Another Tanning question

I also have a tanning question, I LOVE TO BE TANNED, however, getting older (late 20's) Im finally wising up, now my question is regarding self-tanners, do they come off when you workout from you sweating so much? I would be sooo embarassed working out at my gym and have orange dripping down my face. Please share your experiences, also what is the best one that you have used?

Thanks.
Lori

Hi Lori:

I've used the Mario Badescu one and thought that it was very good. I don't remember it coming off on anything, but I'll try it again and post back.

On the Firm Ya Ya's some people recommended Paula's Choice self tanner as the best one. And I've also heard that Estee Lauder's is good. Ask someone at the counter if their product will come off.

PS If you find something great, please tell us!!!!

I use self-tanner, however, I've never tried it on my face. I don't use a super-dark tanner on my body so you don't really notice any difference. As for it coming off, if you let it dry BEFORE you workout, you'll be fine. I've never "dripped" the tanner off, but if you put clothes on too soon, the tanner will get on your clothes and doesn't come out well. I think sweating makes it worse and the tan probably won't last as long.

I use Endless Summer by Coopertone. It's around $10 and comes in different shades. The thing with tanners is, it takes practice! Don't expect a perfect tan the first few times you do it. Start with a light application so if you mess up, it won't look so bad. Make sure your legs are shaven and moisturized. Rub the tanner in well!! Wait about 30mins (it depends on the tanner) before dressing. And wash your hands!

Good luck!

Hi Lori,

If you are applying self tan to the whole of you, do so after your workout and a shower, so that you give it adequate time to 'take' (anywhere from 3 - 6 hours).

In my experience, once you are self tanned, sweating from a work out can definitely make the colour run into clothes (but did not make it run down my face), and I know this because I used to wear special white aerobic bras. To keep on top of this problem, wear dark coloured fitness gear :)7 ), and keep topping up your self tan and exfoliation regularly :)

BTW, a gel/liquid based self tan is better for an oilier skin, and a cream self tan is better for a dry skin type.

Hope this helps

Anna :)
