Once again, its been awhile here but I wanted to give y'all an update. After a lot of thinking, I made the decision to move back in with my husband on May 11. I was truly caught between two less than desirable situations and had to pick for myself. While I loved being with my mom and stepdad and getting the extra time with them, living there was becoming increasingly difficult.
My sleep disruptions were the biggest problem stemming from the twin size bed and the nighttime house temperature. And, sleep is like the foundation of one's entire day and there were days I went to work on little to no sleep. Since I've been back, I've been able to sleep on a queen size bed in a 70 degree house and my energy levels are normal. Before, I couldn't get through my day without a few quick naps. I would even lay down before I got dressed for work.
My mom's mood swings were getting more and more frequent and while I know she didn't know what she was doing, it was causing me anxiety when she was ripping me up to my stepdad. He knew the truth but he couldn't take sides. She would also make a point to made comments about my breakfast (simple egg whites and oatmeal or the fact that I worked out most days). Walking on eggshells about using the washing machine was getting harder too. I had a conversation with my gynecologist when I saw her for my female checkup back in April and she agreed that it was an unhealthy living situation. She also was concerned about my sleep problems.
So, it was a really hard there leading up to my exit. There was one day that my mom was all happy about my move and some opportunities for work and then it was all downhill from there. Then she got mad because she forgot that I had told her I was moving. It got so bad that one day when I came in from work, my stepdad handed me a $20 bill and said it would better if I took my clothes to a washeteria. That was an experience, I'd never been to one before and it was sit for an hour and wait for everything to be washed and dried.
I moved out the day after Mother's Day and that Monday night slept like a baby in my new bed. I hit the ground running that morning doing errands and didn't need a nap during the day. Since early April my husband has been substitute teaching and I've been very proud of him for putting forth the effort to do gainful employment. But now he's run into a major problem. He was at an elementary school on Monday and then got a phone call on Wednesday that he was being removed from any future assignments at that school and his remaining assignments for the week were being cancelled. A student accused him of slamming a pencil on a desk and making physical contact. Now its escalated into further investigation with the school district and he can't sub in that district any longer. He spent 20 years as a volunteer tutor at at that same district and dealt with some unruly kids over the years but wouldn't ever do anything out of line in the classroom. I don't know if there are cameras in the classrooms now after so many school shooting incidents but this is very concerning. And there isn't any other evidence than what a second grader has said. I felt so good because finally after all these years he was actually working and he even told me a few weeks ago that he finally understood why I would be so frazzled sometimes because of trying to get stuff done during non work hours. I don't know how this is going to play out but he's meeting someone from the district tomorrow. Meanwhile, I was able to save all my paychecks from Mod Pizza to be able to take some time to get Luca and I settled in here before I start looking for work.
Workout wise, I've set up a nice small space in my bedroom with my TV/DVD player/Roku player and I even bought this large mat from Home Depot that protects the floor and minimizes noise (we're not upstairs). I'm also no longer dealing with the knee pain that stemmed from trying to not make a lot of noise while working out upstairs at my mom and stepdad's. It got so bad that I was almost limping when I would walk Luca. I've got all my DVD's and equipment in a closet outside my bedroom and started a 21 day rotation of #MBF (Bodi's Muscle Burns Fat). I've found that 30 ish minute workouts are working great for me now. When I start back with Cathe, I'll probably do Timesaver premixes on her longer workouts.
