American Idol Back On Track!

I agree, Idol was MUCH better last night. However, when Sanjaya started singing, my husband and I looked at each other and started laughing hysterically. What is he still doing there?? And that girl crying...gimme a break, she was worse than Paula! I still haven't figured out who I think will win. I think Melinda has the best voice, but there's so much more to it than a good voice, unfortunately. I'm still dumbfounded that Taylor won last year. Either way, I love the show.

Yes, I agree that the show was much better last night. And, even though, Gina was "pitchy", I still think she's adorable. In fact, we liked everyone last night... even Sanjaya.

Have to admit, though, that the crying girl kinda freaked me out... or rather, the fact that the camera person wouldn't leave her alone.

They definitely were better as a whole last night than previously.

The girl crying when Sanjaya was singing reminded me of films I've seen of Beatlemania, or Elvis concerts, where girls would cry, and scream, and even faint!

I do think Hayly(sp?), Sanjaya and the bald guy should be in the bottom 3. But I'm not sure who should go. I actually think Sanjaya made some progress---he's finally projecting his voice(but may have gone a bit too far!).

I thought Lakisha sang wonderfully, but didn't sound like an American Idol (ie: someone whose songs you listen to on the radio). She seemed very old-fashioned and not current.

(And does anyone else wonder if Melinda has a neck?)

We were impressed too Janie! I couldn't believe how much EVERYONE improved this week, even Sanjaya. (I know young gals are keeping him on the show!) I think Melinda Dolittle will take the whole thing. She really is talented and I love her "niceness". Great show last nite!

LOL... I think that's probably the main reason my DD doesn't care for her... she can't get beyond the "looks" thing, including the neck, or lack thereof.

DH and I both commented on that last night. I wish the stylists (I assume they have stylists) would help her choose tops that made her neck look a little longer. I thought the dresses she wore in past episodes did that for her. They made her look taller, too.

Sanjaya's performance was...well...just kind of disturbing overall. Not to mention that he looked like a deranged hybrid of Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson. It's too bad, because he seems like a nice kid...

I really hope that Phil Stacy goes. He does nothing for me and he's just that good of a singer. At least Sanjaya is entertaining.

Yes, last night was much more entertaining. They brought their game tonight. I think Blake, Chris R., Melinda, & Jordin were the best. The bottom 3 should be Phil, Sanjaya, & Haley as stated. There's just something about that Sanjaya. He did bring it much more last night. He might just stay and entertain us yet. I think Phil is just kind of blah with Haley not far behind. My bet is on Phil. That girl crying. Oh. my. goodness. Just a tad over the top there. Whew.

No one likes Sanjaya? Even FIL left the room when he came on. I thought he rocked the house! He was good. I wonder if he took something though to make himself feel so much more comfortable...didn't seem like his usual quiet self at all...hmmm.

Haly is trying to get the votes thru manipulation of the sexual lust kind. Interesting, but I think she still stinks. Not that good.

I left the room when Chris Sligh came on. He just hurts my eyes. Sorry.

Phil is not all that either.

Anyone notice how much Simon detested the other English Chap?}(

Paula still never seems to say what she is REALLY thinking. Fake..fake..fake. Candy coats stuff too much. Needs to be more like Simon.

I just had to add my 2cents here! I thought the little girl was so adorable :) :) I was almost in tears looking at her. I was so happy when the host noticed her and asked Sanjaya to give her a great big hug. She’ll remember that for life :) :)

Char- That English Chap was Peter Noone from the group "Hermans Hermits". I used to listen to them all the time when I was a kid. First group that I used the hair brush as a mic and pretended to be a Rock Star. LOL!

I thought the preformances last night finally might make this a decent season. I still don't have a favorite. I'm also interested to see how far Sanjaya can go. He actually did pretty good. The little pathetic girl looked staged. I didn't buy it. Maybe if they didn't focus so much on her, it might have seemed more real.

“The little girl crying was a special touch”.

"Have to admit, though, that the crying girl kinda freaked me out..."

“And that girl crying...gimme a break”

“girl crying when Sanjaya was singing reminded me of films I've seen of Beatlemania”

“That girl crying. Oh. my. goodness. Just a tad over the top there. Whew.”

“I just loved her!! Soooooo cute!!!”

“my 2cents here! I thought the little girl was so adorable”

I think she was a plant in the audience, back in the day the Beatles Rolling Stones etc.. would pay people to cry, screem or whatever to get people excited about the singer. (Sitting near the front - at the end of the row of seats - too phony) (Normally a young girl would have freaked out to be spot-lighted crying on TV.) (Looking right at the camera - working it, come on.....)

Sanjaya seems like a nice kid but he just isn't that good.

I noticed that the little girl was crying when Melinda sang, but didn't get the camera time like she did when Sanjaya sang. Hmmmm.....

Last nights show was a hit. They all "brought" it! Great entertainment. The little girl was over the top in my opinion and at one point, I thought it looked like she was trying too hard to make the tears come. Of course, I could be very wrong, as I've been wrong many times before!

I loved last night's show too!!! I was really impressed w/ Lulu.. She seemed like she genuinely cared about the kids and how they would perform. I thought her advice was pretty relevant as well.

Loved loved Blake last night. I always look forward to what he is going to do and most of the time really enjoy what he comes up with. He's very creative and my current favorite.

Lakisha was good, but I think she should have gone w/ the other song that Lulu suggested, Diamonds are Forever was a poor choice. She does much better doing Motown stuff, or something where she shows a bit of vulnerability..not a seduction-like siren type of song.

Sanjaya reminded me of when a 14 year old raids his parent's liquor cabinet and then sings karoake.. it was funny!!

I just didn't dig that Diamonds song. Even though Kiki is a good singer. I can't say that I was totally down with Mindy Doo's song either, but her vocals seemed stronger.

Blake is the shiznit. He can come beatbox at any of my parties. lol.

Stephanie was just yuck last night. You could barely hear Sligh. Vocals seemed weak. I do enjoy a good rocker chick, but I agreed Gina was off. Much better doing Evanescence. Haley just isn't a good singer, and doesn't have much personality oomph factor. Almost flashing your bewbies doesn't count. I give more props to Sanjaya for stepping out of his comfort zone even though he doesn't compare to some of the others.

Who goes home remains to be seen...mwahahaha.

Anyone else getting tired of Randy's seemingly limited vocabular, "dawg"? He seems to have about 5 expressions that he uses over, and over, and over. Almost like he's trying too hard to be cool.

And Paula always playing 'you look great'/'that's a beautiful dress' card when she doesn't have much else nice to say.
