Am I a workout addict?

I usually work out just about every day -- on the 7th I'll do Yoga or something more relaxing. Well, I've been so sick with a horrible sinus infection and am on strong antibiotics that put me in lala land, so I haven't been working out for a couple days now. I'm literally chomping at the bit to work out! I even feel slightly guilty even though I'm sick. Does anyone else get like this???x(

YES!!!! All the time. Just remember your body needs to rest to fix itself, and you will come back from your illness rearing to go. I don't think you are an addict. But i'm right there with ya, so....

WEll, dont worry about it. Take care of yourself!! -Tina

I get like that, too! Some call it an addiction, I call it a lifestyle. Just like most people would be miserable going a day without a shower or brushing their teeth, we can't tolerate missing a workout. Not to mention the lovely endorphins from exercise...now those are ADDICTIVE!!!! My drug of choice!;)

I totally agree about the endorphins. I become a bear if I don't get my exercise. I'm okay with one rest day a week but more than that and my husband begs me to go workout. I can't understand why some people don't exercise. Human bodies are made to move!
I think it's only bad if you workout to the point of anorexia...i.e. workout for an hour because you had a bite of chocolate. If you workout because you love it then that's a good thing!

Well, if you're an addict, then you better sign me up for the twelve step program too! Because I'm exactly the same way.

Oh, no...I guess I'm not an addict..:( I take a rest day at least once a week. By taking these rest days I find my workout days are so much better and much more powerful. I do hope you get better.

Yeah I get like this when I can't work out. I don't think it has anything to do w/addiction. I think it's b/c I really enjoy working out, so when I can't I miss it. It's like during the summer when it rains for a week & I can't wait to get back to the beach. I'm not addicted to the beach, I just miss it when I can't go.

That sums it up nicely for me. I love my workouts and I don't track my calories or food intake. I will say I don't mind being considered addicted to exercise. I am not, however, a junkie - someone who would exercise even when it's detrimental to one's health (be it illness or injury).

...ditto for me!

I blow off a lot of my stress and do some of my best problem solving when working out hard and most definitley feel it if I've missed a couple. I can just picture those lovely endorphins eating up nasty stress hormones like pac man! I've tried a few other addictions but thankfully this is the one that stuck;-)

Feel better SOON!:D

Take Care
