Another reason you shouldn't completely ditch cardio...

...because being fit, cardiovascularly, really helps you get through workouts like Butts and Gutts. I'm just getting back to serious working out (now that my work schedule has finally lightened up) and found I had to take A LOT of breaks while doing B&G tonight because my heart was beating so wildly out of control throughout. I'm still somewhat chubby so my primary focus will remain on weight training, for fat-burning, but it's become obvious that eliminating cardio entirely, at the expense of endurance, was a mistake. I'm going to try Cardio Coach now.

Yay, S!

Welcome to CC Land.

I thought I did cardio just for heart health and fun, because it doesnt seem to help me much with fat loss either. I too find weight training helps me to lose/keep off the fat. Good to know cardio benefits endurance.

Actually, the best and toughest fat fighter is to watch what I eat.

I'd like to add to that a variety of cardio.

I've been doing the NROLW and made it through the first 6 weeks. In between I've been running.

Last week and this week I'm taking a break and doing Aug 06 Bootcamp rotation and it's totally kickin my behind. I never used to be soooo tired. I think I'll make sure to get some Cathe cardio in every once in a while 'cuz I feel like 6 weeks without really changed my overall endurance.

just to make you feel a little better, I consider myself to be pretty fit cardiovascularly and B&G still makes my heart beat a mile a minute. It's one tough workout!

Oh thank God. I thought it was me. I'm in a 69-degree room, with two big fans pointed at me full blast, I drank about 54oz. of water.... I usually have a misting bottle full of cold water and was regretting not having it. I was overheating during the warm-up!

When I do B&G I feel like I'm going to keel over -- LOL!!! Actually, I should dig that out -- I haven't done it in ages!

I agree with you about the effects of weight training, too. I can do cardio all day long, but I don't notice visible changes in my body without the weights. Even in the absence of weight loss, weight training alone has helped me drop a size!

Another thing I've noticed is that weight training improves my endurance for cardio, especially on my elliptical. Stronger legs makes for more efficient use of the resistance settings. ;)
