81 year old figure skater

Great story, I remember about 10 years ago, an 80 year old woman gave me tips on how to do an official bike tour. She was in better shape than me, could ride better, and had a cool road bike.

How wonderful. I especially liked the part where she said when you're older "if you don't move you won't move". How true is that!

Amazing! Thanks for sharing. I like how she said I am 81 AND 2/3rds! Her body shape is incredible!

That is so sweet! I have to admit though that having figure skated for years and taught as well, it does scare me a little watching her. Even the best skaters fall on their butts sometimes just skating across the rink. At that age I would be terrified of what just one fall might do to her. Although, I'm sure her bones are much stronger than your typical 81 year old. My hats off to her! :D I know I will not be out there at that age!

I'm impressed! I think I just added another role model (along with Diane Keaton) to my list of 'older women in whose footsteps I'd like to follow').

It's important to work on balance as one ages, and it looks like she's doing a great job of that! I see many more 80+ year old shuffling along, looking like they're about to fall over even when just walking.

And it goes to show that one can keep a decent-looking body into older age (though the face is a whole other story). Her legs look better than mine! (Or is that support hose?).

I didn't watch the whole thing, because the video is very choppy on my dial-up. Does she do any jumps? I'd be worried about falling.

Extremely impressive and motivating. I never thought of her falling, maybe, I should have. I was just awestruck at her balance on one leg along with the twirling and she didn't even seem to become dizzy or disoriented. She was definitley spunky!

It goes to show you that all this exercise that we do will pay off in the long run. Normally someone as Kathryn stated have a hard time walking without losing their balance. She more than likely has very strong bones from the weight bearing exercises she has done for 67 years!

I am sure she had support hose on - even with that she looked fantastic - definitely not your average 81 2/3 year old woman.

Thank you for sharing this video with us - it really did inspire me today!
