Amy's kickbos Surge

Amy Bento

Not to change the subject from kickboxing, but I notice that she has two kettlebell dvd's, too -KB Dynamics and 3-in-1. Has anyone done those and have an opinion? (the kickbox dvds are absolutely a choice as well, just figured while I'm there.... well, you know :))

I don't have this, but I know there are others here that do. Maybe someone will see it and comment.

I did this one today and everytime I do it I just love it more. It's just so much fun. I wished she would make more workouts like this that don't make my head spin so much. Too much complexity is not a good thing for me especially when I get home from work and have to figure all these moves out. I think I would buy more of her workouts if it was less mind boggling.

I sing to the songs while I do this workout. I'm sure I look and sound silly but I don't care, it's so much fun:D:cool:

Ellejay, there are several reviews for the kettlebell workout on the VF.
I don't have that one because it's for a more advanced kettlebeller(is that a word:p). I'm a beginner.

I like Amy, and comments here convinced me to buy the video

I like Amy Bento. She cuts against the grain of a typical exercize leader. She is not "dainty" -- and just looking at her one realizes they're in for a tough workout.

Cathe won me over kickbox videos. She introduced a more high-impact version to the older, low-impact kickbox dvds (these I did not like). So on the basis of the recommendations on this thread, I will order Amy's new video.

I just wanted to bring in my first review of Kickbox Surge & Core Training. I FINALLY got a chance try it out this morning. I knew, since I don't know Amy's style, that it may take me more than one try so I went into it with that attitude! :D I struggled on the first combo, so I did it a second time and then a 3rd time! LOL The same with the second combo. So I ended up doing Combo & Surge #1, 3 times and Combo & Surge #2, 2 times. Then the core section, cool down and stretch. I LOVED IT!!!!! I picked up combo 2 much quicker than the first and I was sweaty MESS when I was done. HRM said I burned over 520 calories!

Now, my opinion....it was a nice change from Cathe's KB, which I LOVE. I was just getting tired of rotating the same KB workouts week in and week out. Amy's style is athletic, exciting and dynamic. I LOVED the energy in the combos/surges that I did. LOVED the core work, too, because it was totally different. It reminded me of Tracey Staehle's ab work because it includes standing, lunging, rotating and planks. I will DEFINITELY pull this one out again in a few days and work on the other 3 combos/surges, and work my way into doing the whole workout as produced!

I give it 2 THUMBS UP!!!! Thanks for the recommendation, everybody!

Gayle

p.s. This workout made me want to pull out Slo Mo Challenge for next week! :D

Hi -

On the recommendation of everybody on this forum, I got this workout. This was the first time I ever tried Amy Bento too.

LOVED it!!! It was very fun, and while I struggled a bit learning the combos at first, it came together pretty well.. I can't wait to do this a few more times so that I can really focus on the moves instead of trying to follow them. It was fun, original, and she is a really good instructor to watch.

This is big in my world... I've only deviated from Cathe for P90x in the last decade, so to find somebody I liked is awesome.

I also got the Hi/Lo workout which I'm can't wait to try to based on all of your recommendations.

Thanks again!! Lynn M.

Lynn, I agree...this is BIG for me too! I've tried a few others also but always end up leaving them at the far end of my shelf and pulling out my Cathe DVDs. So BIG BIG BIG for me too! YAY!

La, la, la.... I'm not listening to this enablers!!! Seriously, it looks like a good workout. I might have to give it a try.
