ankle....discomfort

I was wondering if any of you have experienced this. I did something to my ankle awhile back - not sure what. I have no pain now except when trying to balance on the foot of the ankle that hurts. Seems like the weight shifting to the outside to maintain balance causes more discomfort than actual pain. I also have trouble going flat footed in pilates on some of the exercises. And will experience discomfort when wearing a slight heel - but only sometimes. I have stopped running to try to let it rehab. The only cardio I am doing right now is spin.

I went to the dr who took an x-ray - all was fine. He is now sending me to an orthopedist. Just curious if anyone has been through something similar and what exactly it was.

I haven't experienced this, but it sounds like it could be a strained ligament or tendon. I have tendon issues elsewhere, and like you, I experience the pain only under certain circumstances.

Just a little heads-up - tendons and ligaments take FOREVER to heal. It sounds like you're on the right track. Don't overstress it! Take care.

I've had issues with my left ankle - pretty regularly in the past year. I think the main cause of my problem was my car. Up until a week ago, I had a stick shift and used my left foot to work the clutch. A year ago, we moved to a place closer to where I work and so I have been driving all city streets now instead of interstates, so I'd been using my clutch more. A few months after our move is when I started noticing more and more problems with my left ankle.

Last week, I bought a new car and now am back to an automatic transmission. Already, my left ankle is feeling better. It's amazing.

I do know that the bones of my left foot and ankle were not lining up properly - from the clutch work or not, I don't know. My chiropractor had to adjust my leg and foot, and that seemed to give me some relief for a week or two before it started acting up again.

Thanks for responding. I have a feeling it is a tendon/ligament thing and that I will need to be very good in order for it to heal properly.:-(

Guess I should have layed off when it happened. Hope the Dr. doesn't require to much time off.

i am in my 4th week of recovering from a torn tendon-below the big bone of my right foot on the right side. it hurt to do step or any jumping. an ex-ray will not show it. i had an MRI that clearlly showed the problem.a week with bandages,2 weeks cast,2 weeks boot with still no weight, another boot with some weight,2-3 mon pt. yuck!!!

I hope your recovery is almost over - I guess this is a little what I am afraid of - but just want to put it behind me.
