Fit came nicely packaged, popped together in minutes and feels very solid and sturdy. It fits very nicely in my home, as well - the bike has a slightly smaller footprint than the gym versions. I haven't watched the DVDs yet, but I'm sure they'll be fine. You can't recreate the gym atmosphere in your home (unless you put in lights, a sound system and bring in other people - haha!), so be realistic there. There are also lots of other options to get additional DVDs, as well. I just received proper biking shoes, as well, which makes a difference in your ride. So far, I'm loving the bike and am very excited to get into a regular spinning program - especially now that Cathe has a DVD coming out.

I got one of the original bikes when this first came out years ago and mine is still going strong. So I've had it at least 15 - 20 years, if not longer. I don't think they're cheap made. Now I've been on some in my gym that were. I think since you're the only one that will be using your home version it will be fitted for you at all times so you won't have to make adjustments as you do at the gym.

The workouts that come with the bike are great. I did move on to the Spinnerval DVDs and they're excellent as well. I just wish that there were more mad dog workouts that were coming out so I'd have variety.

Why aren't they making more spinning dvds with this company it would be a great way to keep making money.....leigh:)

Walkrtalkr - they do have additional DVDs - including a DVD of the month club. Go to www.spinning.com and click on videos. They have some that are outdoor rides, too - San Fran, Ireland, Rocky Mountains, etc. And very reasonably priced!
