Alpha Omega Check-In (September)

Praise the Lord for the rain Cathy. It must be wonderful to finally get rain :)

Wow, you are almost done with STS already. That really went fast, at least for me, lol. You probably don't think so.

Christine, 9/11 left such an impact on our minds. Especially with being soo close to the area. I think that had to be the saddest event to my recollection. Soo many casualties, and the stories never seemed to end. Even now, there are always stories to be heard. It's nice that you & your grandma have been keeping each other company :) How are you feeling today?

About Cathe's older workouts. I'm finding it a little hard to get pass the workout outfits, lol. They definitely are much slower paced than her more recent ones. Personally, I struggle with step choreography, so the older ones do seem a lot easier to follow, but I was finding myself doing my own thing on the slightest choroeographed steps, which is why I decided to cut the workout short. I have days where I can pop in a step w/o and follow it along great, and other times, I have no idea what side of the step I'm supposed to be at, lol. I definitely am spoiled by kick boxing workouts, they are just soo much easier to follow.

Push 3 went well today. I think it was the easiest to get through of the Push workouts. I guess because my back and chest are my strongest muscles. I don't realize how much I am working my legs, till I get on the floor to do ab work. I can't believe how my legs fatigue when I try to keep them up. It's a good thing, I am really amazed by the definition in my legs from CLX. So, I made in through my first week of Push. It's serious work, even without the compound moves, because you don't get that break between upper & lower body, but I think I'll like it better next week. The first week is always the toughest to get through.

My daughter's soccer opening ceremony is supposed to be tomorrow at 10:15, with her first game at 3PM, but it's raining lots here, so it looks like it will be the rain date of sunday.

Have a great night ladies.

Hello Everyone,

It's another rainy day here. My daughter's soccer opening day was postponed until tomorrow, and the game will be rescheduled, hopefully not for this Wednesday because she has a doctor's appt. that day.

I've been having a tough couple days. Anxiety attacks are really getting to me. Yesterday I had to resort to taking a 1/2 Xanas pill, which I haven't taking 2 months. I am trying not to have to take medication, but I just couldn't deal with it yesterday. I am trying to manage better today.

My workout today was CLX Burn Intervals. It was perfect for today. Hopefully my Biceps & Triceps will be able to perform some more tomorrow, lol. I have to do Monday's workout tomorrow. Monday will be my rest day.

Christine, are you feeling better?

Jen, how's it going?

Hello Cathy. Are you ready to complete STS? i'm sure you will be glad to see it concluded, lol. I give you credit for repeating STS soo soon. I still can't believe some people are doing a 6 month rotation. I would go out of my mind. 3 Months is doable, but 6 months, I don't know, lol.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend ladies.

Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)

Iris, I hope you find some comfort in this scripture! How are you doing? What do you think is causing yu so much anxiety? I'm worried about you! I will keep this in prayer! I'm glad you had a great workout today.

I still felt kind of blah today, so I didn't do too much. I tried vacuuming because it's been a while, but then I felt dizzy so I sat back down for a while. We watched that animated movie "Bolt", it was really cute!

Jen, how are you doing? We haven't heard from you in a few days!

Cathy, hope you are doing well.

No workouts today. Have a great night ladies.

Hello Everyone,

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. I've been busy running around today. I was able to go to church this morning for the worship part of the service, but had to leave before the sermon to get my son to work on time. I am also busy cooking a dish for my cousin. She's throwing a farewell party for her son who's going to the Army this week, and asked if I could help her out with a dish. This is my cousin who's daughter is battling leukemia, so I'm happy to help where I can, but I'm not feeling in a party mood, so hope to just drop this Baked Ziti off, and head back home.

I started the 2nd week of CLX - Push phase today. It was Biceps/Triceps and Lower body work. I was able to lift 16's for Bicep & Hammer Curls. Very slow reps. Managed 7. Reminding myself that she follows these up with 3 Extreme (Super Slow Reps) after only a 10 second break. I actually take a little longer than that, lol. I was in the mood for a little cardio after that, and since I haven't used my heavy bag in a while, I did Real Kickboxing #2. I love kicking and punching the bag.

This week will be crazy for me, at least from Monday - Wednesday. I have to get my son to a doctor's appt. tomorrow, and then get myself to my own doctor's appt. by 6:30PM. Plus my daughter has her first soccer game at 7PM, which I'm hoping she can get a ride with a friend. I hate when that happens. Tuesday, she has another 7PM game and Wednesday is her Ent. appt. at 6PM. I'm exhausted thinking about this schedule, but I'm sure I'll get through it, as I always do :)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend ladies :)

Hello Iris, Christine, and Cathy.
Been busy with lots of stuff as usual. Prayers are needed for future employment and for my current one, lots of changes are going on. Went to Ann Arbor to get out of the house for a few hours today to scout around.
Hope you all have a Blessed night,

Jen

iris, i know what ya mean about the outfits in the old ones. i just can't seem to get past them. i don't do them often, because of that. kind of like the old firms. don't like them at all anymore. i much prefer from bss1 and forward from there. and, YES, i am so ready to be done. i didn't feel like this the first time. i did not even finish this week. i still have one disc to do on wk 3. i had another meltdown yesterday. laid on the couch all day. just too tired to do anything. so, gonna try and do disc 33 tomorrow, then finish up wk 4. i am REALLY tired. i feel better tonite. was gonna try to do d33 today, but didn't have time. so, i feel rested. hopefully i can finish up this week.

a friend of mine has PX90 , and i was thinking about borrowing it. what do ya'll think of it? is it as hard as STS? and, how much of a break should i take if i decide to do it?
anyway, that is my life. just, go,go,go all the time it seems. i have not had time to even read anything on here this week, so, gotta try to catch up sometime.

Hi Jen & Cathy. It's good to hear from you both :)

Jen, I'm praying for you. You seem to have a lot going on.

Cathy, it really sounds like you're experiencing burn-out. I get like that once in a while when I'm burned out from working out, and it's not a good feeling at all. As far as P90, that is actually the first 3 month rotation I ever did. If you are going to do it, I would say, give yourself at least a month to recover from STS, if not longer. I wasn't particularly crazy about P90 because there were a million push-ups to get through. Not my thing, but I got pretty good at getting through them. Also, they do tons of chin-ups, which you can opt to modify with tubing. I actually did modify with tubing, but of course I didn't get the same results I may have gotten with real old fashion chin-ups. I don't feel drawn to doing another P90 rotation and it's been over a year since I completed it, so I definitely did not find it to be a fun type of rotation. Although, I must say, maybe it's me, but the 3 months did go by pretty quickly once I got started with it. I am currently doing CLX, which is another Beach Body product, and I like CLX better than P90. The workouts are short, which allow you enough time to tack on something else if I want to.

I hope you catch a break to rest up soon :)

Hello Christine, I hope you are feeling better today? How's your grandma feeling?

I have another crazy day ahead of me today. After work, doctor appts. for my son's allergy shot, and then mine right after. Don't know how I'll make it on time for mine. My daughter has a soccer game at 7PM. She's going with a teammate to the game, and I hope to get there before it ends to pick her up. Crazy, crazy. I hope to get to the gym tomorrow for the KB class before my daughter's 2nd game at 7PM.

Have a great day everyone.

"God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin." (1 John 1:6-7)

Cathy, you definitely need a break. I know you like to "go, go, go", but I have a bad feeling that something is going to stop you, if you don't make the choice to give yourself a much needed break. Doesn't it make you miserable to feel so burned out all the time? I'm not trying to sound harsh, but I am genuinely concerned about you.

Iris, wow you do have a busy day! How are you feeling with your anxiety? Are you doing Push 1 tonight? I am still feeling a little under the weather, but I am feeling better. My grandma is doing great, thank God! I just hope she continues this way. She is here right now watching "People's Court". :p

Jen, it's good to hear from you! I'm keeping you in prayer!

I have to catch up on cleaning today, I haven't gotten much done since being sick. We are getting our driveway sealed today so I'm pretty much stuck in the house anyway. I plan on doing one of Jari's workouts later on today.

Have a great day ladies!

iris, i am definitely gonna give myself recovery time. i don't plan on doing any really intense, heavy stuff til after christmas. i'm really exhausted. i'm gonna take a week off, and look for a cardio based rotation. well, will probably finish up sept. w/cardio and then see what is posted on here and at the firm for october.

yes, christine, i hate feeling exhausted all the time, but i just figure it is part of life. i did rest this weekend. i had too, my body shut down. actually, i made an appt. today to see a specialist dr. she is about my age and she works out, so hopefully she will be able to help me see what i need to change in my life as far as my workouts and stuff. most drs. don't have a clue about working out, so i'm thankful i found her. a friend who is a nurse know this dr. and gave me her name. i don't see her til nov. though, so, i have plenty of time to track how i feel til then.
thanks for your concern. but, i have felt this way for so long, i just take it as normal.

http://sportsmedicine.about.com/cs/overtraining/a/aa062499a.htm

i just read this and it sounds like me, but i just don't understand, cuz i take my rest days and stuff and i don't work out nearly as hard as some of the ladies on here. i can't complete a cathe rotation to save my life. so , i didn't think i was overtraining, but maybe i am.

but, i did complete wk 3 d33 today, and i'm gonna finish up this week and rest. no STS for me for awhile.

Today was a rest day for me. My doctor appt. went well. Blood pressure is normal with the medication, but I have to go for blood work again to see where my blood count is. Hopefully it's come up a bit with the iron pills I've been taking.

My daughter's game was cancelled again today, which was kind of good in a way, since I wasn't going to be able to make it. We still don't know about tomorrow's game. Apparently, they haven't been able to get the lighting in place. My town treats soccer sport as an afterthought, unfortunately.

Cathy, thanks for sharing that link. I've read about burnout, but each time I read about it, I see myself in some of the symptoms. Sometimes we don't even realize what's too much for our bodies. I never worked out when I was younger, so it's not like I have anything to compare with. I do know that we have to realize some of the people on fitness forums, like this one, workout very aggressively. It can give us a false impression that we should be able to work as hard, or close to. Unfortunately, that is a misconception and a bad one for us. When I was doing STS, I started out posting my workouts on the STS thread, but then I realized that I was pushing myself harder, or feeling bad about myself because I wasn't lifting as heavy as many of the women. We are our own worse enemy sometimes. No one is judging what we're doing, or looking at us like wimps, but I know for myself, I tend to do that to myself. While places like this can be very motivating, when we need motivation, we also need to watch that we're not guiding our workouts by what others are doing or how hard they are pushing. I hope this makes sense to you. I'm basically just suggesting that you need to listen to your body. You should really be resting before your body crashes, but when it's too late and you've already crashed, then you definitely need to lighten up your workouts. I know you see the light at the end of the tunnel, since this is your last week of STS, but please be careful. I injured myself just 1 workout video short of completing STS. I just kept ignoring the pain in my shoulder because I was soo close the end, but when the pain set in, believe me, I regretted pushing myself soo hard :)

Christine, thanks for the scripture verse today. It really spoke to my heart. I hope you're feeling better today. I was cringing at the doctor's office today. There were a few people coughing away, one woman sitting right next to me sounded like she had bronchitis, and I found myself a little annoyed that she had to sit right next to me. I know that sounds bad, but there were soo many empty seats, and she chooses the one right next to me, lol.

Hi Jen. How was your work day?

Have a great night everyone :)

yep, i agree with ya, iris. i am bad about trying to keep up. pretty dumb, huh? well, my old body just shuts down on me now, and i have to stop, cuz it won't do anything else. it didn't use to be that way, but as i age, it is. i guess it is from age, or overtraining, or both. not sure. but, it is a drag, that is for sure.

"Even though I was once a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent man, I was shown mercy because I acted in ignorance and unbelief. The grace of our Lord was poured out on me abundantly, along with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus." (1 Timothy 1:13-14)

Jen, was it a planned vacation or did you just need some time off? I hope you are doing okay and enjoying your time off!

Cathy, thanks for that link on overtraining! I have been there before and it feels awful! Don't feel bad, I can't complete a Cathe rotation to save my life either!! I don't know how anyone does it. Not only can I NOT workout 6x per week (not that there's anything wrong with it, I just can't do it), but I couldn't handle 6 days straight of Cathe's intense stuff. Once in my life I did one of her rotations and I was FRYED by the end! I started dreading my workouts, and I never felt that way before. I'm so glad you found that doctor! Please ease up on the intensity until them and get some much needed rest! I'll be praying for you! :)

Iris, I couldn't have said this better myself!!

I've been there too! This is really an area that I need to give over to God time and time again, because it can really become obsessive and damaging instead of helpful!

How was your workout tonight?

Yesterday I did Ripped & Chiseled. Today I had a bunch of stuff to do so I didn't workout. I went to the doctor and he thinks I may have allergies, so we'll see. I am feeling better though.

Have a blessed night!

Hello Ladies,

Workout was a little rushed today. The instructor had to cut class short to attend Back to School Night, so she taught a 45 minute class instead of an hour. It was a good class, but I didn't feel like I burned enough calories.

Cathy, how are you feeling today?

Jen, I hope you enjoyed your days off, assuming you meant this Monday & Tuesday, lol.

Christine, I had a feeling you might have allergies. Sometimes those allergies can really feel like a bad cold. I'm glad you're feeling better though :)

Good night all.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything." (James 1:2-4)

Iris, I meant to say I'm glad your doctor's appointment went well! Do you have high blood presssure? Mine is naturally very low. I'm glad your meds are working! :) That was nice of the instructor to do at least 45 minutes of cardio. What do you have planned tonight, Push? I'm hoping it is just allergies. I wasn't actually tested for them, but he said I will know for sure if it's allergies if I feel better after the first frost. In the meantime I'll be taking my Clariton!

Hellos Jen & Cathy, hope you are both well!

Today's workout was Jari's Ripped 1000. WOW, this one was tough! I liked it even though I was still sore from doing Ripped & Chiseled on Monday. I may take my dog for a walk later, we'll see how the day goes.

Have a blessed day!

Hello, I thought I'd check in with you guys, just in case I'm unable to check in tonight. I have my daughter's doctor appt. this evening, and I hope to get home and do Push 2. I was tempted to do Push 2 yesterday when I got home from the gym, but I knew I was more tired than I actually felt, and it would not be a good idea.

Christine, I've been meaning to ask you if you still have the kittie? Ripped 1000 is pretty intense, but for some reason, I didn't feel the weight work was as effective as some of Jari's other workouts. But the cardio in it is good. I especially like that it uses step, but the drills are very basic. I love non-fancy step work, lol.

Hello Cathy & Jen :)

Hi Iris!
How did your daughter's appointment go?

Yes, we still have the kitty! We named her Marbles (because her coloring looks like a marble loaf :)) and it looks like we are keeping her! My hubby said we could keep her the other night. It's all because she's been sleeping curled up on his chest while she's purring away. He's a sucker for really loveable animals. :) I told him I taught her to kiss up to him so he would fall for her, LOL.

I still think Ripped & Chiseled is her toughest for weight work, but I did find the weight work in Ripped 1000 pretty tough too. I think it's because I was already sore and the moves were compound. I really liked all the push-ups, it reminded me of Cathe's Gym Styles push-up drop set.

Enjoy Push2 tonight! :)

Hellos again to Cathy & Jen!

Push 2 today it was, and 5 minutes of Ab Extreme. I was able to up my weights a bit, but I'm realizing that I shouldn't be overzealous with the shoulder work, I really need to be careful with my shoulders, especially with what I went through with STS.

Christine, I knew you would end up keeping the kitty, lol. How could you not. Pets are soo easy to fall in love with. I am definitely wanting to do Ripped & Chiseled again, I may do it during my next CLX recovery week.

Well, my daughter's doctor appt. didn't go as good as I had hoped. Good to me would be for the doctor to tell me, oh it's nothing to worry about. He didn't say that. He did say that if he had to guess, he would think the cause is her last ear piercing. He checked the rest of the glands on her neck, and didn't find anything else of concern. He said, it could be a lymphoma, but because she doesn't have any other symptoms, such as night sweats, rapid weight loss, extreme fatigue, he doesn't think it's anything serious. However, he's going to see her again in 4 months. He took notes on the size and location of the lymph nodes, and we'll see if they grow, or what happens by then. In the meantime, he told Jalyn to check them now and then, just to make sure they're not getting bigger, and if more swollen nodes start appearing, we're to contact him sooner. So, please if you would keep Jalyn in your prayers, I would really appreciate it. My husband never gets concerned about anything, so he's at peace, but I worry about everything, and J is my baby, so it's hard for me not to worry.

Oh Christine, and the doctor found she has allergies. He could see the little buds in her throat, so he gave us some samples to try out. Hopefully they will help her. She was just telling me earlier today, that her throat was starting to hurt. I guess it's due to allergies.

Good night ladies.

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." (1 Peter 2:9)

Iris, that's a good idea to go easy on your shoulder. Were you too tired to finish Abs, or you just ran out of time?

I'm sorry that your daughter's appointment didn't go as well as you had hoped. Hopefully her glands will shrink back on their own over time. My doctor also told me, when I mentioned my swollen glands to him, that they watch swollen glands over the course of 2 months, and if they remain a certain size or bigger (2 centimeters is what he told me) for that long, then they test for lymphoma. It's good that she's not having any other symptoms though. Maybe it is just a reaction to the piercing. Is you husband a Christian too? His peace in all circumstances could be from his faith! My husband is the same way. It used to drive me crazy like why am I the only one worrying, but now I realize it's a gift and I find strength and encouragement in his faithful peace!

Yes, animals are very east to fall in love with!! :) She is asleep in my lap right now as I type!

Jen, how are you doing? Is everything okay?

Cathy, hope you are getting the rest you need!

Today's workout was Turbo Jam Punch Kick & Jam. I skipped the toning segment and went straight to Slim & Limber for a good stretch. I know I say this all the time, but I just love those TJ workouts!! I am going to have to give CP3 another try sometime for something new.

Have a blessed day everyone!
