Another IMAX 3 question!

Hi there. I want to add an IMAX to my collection becuase I LOVE IMAX 2. I'm not sure which one to get though. I was very scared of complex choreography prior to ordering the Intensity series but feel so great now that I finally "get" most of the combos. I believe the difficult combos are helping with a balance problem I have too. On the other hand, I do trip easily if there are quick spins involved like on Lomax. S far no injuries!
:)

I have really good things about the original IMAX and some scary things about IMAX 3. I'm sure they are both great choices but does anyone have an opinion about the two when compared to each other for someone who at times is chorography challened but willing to try? Also, IMAX 3 looks very high-impact. Is it any higher than the original or are they about the same? Thanks for any input!

Michelle

Hi Michelle! I just love IMAX 2 also! I'll just give you my opinions based on the questions that you asked, but I am sure that you will get lots of varied responses.

Imax 3 - Lots of fun and great music though like you said lots of impact. Also, the step combos are relatively complicated, but not undoable. If you have done Low Max I would think these combos should be pretty easy for you to get. If you get this DVD I would do the step only premix a couple of times just so you will know what is coming before you complete the video in its entirety.

Imax - Just did this one for the first time last night and the step combos are way less complicated than Imax 3. Also, the blasts were not as high impact as Imax 3, but still very intense. I really liked this one alot too. It is also kind of cool because in the blasts Cathe shows you different levels that you can do. So, if you need to modify you know what to do. The Imax DVD comes with Rhythmic Step (fun) and MIC (haven't attempted yet). So, you get more workouts per dollar spent.

Does this help at all?

Thanks Karin. It may be better to go with the original so that I get two additional workouts although I have MIC on tape and DREAD it! I don't know why it drives me crazy, it's a very good intense workout but I just dread it. I am really pleased with all of my other Cathe purchases and haven't worked out with anyone else since I got hooked.

In my opinion, the original Imax is the toughest (and the best) of the three. 'Floor' intevals are almost always tougher than 'on the step' intervals and the original Imax features several intervals (I'm talking about the 'blast' portions only) that don't use the step at all. I would say Imax 3 is the most high impact - merely because she has you jumping onto and off of the step quite a bit. Imax 2 isn't as intense as 1 or 3, but it's still very challenging and the music is great. I love all 3, and though the original Imax has no premixes, I think it's the best of the bunch.

Hi Michelle. IMAX 1 has more athletic choreography than IMAX 3. They are both tough workouts; tougher than IMAX 2. If you got Low Max choreography, you should be able to do IMAX 3. IMAX has less recovery time in between blasts than IMAX 3 so it does make it a little harder but IMAX 1 has some intense blasts, especially interval 10. I love IMAX 3. I think it is my favorite of the IMAXes. As far as value, I would go with Rhythmic Step +. I love Rhythmic Step. I dread MIC and I really like IMAX 1. I also love very dancy choreography. I'm sure you will be happy with either purchase.

I guess I'm the odd one out. I don't like the original IMax. I find it too repetitive. It feels like it's all Power 15's to me. I love IMax 3 because it's challenging, yet doable.

Hi Michelle-

I guess I am going to disagree with some of the other posts here. I have been doing Cathe for about 6-7 years and I would consider myself an advanced level exerciser.

I think IMAX 1 is easier than IMAX 2 and 2 is easier than 3. I just did 3 today and it always kicks my butt. Especially the 7th interval with all the jacks straddling the step.

IMAX 1 is very good and I like it but when I see it on my rotation schedule I don't have to psych myself up like i do for IMAX 3.

Those are just my thoughts. If I were you I think I would order IMAX1 because if you should find it too easy, you can increase your step height. For me it seems harder to make and easy work out harder than the other way around.

Again that's just me. Good luck.
