Hi all,

Greetings from Sin City!}( I am still doing rehab for my hip-I had recent hip replacement surgery. I talked to my doctor and he told me I really should give up the high impact stuff, so I am sitting here wondering which collection of Cathe videos are the best low impact, still hard, but low impact? I already have LIC...I know alot of you have her workouts memorized, so could someone list the ones they feel would fit into this criteria?
You could also recommend other instructors too if you can. I am sad, and will miss my PlyoX, but living pain free is so worth it!:7 Thanks for all of your help everyone.
Oh, and how would you modify moves like jumping jacks and the jumps she does in Drill Max. I do have some ideas, but would love to hear what you all think.

Some lower-impact suggestions:
KPC (easy to modify to low impact, but I'm not sure how your hip will take to kickboxing), Low Max (though there are some transitions from side to back of the step that can produce knee--and hip?--torque if you don't do them very mindfully). Of course, all the weight workouts are no-impact.

As for modifying jumping jacks, just do alternating legs to the sides, or alternating squats to the side. You could also do side or back lunges into knee-ups. For jumps, do squats, or power knee ups (knee smashes), depending on what fits best.

I just picked up Low Impact Step and Kickmax, which has a whole 58 (?)minute low impact premix. These might work for you!

Thanks guys, I knew someone would have some great suggestions!:7 Kathyrn, I know I can count on you especially, you are a book of Cathe and workout knowledge!:)

i am also unable to do step. today i am going to try doing StepBlast with no step! same thing with lowmax or anything else.i also do floor aerobics like the first half of mic and kb.

I also have hip problems and have to do low impact. I like to do the KPC/LG circuit premixes and I just modify during the combos by not doing any jump kicks. But you do have to be careful with KPC and be mindful of your movements just like the other person mentioned. Also I'm loving LIC right now! I did it on 6" step today for the first time in 6 months and it felt great! And with Lo Max I usually skip step combo 3 and 6, for some reason they really bother my hip. Good Luck!

I'm so grateful to have all the wonderful, informative people on this forum! I hurt my calf (just behind and slightly beneath my knee) doing one of Cathe's step routines (my fault, I was working out too much and over-did-it). Now I'm going CRAZY waiting for this injury to heal. After a week of no cardio I feel that I'm ready to try something low impact. I have KPC and Kick Max (adapted for low impact) on my agenda for this week. I own LIC but I'm afraid to use the step (this is ALWAYS how I hurt myself)and I don't own the other workouts mentioned. Does anyone have any additional suggestions to add regarding the best low impact workouts?
Thanks!
Andrea

Hello,

You could also try Christy Taylor. I have one of her videos, can't remember the name but it has 4 workouts 2 step and 2 floor aerobics. I found Christy to be quite low impact and less jumping than Cathe's. I use them for days when I don't have the energy.

I think the one Yen's referring to is Christy's Fantastic Four which has Step Heaven, Hi/Lo Heaven, Still Jumpin' and Still Steppin'. They are lots of fun and Christy is great at cueing. She's a little more complex than Cathe but a little less impact.
