Acai

How many people have lost weight using this? I saw a site promoting this that said some testers lost 33 lbs in 14 days. That scares me.....

I am thinking this "miracle" diet is a scam or dangerous crash diet. Losing that much weight in that short amount of time is dangerous. You put great stress on your heart and other organs in your body fluctuates more than 10% in a month.

I recently read an article about claims of quick weightloss. Apparently most of these mircle diets fake the pictures: they use two different people for the before and afters!

I think Becky is right...even if a supplement does help one lose weight, 33lbs in 14 days is not a good thing. I say a write up (take if for what is is worth) saying that Dr. Oz promoted this supplement on Oprah. I don't watch Oprah so I don't know if this is true or not.

Yeah, the site is saying it's not a drug because Acai is a berry, but that it can give you energy and dull your cravings, but I think the Acai alone is not the reason these people lost so much weight; they are doing it in conjunction with a colon cleanse, and THAT is super scary. Anytime someone does anything along those lines, they risk screwing with the electrolytes in their system and thus effecting the heart.

I'd love to lose some weight, but I'm not desperate enough to go that route.....

I eat açaí all the time (I love making 'sorbet' with the pulp and some frozen berries), but I haven't noticed any weight-loss effects. It is a very nutritious berry, with scads of phytonutrients and a high orac value.

As for Dr.Oz, I have a suspicion he promoted using açaí berries, NOT this particular supplement (I'd pay close attention to the wording on the site that claims he is promoting the supplement. It is probably worded in a way to make it seem like he's for the supplement, when he's actually for the berry itself).

I highly doubt it's just açaí that is the cause of the weight loss. It may be they are taking açaí the way it is often served in wherever it's from: mixed with guarana, which can have a metabolism-stimulating effect (I use the plain açaí, just berry pulp and some lecithin to keep the texture).

Losing that much weight in that short a time (unless, perhaps, one weights 600+ pounds to start with) is not healthy, safe or natural, IMO.
