This dvd intrigues me. I am considering purchasing it but was looking for reviews on it first. I have absolutely no experience with this instructor.

Thanks!:)

Wendy, I have this workout and absolutely love it - if it's the one I am thinking of. Is Kathy Smith in it? Michael Olajide, Jr. is the real deal, a bonafied boxer and this workout is tough. If the one you are talking about has Kathy, it is very circuit-esque in that there are 3 jump rope sections with neat jumping variations, a few Stick and Move sections and some shadow boxing and they are mixed together. I haven't done it in a long time, but IIRC the I liked the music and his form is simply perfection - it is like watching a dancer, he's beautiful and fluid. It isn't anything like Tae Bo or even like what Cathe does, it feels like real boxing and he is serious but motivating.

HTH!

I have been thinking about this DVD as well since I really enjoy Cathe's boxing & heavy bag workouts. I recently purchased his AeroJump Sculpt thinking how tough could jumping rope be. Well, HELLO! I made it through the first few intervals then had to finish without the jump rope as I kept tripping up on it:confused:

Don't feel badly. I have no endurance for jump rope at all. My calves can not take it. I can do the short bursts in Cathe's work outs, etc but anything longer then that and the pain/cramping sets in. I can barely make it through the calf raises in Cathe's work outs too.

No I don't think Kathy Smith is in this one but I'm happy to hear that you liked him as an instructor! That definitely helps! :)

I have C.T.B.S with Michael and it rocks! It is very good cardio right up there with Insanity. The one with Cathy Smith is older and you can view it on Collage's site. In this one you do a set of jumping and then a weighted move either with a stick or dumbells and it is right around 1 hr. I think there are eight intervals.

LOL!! For me it wasn't the endurance....I just couldn't get my feet to do one thing while my arms were twirling the rope:confused: Kinda like the rubbing my tummy and patting my head at the same time! He has you doing shuffles, jacks, jumping forward & back, high knees, figure eights, doubles etc..

If you decide to get the boxing dvd, let us know what you think after trying it.

Judi,

I can see where the coordination factor could create a problem for me too! :p LOL
I made up my mind. I am ordering the boxing dvd. I will be sure and let you know what I think after I've tried it! :D

I like what I am hearing about this guy! I think I am gonna have to place my order soon!

Thank You!

He is deffinitely all boxer! Has excellent form and the workouts are hard esp if you use the jump rope. One thing I noticed though, . . he sometimes forgets to do the same number of exercises on one side of the body. His DVD's have a narrative filming way to them. You just hear a voice over throughout the whole workout so you don't hear the whoo hoo's of the group.

For the uncoordinated, you could always use one of those jump ropes without the rope, just the handles. It would have the same jumping effect, without having to get the handle turning down pat and get all twisted up, etc.

I just got Cardio Knockout with Cathy and Michael. I enjoyed it. The jump rope section is crazy!!! I didn't realize how fast they were moving those ropes until I tried it myself. Needless to say, I won't do it with the rope. I can do it twirling the rope with one hand, but when I switch to two hands, everything falls apart. LOL.

One thing that impressed me in this workout was Michael's speed...man, are his punches and foot movements fast. Wow.

Can you believe I was going to do the Aerobox(with Kathy) tape (I had it since it first came out years ago) on Saturday and my VCR ate it?

I love all his dvd's and I can do c.t.b.s. the whole way through. It still burns but it has gotten easier. Anyone having a hard time with jumping rope do not give up, it is great for the legs, your bone strength and your endurance. Go a little longer each time, just make sure the kids are out of the room 'cause you will be cursing up a storm - I know I did.

Anyway, Michael is the only boxing instructor I will follow. No one gets my arms burning like he does.

I watched a 4 minute preview of Aerobox right before I ordered it this morning and saw no jumprope and no Kathy Smith. Perhaps he re-made the work out?? I don't care. I didn't want to jump rope anyway. I wanted if for the boxing! There's also abs at the end of the work out I ordered. Can't wait to try it out! :)

I have all of Olajide's DVDs and love them. His form is impeccable and his workouts are intense but fun.I always look forward to doing them and the jump rope routines get me every time. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
