Ab Solutions?

My SIL had a baby this past October and asked for "something for abs" for Christmas. She's an intermediate exerciser and used to have incredible abs. Any suggestions? I will probably get her Cathe's Core Max, but I wanted to know if you guys had any good suggestions. Thanks!

since you already mentioned cm, i'll put a plug in for tracey staehle's core blast. you can do the whole thing to really burn your abs or just pick and choose when you're short on time,

I cant recall what SNM said... But if STS Core is offered as a single DVD I think it would be great! It has 7 types of core work.

I don't know how to print links to stuff but there's a great article about women and ab training over at FigureAthlete.com. Click on "Recent Articles: See All," scroll down and click on the article "Abs of Iron" by Alan Levi and check out what he says about ab training for women. Once again, something over there has me questioning everything I'm doing.

I love Ab Hits. Even though it is short, it keeps me where I want to be. I do use Core Max and Staehle's Core Blast, plus various other workouts but I really love Ab Hits.

Ha, I own Ab Hits and forgot! Obviously, I don't do it a lot.

Thanks for the Core Blast recommendation- I will pick that up (and maybe get one for me too).

Now, off to read that article...

Thanks everyone!

Girl, you should get that DVD out and use it! Funny how we like different things. I almost didn't get that one b/c I thought I would not use it but definitely wanted Core Max. I don't use CM as often but always pull out Ab Hits. The length of the workouts work better for me in a time crunch- better to do something than nothing, which is what I would do if I only had CM. Maybe let your SIL borrow yours. They may be better at first with a new baby, then she can have whatever you give her to keep. She'll also probably need something to gradually build those muscles. CM is not so easy! Core Blast is fun too - I'm glad to have all three, don't get me wrong. Just my two little ol' cents ;)

A good non-Cathe abs workout is "Crunchless abs." As the title implies, there are no crunches, but a large variety of moves that hit all the core muscles. The system was designed by an RN and athletic trainer.

They have a subscription system, but you can also buy the workouts separately (usually 3, 10-minute workouts per DVD).

I like the first DVD, as well as the "progressive core training" DVD (the latter uses a weighted ball and a resistance cord) . Any of the DVD's with "cardio" in the title really aren't worth getting, IMO, unless you want a nice intermediate workout that focuses on using the core throughout the moves.

In addition to the great workouts mentioned...I find that (even more imp. than the workout) that I need to eat a clean diet (at least 80% of the time), lots of water and using AIM herbal fiberblend daily - the keys I find to leaner abs. My 2 cts.
