Ab Hits: which workout is hardest on it?

DH and I have been doing ab workouts together, actually Denise Austin. He is an incredible runner. He can run 8+ miles on the high terrain of the Missouri Ozarks. Did a small hike with him and about passed out when he told me it was about 1/8 of the amount he usually runs! Well he is VERY fit, but he had only been doing sit ups/crunches at the gym and wanted to hit his abs better. He likes the variety of workouts of Denise Austin but I think he definately could handle something harder. He is the kind of person who loves a physical challenge. So I am buying the Ab Hits for us to do together. What one should I do first to give him the Cathe appreciation for WOW OUCH!!! Adding that since he has workouted out with me on these ab workouts he has new respect for my workouts, kinda like that!

Julie:

I use the traditional abs segment from MIS as my standard. I love this routine and it is not easy. It never lets up. Onto this I then add the planks from Kickbox and Slow & Heavy Chest/back. That gives the core a thorough workout.

Then I also think that if you have lots of Cathe's DVDs, add on, or on a different day play around with, the core section premix from Boot Camp, which is excellent and tough and also the core work from PUB. These should sort him out. And if it doesn't, then try the core work from ME: that should have him screaming.

I think a basic point is, however, that you could pick any one or two segments of traditional abs from ab hits and add on one or two sections targetting planks and that would give you 20 + minutes of thorough training. You can mix it up according to personal taste.

Clare and I have similar preferences. I like to do both ab workouts from PS then tack on some plank work.

And YES, that ME ab work hurts so good. I credit that for bringing out my obliques.

My personal faves in Ab Hits are S&H-Tri/Bi, PH, LL and Kickbox.

If you have the Intensity Series, let your hubby try the pikes in PUB. Or those in KPC if you have the BB series.:)

I'm a smig confused how this workout is to be used. It says it has seven premix workouts, then all of the chapters. So when you say for instance you like the LL workout that means you select LL and it is a workout for 9 minutes (as shown on the list under dvd). Do I have this right? And the LL/Kickbox planks is combo #7 for 14:15 minutes? So the possibilities seem endless. Just want to see if I have this right?

Bottom line: the posibilities are endless. You can choose a premix or just play the program through and skip bits you are not interested in, or play an individual selection at a time, hop back to the main menu, choose another, whatever! When you get the DVD you'll work it out. Don't fret about it!
