Another Jari Love ?

I have RTTC & Slim & Lean. I wasn't planning on ordering Ripped 1000,
but when I was at Borders Books they had this DVD, so I couldn't resist the temptation and bought it. The DVD cover says is burns 1000 calories in this workout. My HRM doesn't have the calorie count feature (It's an older model). Does anybody that has and HRM w/ the calorie count ever tested out the claim of the 1000 calorie burn?

I'm planning on using this workout in my rotation tomorrow, so I'm really curious.

Hate to burst your bubble, but I have it and have only done it a couple of times. My calorie count was NOWHERE near 1000. I didn't even think the cardio portions were that tough. HOwever, last time I did it, I stepped up the intensity a bit and did not do the cooldowns she does after each cardio segment and kept jogging or whatever and I got a much better workout. Make sure you don't follow her weight selections either.....as she doesn't lift that heavy at all.

I think it's advertised as burning "up to 1000 calories" per workout, a nasty advertising ploy IMHO. (Although I have to say I like Jari a lot and I love the workout.) Maybe a 7 foot tall very muscular very heavy guy lifting massive amounts and doing every cardio exercise in a super-duper-plyo way might burn 1000 calories, but not us mere mortals :~)

If you're a little overweight and aren't used to exercising, I believe it is possible to burn that many. Again, that's the extreme. If you do Cathe all the time you won't burn that many calories. I have this workout and love it. I don't have a HRM but I do sweat buckets, and I'm thorougly cooked when I'm done.

Incidentally, if you're wondering about this claim why don't you e-mail and ask her what she means by the 1000 calorie burn? I've e-mailed her in the past and she always got back to me with an answer. I find her to be a class act.

I consider myself an advanced exerciser and I find the basic cardio alternated with the compound weight work quite challenging. I feel I stay in a nice fat burning zone and I sweat buckets with GR1000. I like it for something different from Cathe. It is a nice little sweatfest in my opinion. I have no idea about how many calories are burned. I don't really pay attention to that. I KNOW that I don't burn anywhere near 1000 calories in ANY workout I do. I enjoy the Ripped series for a change of pace.

I really like Jari's workouts (don't do them nearly as much as I should...I'm currently 100% Cathe!) Anyway according to my HRM I burn 475 calories with R1000. I'm 5'2" @ 115 lbs. Hope that helps!

I'm 5'7", 118 lbs and burn about 400 calories.

I just bought this one at Ross a few weeks ago for $5.99. What a deal! :D

I'm 5'3", 123 pounds and burned 546 calories. The cardio portions are short but intense and my heart rate really stayed up there although I did some of the cardio on an 8" step which really makes my heart rate soar. I got this at DeepDiscount for $6.17 when they had their sale. The cardio got a little boring for me since she repeated a lot of it but I still liked the workout. She has compound work in this workout as well which I like but Ripped to the Core is my favorite.

I think that the idea is to you burn UP TO 1000 calories. Of course, your actual calories burned are no where near this. it's just sneaky marketing. Still a decent workout though.

I just did this yesterday after not using for a while - a great workout! I continue lower end cardio during the (IMO) unnecessary stretching in between & definitely use an 8" step the entire wo. Even though it may seem light, I actually use the same wght for most (but, not all) exercises b/c of the fast pace.

Too bad the ab section is so short...

BTW - isn't she supposed to be coming out w/another DVD soon???

LOL! I agree.
Or a 300-pound, very out-of-shape person.
