An Interesting Article

I personally have always questioned the validity of transformation photos used for the purpose of selling a workout program. I think most of them are bogus.

I always doubted them. I thought of hair, make up and posture but never considered lighting. How many people bought these because of those pictures and then failed to get those results? How many of these programs are tossed into the back of a closet and never used again. They are marketing these programs not to people who are in shape and want to be challenged but to people who are overweight and want to look like THAT. Plus they are raking in the money doing it.

could have sworn some of the same people are in different infomercials, sometimes several. agreed, bogus.

The other thing that bugs me is when you see someone hawking a product that looks like something they don't even use. It's like that person is just trying to make money on something that might work for others that put the time in, but they don't actually do it themselves.

My husband thinks all the women in the before and after are ones that recently had a baby. The before is just after delivery, which makes the after results so phenomenal.

I agree with a lot of what the article says...that people can manipulate to create illusion and we should strive for balance in our own fitness lives. However, as with everything, there has to be some genuine weight loss info out there as I see some pics of both men and women with too much change to account for lighting, etc.....

Also, I myself have dropped 25 pounds and counting...and that ain't no lighting and makeup folks! :D

Insider Information

Hello Ladies,
I have actually done a couple of infomercials and I know people who have done them also. The beauty product infomercial I did, I actually liked the product, however, I was selected to do it because I was blessed with good skin. My skin was not bad to begin with, so I cannot speak to whether or not it made your skin better.

Now the weight loss product I did. Oh boy! We all know that there is no way that you can get the results you see on an infomercial working out for only a few minutes a day. Yes, we did use the product for a few minutes a day, but it was during the hour long workout we did with the trainer they hired. Many of us also worked out on our own in addition to the time with the trainer. The product did have value, it was a great tool to help a beginner exerciser with their form, but to lose weight? No bueno! lol

Here is the kicker: One lady I met was actually the after picture. She revealed to us that they used a different model for the before picture. In the infomercial she did, they put her picture in a small box at the bottom of the screen so you couldn't really tell it was a whole new person.

I haven't seen either infomercial, however I have friends from all over the country who have. When they call and ask me about them, I tell them what my experiences were with the products. However, if buying this product helped somebody get up off the couch and finally start that exercise program they had been wanting to start, then maybe it was money well spent. I just hope they don't expect the results from the infomercial without making other changes as well.

WOW! Can't believe that they used a model! What a cool experience for you!

Wow, this article was very interesting. It's true, it's just another marketing tool to get you to buy the product (I've fallen into that trap!!) with those "transformations". The best transformations are the ones that are submitted in Cathe's newsletters - those are for real!!
